- This is a tribute to the legendary Manga writer, Akira Toriyama. Thank you for raising almost two entire generations, since 1984 to 2024 and beyond that.
I've been watching Dragon Ball since I was a kid, first on TV and even now. Akira Toriyama has been idolised in history forever, and Dragon Ball will live on in the hearts of everyone for years to come.

I wanted to say rest in peace, Akira Toriyama. There really aren’t any words I can think of to describe the pain this loss has brought to not just me, but millions of people around the world. Toriyama was such an amazingly creative person who really did create something unique and special with Dragon Ball. I can only imagine how he must have felt knowing he created the most popular anime and manga of all time and it’s amazing how he was able to create such a unique story all the way back in 1984 and have it still be so unbelievably popular all these years later. And it’s especially saddening given how this is technically the 40th anniversary of the entire Dragon Ball franchise overall. And it’s incredible how he helped inspire so many other anime and manga creators like Eiichiro Oda with One Piece, Masashi Kishimoto with Naruto, Tite Kubo with Bleach and so, so, so many more. Another tragic part to all this is that we’ve lost so many amazing manga artists these last few years like Kentaro Miura and Kazuki Takahashi and now we’ve lost the most well known of them all. I really do need to thank Toriyama for everything he’s done with creating this franchise and these amazing characters like Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and so many others. I only got into Dragon Ball back in 2017 and I can say I understand why it’s as gigantically popular as it is with so many amazing and iconic moments. It’s also amazing how this franchise seems very simplistic compared to other mangas and yet it’s still hailed as amazing all these years later. It’ll be tragic to watch Dragon Ball Daima this year knowing it’s the last thing he ever worked on. Overall, I just want to say, thank you for everything Akira Toriyama and rest in peace.
We will miss Toriyama-Sensei. His work has definitely inspired millions of people around the world and his work will never be forgotten and neither will he. Fly High Sensei🕊️😢

RIP Akira Toriyama Sensei 😢….. you shaped my life in more ways than one. I started watching Dragon Ball when I was about 14 or 15 as a teenager in high school before I went to class and now I am in my mid-40s and your lessons and shows impacts and still influences my life today. Thank you so much for the memories and the escape from turmoil to enjoy the world and universe you created.
