- The Better Start Bradford Innovation Hub, part of Born in Bradford, has been working with Better Start Bradford to evaluate projects and early life interventions delivered over the last 10 years in three wards of our city.
We recently hosted a series of webinars to share findings from our evaluations, alongside research from Born in Bradford's Better Start (BiBBS) - the world's first interventional birth cohort and one of its most diverse.
The theme of this webinar was language and communication. A focus of the Better Start Bradford programme because of the importance of the home learning environment for children’s development and the impact of poor language and communication skills on children’s school readiness.
We explore our evaluation findings relating to Better Start Bradford’s projects and services including I-CAN, Better Start Imagine, and Talking Together. We also share key insights from our latest research from BiBBS. Professor Claudine Bowyer-Crane, University of School of Education at the University of Sheffield, concludes the webinar with a reflection on what’s needed to support children’s language and communication moving forward, both in Bradford and beyond.
You can find our other webinars on health, nutrition and green space and social and emotional development here.
