Thanks - what I heard is, you attract what you are. So the basis is work on self respect and self love and knowing we are enough .focus on me so I feel the best in me and with that draw the best in others not just the men. I feel a larger question is, what is respect the, from a feminine energy and masculine energy perspective. How do I first respect myself in a practical sort of way.

Sometimes men can be very very childish. In such circumstances it is very difficult to comply with them. I respect a wise person, and I cannot respect unfair behavior. How to behave when they want respect even if they are wrong?
I believe then to commit to communicating your truth and your needs respectfully. Respecting the masculine requires that he actually be a safe trustworthy person. Also for the feminine to use common sense and good communication skills to express without matching negative habits, energy, or behavior.
