Try this, 4 oz of Green Apple, 2 Tablespoons of Coco Chocolate, added to 3 gal boiling water along w/ 1/2 cup of salt, n a 1/2 cup of vinegar. Makes a ACU a FDE, looks like it could be used year round.
Its Brent 0331. Great channel by the way, he tests all kinds of camos and army tactics. Ive seen vids with walnut colored dye that looks incredible from a camo effectiveness pattern!. so i wonder if you could make a apple green / walnut combo.
I'm watching videos trying to figure out the right dye concentration/immersion time to get a nice dark urban camo look. I have a classic ACU jumpsuit I'd like to mod, good video!
I recently dyed a set of UCP pattern ACUs (including field and boonie hat), using Rit Camel Tan. The gray areas now are tan with a slight green tint, the other areas just a little tinted. The boonie hat came out a little darker brown. I think this will work well in our Kansas fields and fencerows.
I saw a video where someone used a Rit Chocolate brown and it came out pretty damn cool! Looked like a Coyote/Chocolate digital. Almost like a subdued old school chocolate chip
Awesome concept and cool videos in your dyeing series. I have an old set of ECWCS parka and pants in ACU I want to try this on; the black looks sick, and if it works I might do 2 sets one in apple green also; Any idea if the RIT dye will work and take on the goretex fabric without hurting the waterproofing.
ACU is Army Combat Uniform. The old woodland camos were called BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) but that referred to the uniform style not the camo pattern. ACU also refers to the style of the uniform. You've got class A, class B, and you've got ACU. The camo pattern itself, which is what sucks, is called UCP or Universal Camo Pattern.
Very informative and great video! Does that color last or if you start low crawling, and doing other things that rub on the fabric make that color come off bring back the ace color, or is that not possible?
If I'm wanting to get into turkey hunting in the midwest and I already have a pair of ACU pants & combat shirt would you recommend buying a matching BDU top and dying all three or just getting other cheap military camo? I have a Flecktarn parka and pant set as well that's slightly faded. Just not super fond of Real Tree and Mossy Oak made in China overpriced stuff and while Sitka looks cool it's just too expensive. Thank you for your videos!
Vuongiam I completely agree! Thanks, couldn’t remember the pattern name in the video. One of the worst decisions the army ever made was going to a camouflage pattern that would only blend in to a pile of gravel.
-😎So the ACU digital CAMO is always judged as crap CAMO, no one realizes HOW AFFECTIVE IT REALLY IS IN URBAN COMBAT, CAMO IS CALLED “UCP- Universal CAMO pattern. Appalachian Survivalist I just did it, black and dark green.... it turned out green. I did wet/cold gortex. It’s expensive because I live in Canada and I got it new and was on sale. I am used to olive drab when I served so it’s a step up for me. Cheers Richardj
Ok, so I have a really good one for ya, I have always wanted a winter cover for the old PASGT flak vest, but they were never made. How would you go about dying one to pure white?
I haven’t had much luck dying black to anything other than black short of spray paint.... however, I haven’t tried it, but I would think if you bleached it, it may turn it brown or tan and you could dye from there.....
I'd like to know that there's a smell on the new ACU or combat suit. I don't know if it's disinfectant or insect repellent. Can you tell me It's very fragrant. I like it very much
@@fireteammichael1777 If you didn't get the liner with that parka order it. That German parka liner is one of my favorite bits. Its a jacket in its own right. detail it with a brush probably, blending brush strokes makes for good meshing with background foliage, they make a uniform camo called smear and dry grass and desert smear camos look really good

ACU is the uniform (like BDU is the uniform). The camo pattern is UCP.

Great Job bro! Glad you did this. I really want to dye my mag pouches. I cant let them go just because of the ACU....

Everybody be hatin on the ACU.
Very nice 👌
I’m a bit confused. Do you use all 3 colors black, dark green and apple green together? Or just Apple green? Thank you
My war set is when I get planted ... Everything else nice idea out of the box ... Keep your powder dry brother ..
I used dark brown RIT on my acu pants and it turned out great
I have the acu modular sleep system and almost bit the bullet in purchasing the woodland one. But. Ima try this now.

The blouse looks like the ukrainian camoflauge pattern. It looks great i might try it on some dirt cheap ucp combat shirts
Great job thanks

Ok, so I have a really good one for ya, I have always wanted a winter cover for the old PASGT flak vest, but they were never made. How would you go about dying one to pure white?
I’d say a 50/50 bleach and water solution. Soak for 10 min and rinse.
Great video!
Any suggestions on how to change the color of a black plate to tan/coyote?
I haven’t had much luck dying black to anything other than black short of spray paint.... however, I haven’t tried it, but I would think if you bleached it, it may turn it brown or tan and you could dye from there.....
Light layers of spray paint. Literally just dusting it at first.
Do you have to use Rit, or any dye would work?
Try to find anything else. I had to go to a craft store to find Rit.
Did dying it ruin the clear plastic on your ruck?
It did dye the plastic, but it isn’t ruined. Just no longer clear.
I may have missed, but did you say how long you left in and got that shade?

I believe it’s an insect repellent
Appalachian Survivalist I like the taste very much. Can I buy it on eBay
It’s insect repellent, DEET if I remember correctly.
ACU jackets inflated to around 40 USDs still cheaper then woodland tho which is like 100 bucks now lulz
Army Combat Uniform (ACU)
I love Acu, i think it looks so much cooler than Flecktarn (the pattern of my country)!
The Army replaced the UCP pattern (Slate digital camo) in favor of the OCP pattern (essentially multi-cam)
