  • Just a quick update on what gear I will be using this year for all of my gigs with DJay Pro. I've sent back the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro and will just work with my Rane Seventy with Reloop turntables and Phase. My Pioneer Rev-1 will be the backup system.

I can't put Djay over VirtualDJ even tho the fluid bpms are amazing, but still hv some stuff to be desired. The integration on djay still has a way to go.. especially in the screen areas.

VDJ definitely has a better hardware integration than djay pro.

Reloop 7000s are just super cool; it's the first time I would say something is better than the originals. They're a little tight compared to Technics - the tonearm is closer to the platter, and in the classic setting, there's less space for hand movement for back-and-forth cueing. But their variable torque and flexibility just make me feel like I've got a superpower with them. I decided to go with the Rane 72, as the screen gives me more focused attention to the state - no need to look at the laptop screen too often, which is an advantage, in my taste. And 2D effects screen is also unique feature (when you can play with a finger two effects together around the screen), I use it pretty often...
Still not decided on needle for scratching... I have Ortofon MK2 Club, and two Reloops: Black + Vibe (discontinued, the red-tipped one). I am using Reloop black for scratching, however not sure if it is the best choice. May you tell tour thoughts on styli?

I use the Pink Ortofon OM, which are also discontinued but you can still find the styli for sale. I rarely use the styli unless I'm playing vinyl. For digital files I am using Phase.

@@logisticalstylesChecked them out, indeed they are good and easy to get on eBay (even for $40 for a stylus, given I have black reloop which I can swap the stylus). Curious, if it worth buying the old one, or buy a newer white scratch MKII cartridge... Will test them. I have another question which I am going to post separately above.

I'm experiencing an issue with index vinyl records - there's a whistling sound coming from the needle (which serves as the index itself and helps the software determine the pitch). However, this sound is unpleasant to hear. I'm curious whether some needles are better than others in this regard, specifically if they produce less noise during playback. It's not a issue in a club setting, but it's really annoying during home training/mixing sessions.

Yeah, that noise can get annoying. That's one of the benefits I got by moving to Phase. I think any needle you use will make that noise.

Too bad that the rev5 isn't supported on djay Pro yet I think it would be the perfect controller for it. I've been using my reloop ELITE mixer with a pair of Denon lc 6000s it works great.

If I get tired of carrying turntables, I may get the LC 6000s. My local Guitar Center has a pair in the used section.

@@logisticalstyles the lc6000s are a lot lighter than turntables.

Dj pro 5.0 could be so much better and be a top competitor only if they fix the same things. They have potential I hope they figure it out.

I use HID mode when I use Serato. I wish DJay Pro could do the same.

I love Djay Pro, but it still has a lot of bugs, at least on my iPhone connecting to Apple Music. Like for simple things, listening to it in automix in my car from a large Apple Music playlist. So I don’t know if it’s the size or not that makes it bug out.

What about the Rane One? Still has the pads below the platters tho... I went back to a full size setup (72 and twelves), but for smaller gigs, i just bring a single decl and instant double. I should try DJay pro with my 72 one day cause while the sceen isn't supported, everything else does work...

I considered it but I see too many being sold right now. I’m wondering if that is indicative of a bigger issue.

Good direction but all the gear lust is making me sick to be honest.. the record collection is supposed to be the fundamental and then how you present that music (aka Mix it) and now everything is just becoming so convoluted and like a CDJ vibe with the robotic aspect taking further away from the human skills. I knew this was happening 20 years ago - yes the market dictates so this will further devolve under the narrative of 'groundbreaking tech' while 95% of Digital Jockeys won't be doing gigs
