Rhys Clark Film & media That’s a good point, I think I phased this wrong I meant planning every little thing can make your write predictable and for me at least writing “blindly” ( not really theirs a blueprint) can allow you to get to know and create your characters and get to know them like real people also personally I’m able to write and not overstay my welcome

@@LukasOfTheLight Only someone who doesn't write would write what you wrote. What you saw in that video is the synopsis of all their ideas. It's like 3000 ideas in those 15 minutes. They then had to expand all of them and consider every little detail in notes they didn't show.

This makes you realise just how fully formed Edgar Wright's vision is before each movie - 90% of the stuff on that brainstorming sketchpad is in the final film - when does that EVER happen!?

Most times a good director has the film visualised like a comic book, scene for scene. Except for when the producers have final word. Then, I think, the writer/director is screwed out of anything. I love directors cut. Ruined films get a chance.

Creating an "arsenal of ideas", to use the term Pegg mentions with regards to the flipchart, before you actually start scripting seems like a brilliant idea and something I might try for my next script. I liked the chart they had about the protagonist that just list character attributes, many of which never even made it into the final script.
