This is a great video. It is so rare to see Nuon gaming. Back in the day I use to sell computer accesories, but was also able to sell Samsung Nuon systems. I only sold one to a game collector. Good times. Love the review and take care. :)
I've heard for the first time in this video that you can play games on your DVD player!? What the heck? :) And I played Tempest 2000 and heard for Tempest 4000 but Tempest 3000??? I didn't know this game exist. I can say the same for Iron Soldier 3. I've definitely learned something today. ;)
Good video! Nice! I have never seen a Nuon game system or this game before! I have Tempest 2000 for the Atari Jaguar and Tempest 4000 for the PS4 system!
I have never heard of this game, but as always you make it interesting with your enthusiasm and passion. The game reminds of 3D Maze screen saver, but way more seizure inducing insanity.
This takes me back to my Nuon gaming days. T3K was awesome! I’d love to see T3K redone on modern systems. It had its own identity for sure. I loved how “fluid” the graphics looked, and the use of piano in the soundtrack.
I always forget the Nuon existed at all. I remember seeing magazine ads for it very briefly back in the day and then it just vanished. I never saw a store thar had them or a person who owned one.
They could port T3K to modern platforms like windows and Linux. Thanks for the information about the doc/games of Jeff from Digital Eclipse, I was confusing it with the Steam collection "EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING" that I've had for a long time.
Ive heard one of you guys mention Nuon system awhile back and i'd never heard of it from Samsung. Weird. Thanks for showing the actual console. Looks like a mundane dvd player. I'll look up some info about it,....i'll go find your video about it
If they are able to reproduce Nuon games, wonder how long until Songbird starts rereleasing Zapit Game Wave games, another obscure game platform. (I know they won't but it's a funny thought)
Fascinating. One has to respect the vision they had with the Nuon and with not that many resources. I mean, they weren't wrong with their idea, just that Playstation did it the other way around, a console that also played DVDs, and being Sony and having gazzillion dollars, well, the rest is history. Under different circumstances, who knows where this might have gone. Anyway, this and IS3 are the two games that made me want a Nuon for some time, but I won't get into that rabbidhole nowadays 😅. Great video, thanks for sharing!
@@johnhancockretro I know, but I mean like a clone console, because REALLY like how these games look, but its hard to find a nuon. Oh, and love the content.
I wish they would put this out for all the other systems. I have Tempest 4k on Steam but it has control issues which have not been addressed by Llamasoft. The best version is the Jag one.
I think technically speaking it was a re-re-release. Tempest was awesome, Tempest 2009 was even better, and this... I don't know about this, but it looks great.
I think you made a video about the Nuon and no no good. This system was even more useless than the CD-i. At least the CD-i was a true multi-media system it failed but you definitely saw the potential of the concept. Anyway good playthrough and cool video John!👉🙂👈
i really don't want to be that guy or let what i say sound vexing or very mean, but i come here to learn and get educated about old stuff i never heard about, TEMPEST is something most of us know, mostly the jaguar one, but when names are dropped like NUON wihout John even taking a moment to tell me what a NUON is, well, that kinda feels weird, i know many here came to watch this knowing what a Nuon is, but i don't , so maybe like 30 seconds take on the nuon would be nice for an ignorant peasant like me ?
So you have the rights to release a game that most people don’t own, because it was on a system that most people own. Why not… release it for something someone owns?
@@johnhancockretro I disagree. Look at the Atari 50 Collection and how many people bought that exclusively because of the Jaguar games like Tempest 2000. Not to mention, releasing it as a downloadable title on Steam or eShop would mean you could avoid having to print box art, manuals, discs, plastic cases, and all the akudama and bonuses that were showcased. I just feel like, if you are a collector who has hundreds to spend on one of the few working Nuon based players still floating around, you either have this game already, don’t have a Nuon that will even play it, or have managed to burn it to a DVD-R or something. I think this more than anything would justify the licencing fees that no doubt went into funding this release.
@@LdeinerProductions you are comparing an indie company to digital eclipse. Songbird productions does not have the revenue to port it themselves. Without a collection of games to include, the best case scanario would be for Atari to possibly get a port of this but still a total gamble. After all, they already have Tempest 2K and 4k along with the arcade release on modern platforms.
Thanks, John! Happy to bring this game back for Nuon fans. :)
Who needs drugs when you have tempest 3k lol.
I always thought that! In higher stages I go into a kind of trance
Very cool. It's nice to see this rerelease so people can get their hands on one. Thanks for the video, John!

Tempest X on Playstation 1 is still my favorite. Tempest 4000 on Xbox One and PS4 is great too !

Nuon + Tempest 3000 + a controller = my holy grail!

After watching this video, I'm going to play some Tempest 2000 on my Sega Saturn. This music it's like a caffeine shot in the arm.
I was hoping they would do this, just pre ordered it! Great now I have to find a Nuon!
I always forget the Nuon existed at all. I remember seeing magazine ads for it very briefly back in the day and then it just vanished. I never saw a store thar had them or a person who owned one.
Love TEMPEST FOR EVER ! Hail from France ! Very good video here, hope you the best.
Never heard of this till today. This is gaming history right here and they did a great re release looks like.
3000 is the best, visually, IMO. It's a trippy looking series and 3000 goes all the way.
Loving the Nuon coverage! I really like T3K- it's basically T2K with trippier graphics that's got a mega-Super Zapper. Great game!
They could port T3K to modern platforms like windows and Linux. Thanks for the information about the doc/games of Jeff from Digital Eclipse, I was confusing it with the Steam collection "EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING" that I've had for a long time.
The problem would be porting it. Costs $$$$
Really cool don't have a nuon but would love to just emulate it one point to play it.

I gotta be honest, the original artwork and that gold DVD cover looks so much nicer.
There's Tempest X3 which came out for the Playstation 1, just like Iron Soldier 3 came out for the PS1.

Both Nuon owners will be really pleased to see this release!
i had no idea that a NUON even existed.....
Love these games- even if the version for Switch that I paid full price for still has music and menus issues which the developer blew off fixing.
Man,I wish there was a company that made sort of "rereleases" or emulation boxes for obscure consoles like the nuon
There are rereleases for the games from Songbird productions, even a N64 controller adapter.
@@johnhancockretro I know, but I mean like a clone console, because REALLY like how these games look, but its hard to find a nuon.

Need this ported to Switch
Is the out of focus only the on the re-release or is it on the original Nuon release too?
The gameplay is a 1/1 duplicate of the original.
Game is recommended for Snoop Dogg. Only thing missing is VR mode😅
I think technically speaking it was a re-re-release. Tempest was awesome, Tempest 2009 was even better, and this... I don't know about this, but it looks great.
Needs a PC port so everyone can play it.
Awesome game can I play with it man 😊
I assume this looks incredible on a CRT?
Using component cables already so not much better.
