This brings back so many memories! In 1970 I had my first Midget. Wonderful fun! And oh so easy to do all of those jobs (like tuning the carb by ear). Thanks for the memories.
What happenend to the W124? Btw. you're right. Good service is worth it's price. Being stingy will only lead to the fact that at some point there will be no one left who has the expertise and wants to do such work.
I used to work on my first ones in the road outside my house in london, stripping down the carbs is easy, gasflowing the the choke tubes is easy, quick lift dash pots a doddle , match carbs to inlet manifold easy and match inlet manifold to head. Put back together and balance carbs ( piece of flexible tube and a small funnel for your ear), that would have been saturday morning, lunch and then a ride. These cars are easy , I was only 18 when my love affair started and I knew almost nothing!
Remove the points ignition and fit and electronic ignition setup. Easy and cheap and no adjustment needed again. If you're running twin su carbies then applying the throttle when starting will do nothing except actually lean it out. Just pull out the choke and use it a minimal amount after starting and just keep it running on the throttle until warm enough to idle so you dont foul the plugs. If the su carbies are in great working order and the correct needles and dashpot oil in them then there shouldn't be an issue.
Love the MG and the Miget. Don't see them around in the States these days. I see Nissan has brought back the 280Z for 2025. I'll have to go down and take a look. Btw, a recent reply to one of my comment on another channel concerned my comment about ev's being a scam. The reply wanted me to explain my resoning. I just sent him your YT Channel.
A need in any car you need a fuel gauge and l try and do most of the work on 1997 Hilux myself but there are some things l have a work shop do the repairs and rear wheel cylinders getting the brake shoes of a real pain
Your back. That’s great. The MG looks great. Agree with you having it serviced by the people who know MG’s.

Did they check your valve clearance, as valves sink into the head recommend you get them done save a burnt valve later on

These are popular with the ev conversion crowd
