No - I don't think you've 'talked way too much' at all.....another wonderfully informative and well explained video - thank you. I had high hopes for a reduction in snoring when my 'Knightsbridge Chin Strap' arrived, but despite it keeping my mouth tightly closed - I recorded my highest ever snore score on the app.....shucks! Suppose it's guesswork what may work -'without knowing the cause.
that would suggest you have tongue base collapse. for your snoring to get worse, you must have had more airflow, which means that the chinstrap helped, but not what you were hoping for. check your flow limitation, and supine AHI and RIP, you'll probably see the issues there.
@@VikVeerENTSurgeonMany thanks for your reply - I'm on your waiting list for a DISE, so really hope you'll be able to help. Since my sleep study I've started to wake after a few hours - and then when trying to get back to sleep and on the edge of nodding off I'm 'awoken' by what seems to be the start of a snore. This can happen many times a night and is beginning to drive me to despair.
@@VikVeerENTSurgeon Hi Doctor, you didn’t mention what can be done for someone who suffers from very heavy snoring, especially if it’s caused by having a big / thick tongue. Could you provide advice on this? Thank you!
Thank you my absolute darling!!! I don't have to care anymore, you fixed me so well and I will always be indebted to you. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Anyone with sleep apnoea please please please get it rectified, I wish I'd done it sooner!!! Thank you Vik 🙏
@VikVeerENTSurgeon You and your family have a wonderful Christmas Vik, I still thank God for you to this day. Hey, I've had my nose done now too and wow, I'm an absolute human again 👍👍👍. Take care ♥️
My friend had tonsils removed at age 13 and now has sleeping issues. I think his muscle was cut. He did a laser of the palate, and his condition improved but did not last too long.
I wouldn’t wish sleep apnea on my worst enemy…… every night is a trauma going to bed and wearing a CPAP machine. Mr V has already done a small operation on me and the follow up operation proposed was so aggressive (the surgery not MrV!!!) so I turned it down - truth is I don’t think any of the medical world can ‘cure’ sleep apnea for life 😢
it can be a difficult decision, and I agree, if you are not sure then you should not go for the operation. I'll always be here if you change your mind.
Very imformative video Vic as usual, Just found out my turbinate reduction op with you will be in mid Jan 👍🏻 I also have a left tight ostium duct with some inflammation-does that also affect your turbinates as the ears, nose, throat are all connected as you know anyway!
The real reason people snore is they are energy vampires and they cannot bear to not be invading and occupying your consciousness, even when they sleep...
I’ve snored ever since having a Rhinoplasty in 1984 no matter if i sleep on my back or side. Since had surgery to add nose cartilage, remove polyps and scar tissue with no effect. Mandibular and tongue devices don’t work. Would love to address the real issue if any recommendations. 🙏
Subject: Seeking Your Advice on My Daughter's Upcoming Surgery Hi Veer, I hope this message finds you well. Thank you very much for the video you shared; in regards to mastoid surgery it was incredibly helpful. I wanted to reach out to hear your opinion on a matter concerning my daughter. She is currently seeing an ENT consultant due to some hearing issues and recently underwent an MRI scan. The results indicated that she has cholesteatoma in her ear, which is essentially excessive skin covering the eardrum. The doctors have recommended mastoid surgery for her condition. As she is very young, I am quite worried about the implications of such a significant surgery. Given your expertise and experience, I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights you could provide regarding this situation. Thank you for your time and support. Hope to hear from you soon.
Vik what were your Tinnitus sound/s when you had it? The Globus feeling can also be caused by Anxiety. I had it 4 weeks ago for a week. Was a nightmare!
it is more tolerable because it doesn't 'push' as hard in certain parts of the respiratory cycle. it is more tolerable but slightly less effective when you are in deep sleep or rem sleep. only one small trial so far and it was noticed that if you had CPAP after the kpap 48% preferred the kpap. I think we need to see more studies as I've not been convinced by this first one.
It depends on the different reasons for that individual person's snoring. Some of the causes can be improved by exercises. Some can be improved by losing weight. Some need surgery. Some need breathing machines. Some can't be helped at all. Every person has a different combination of reasons.
Can you be my ENT even though I live in the USA? I'm not joking. My first and only ENT was so rude and did not care about me at all. I'm scared to go to a second one, in case I get treated the same way.
Amazingly useful video!! I've never seen so much information about snoring and OSA summarised so well in one place. Thank you Vik!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Could you please show us in a video how a low lying palate should look like from a front mirror vs a normal palate?

it was a broadband high frequency tone above 6kHz.
anxiety definitely can cause it.
Hi Dr. Veer, what are your thoughts on Kpap? similar to cpap but more tolerable
it is more tolerable because it doesn't 'push' as hard in certain parts of the respiratory cycle. it is more tolerable but slightly less effective when you are in deep sleep or rem sleep. only one small trial so far and it was noticed that if you had CPAP after the kpap 48% preferred the kpap. @VikVeerENTSurgeon thank you
What is the best way to treat Idiopathic hypersomnia and how is it different than narcolepsy? Is it connected to sleep apnea?
After how many days of exercise does a person get rid of snoring disease?
It depends on the different reasons for that individual person's snoring. Some of the causes can be improved by exercises. Some can be improved by losing weight. Some need surgery. Some need breathing machines. Some can't be helped at all. Every person has a different combination of reasons.
if it is going to work, it takes 3 weeks on average,
