Great channel Mitch and awesome content. While watching your videos I kept thinking the area looked familiar. I grew up in the Northlake/Tucker area and now live in SW Florida. I have a 1999 Vanden Plas and a 2005 Super V8. Keep up the good work!

My XJR has the CATS shocks 2001 model ..... I've seen people undo the top part, then after they remove the plate with bushings, then jack the car up, this saves the bolt shooting off so less dangerous that way. Please correct me if that's wrong!

Surprised it doesn’t have CATS shocks. Thought they were standard on XJRs. Perhaps a previous owner deleted them for standard gas shocks?

Hey, that CAT system was 2000 and after..I am almost certain but in 1998, they did not use them. I am actually glad they did not..

@@MitchGrooms perhaps so. My 99k ‘02 is on CATS and I’m pleased to report that they’re still in good shape. I’ve also got a ‘97 XK8 on standard shocks and I’ve had to replace those in the last 12 months. The back ones were absolute pigs to replace.

@@gerardbooth40 I have a rear shock going and I looked it up to replace that, WOW, that is a huge job.. Do you have vids on your cars? are you on FB? I own 2 large Jag pages there. I had a 97 XK8 but it was stolen, loved that car.. before i purchased it in 2000, Jaguar just put a new engine in it..

@@MitchGrooms I’m not on social media anymore as it’s too full of negativity and BS that I can do without. As far as videos are concerned, I’ve always been more of a stills guy than a videographer. Having said that, I keep considering if I ought to start a channel to document my various automotive projects. Im a regular correspondent in the conversation snd comments on John Dee’s ‘To the Garage’ channel and, iv you wang to take a look at my XK8, my photo came second in the calendar competition last year and can be seen here ua-cam.com/video/riIrRf7Zu14/v-deo.html at about 14’ in. Here’s my shortlist for this year’s competition photos.app.goo.gl/zJj1WqYwTFYcjiG48. If I get through to last 20, hope you’ll vote for me 🤞
My XK8 still has its original Nikasil engine with great compression and runs like an absolute peach. She’s got a Paramount sports exhaust with only one muffler fitted (at the front) so sounds properly fruity! Currently on 84k and only used for about 3k per year in the summer months. Having said that, my wife and I also run around in modern German machines as our ‘dailies’. Incredible pieces of kit with astonishing performance/efficiency and so far, totally reliable. Just one problem - no soul - hence the need for Jaguars in my life.

From what I understand, CATS is fairly uncommon on USDM X308's, even in the XJR and VDP(Daimler) trims. I think it was only ever an option here, and one that very few buyers selected from what I've seen.
