That looks like a blast! I've heard the C&O has some sharp turning places at bridges and would not be good for recumbent trikes, though. Your thoughts on that if you're still out there in cyberworld??? Thanks a lot for posting. Nice photos.
There were 4 recumbent bikes on this tour, they made it fine. Its 180 mile on the C&O, one or 2 bad places isn't going to slow you down much. You do want the fattest tires possible, as the canal is a dirt path with roots here and there. NOW the GAP trail would be heaven;y on a recumbent. It is literally ALL downhill and most all of it is paved !!
@@GoingNoWhereFast Thank you very much for replying. I should have been more clear, because I meant trikes and not bikes. Recumbent trikes (3 wheelers) have two of their wheels side by side, about 30 to 32 inches apart, and they don't work well on "wagon trail" roads with grass strips down the middle. What do you think? A lady who offers planned trips down both paths told me the C&O is not good for 3 wheelers.
@@gmaneis Well, There are a lot of videos of the trail. The early sections are a little like a dirt road with tire marks and a grass strip. I don't beleive the middle was like that, but Cumberland might have been. BUT Again... Its going to rain, Be muddy, bumpy, buggy, cold, hot, and all those things. If you want to do it on a recumbent tike, just do it ! We went 35-40s a day. My partner and I were usually done by 2pm, speeding along. Some people wwere done by noon, some came late to dinner around 6pm. If you are an early riser and sleep on the ground ok, what's to loose, 5 days of suffering for the trip of a life time !! No matter how you look at it, its a challenge.. so make it YOUR challenge, not some tour guide ! Let me know how you do !! Maybe I'll camp along the route when your doing it !
Lovely. I'll have to check it out. (Catching up with some of your older videos on this cold, lazy Saturday.)
Thank for watching !! Its a fun Ride !
What can I say Rick. I am in awe. Don't think I could have done it
You would never beleive how easy it was, just look at the people who went !

@@GoingNoWhereFast Thanks again, Going...! I really appreciate your thoughts. I think I'm the hotel or B&B type, but the riding looks sooo awesome!
@@gmaneis So even better !
Pittsburgh (where I live) to D.C is like 4.5-5 hours.....
Well if you take the canal and then the rail trail, its 5 days! Its a fun ride though !
