Franky - Congrats on your stripers ; way to stick with it and not giving up. I feel you on those tough days ; I get skunked on most of my trips but I love it so much being outside in these beautiful places that I keep coming back . Love your videos; they are great . Good luck with the fishing in the Fall and keep on going .

Franky, I'm a bit slow to watch this one. I'm so impressed with your editing. You do a really good job, I wouldn't know where to start with what you're doing on your edits. Love hearing about how meaningful this place is for you. It looks absolutely beautiful by the way. Stripers are beautiful fish and you did well with them. You earned my thumbs-up!

Thanks Dan! FXPro is a powerful tool with a ton of depth when you add transition packs and custom luts. I’m learning something and trying new things with every edit. I hope to settle into a consistent rhythm heading into 2023. Appreciate the support!

If you're on island late Sept-early Oct give me a shout. Few of us go every year for the Derby and there's a few musicians amongst us. It was great hearing your story, and those last hopeful pre-ferry casts are familiar.

That’s an awesome offer! I heard derby times are unmatched. I’d love to grab a drum and make some music while there as well. My college band recorded our first album in OB!

I enjoy hitting the fly shops on island - Coops and Kismet, always good chats with them about what’s going on with the bite. I would love to be there in September! Or May for that matter. I can’t currently control when I go, all based on family travel since I’m self-funding. Thanks for the kind feedback on the videos. My goal is to keep going and keep making higher quality content.

Great video! Question. Ill be fishing on the Vineyard in a couple of weeks, for the annual Derby. I'm an experienced fly fisher from Georgia, but for trout in our freshwater streams, and have little experience with the salt.
I do have a very nice 9-wt TFO Axiom-IIX 9' rod paired with a quality TFO NTR reel, and this is a fine combo for bluefish, albies, and bonito .....no stripers in the Derby this year....but the reel is loaded with intermediate sinking line.
My question is, if I'm fishing streamers with this rod from the shore for albies, blues, and bonito....should i fish the sinking line or should i spool that reel with a good 9-wt floating line?
    Thanks!

Ideally you’d have both with you. Thats your official thumbs up to buy new gear lol. If I had to choose I would go with the intermediate line. Getting down faster in the surf will catch more fish - unless they are busting on top and you’re throwing top water stuff. You can always give Kismet Outfitters or Coop’s a call and see what they recommend for fly choice and go from there. I throw an intermediate line with a micro streamer (dumbbell eyes) for Striper in the summer.

Dam I used to go there for 10 years straight , lobsterville beach at night we had 100 fish nights , so tired we wouldn't even fish the next day.

That sounds absolutely epic! Hope the fishery returns to those levels some day. When are you getting back again?

For the type of fishing shown in your film I find an intermediate sink line with a stripping basket is superior to a floating line. In New England the public is allowed access to all shoreline below the high tide line. They can post the area above the high tide line if they own it. I can understand land owners who get enraged by fishermen who leave trash behind. Suggest you start in the dark before dawn. Congrats on the striper.

9:47 pretty sure if you stay below the high tide line, you’re free to go wherever. People can’t privatize the water.

Thanks for checking out the channel! Subscriber giveaway is active (btw). I put more money into the reel, but was really impressed with this rod versus the other more expensive models out there. I cast them all and for my casting style, this one fit the bill. 9wt St. Croix Imperial Salt, paired with a ROSS EVOLUTION R SALT FLY REEL 9/10. I was running Scientific anglers amplitude smooth weight forward Grand Slam Fly line. It’s 270 grain in the 9-F with a 40 foot head.
