Best method is actually the 3rd one you have used. There is no point to spray onto the cloth to give it time to absorb and waste the product. Spray on slightly wet panel, spread with wet MF clothe, rinse right away lance distance 50-60cm. Always work from roof to wheel rims, panel by panel. A final overall rinse of the whole car is a bonus. The reason in your case it didn't work as good as the 2nd method is because you used considerably less product on the 3rd than the 2nd. Also notice you sprayed onto the panel some good amount extra on the 2nd method. Regardless, nice demonstration of those four methods and thanks for taking the time to make it.
One of my first ever videos was experimenting with wet application sealants and found most to work better using an applied method rather than slap dash in the air to lose half of what you spray , I love the fact you’ve went out there above and beyond the recommended method experimenting with it to make an enjoyable video like this, new style of music for you too, suited the content very well too 👍
Thanks Graeme, it was one of those realization moments a few months ago, when i was doing a quick wash on the car and finishing with this product. Then finding i had to go over a lot of areas spraying twice to get the desired effect. sometimes when your just in the moment and spraying away you don't realize how much is lost in the air, it wasn't until i seen the footage just how much got blown away.
I have a black highly polished and coated car that I prewash with Gyeon Foam(4% PIR) and then hand wash with Gyeon Bathe + every week. This has worked very well for me in maintaining high levels of gloss and hydrophobicity. On my last wash, as an experiment, I upped the concentration of Bathe+ by 50%, from the recommended 20 ml in 2½ gal of water to 30 ml of product. I also applied Gyeon Wet Coat as recommended directly on the panels. The result was stunning; in gloss, slickness and hydrophobicity. I'm a big fan of Gyeon products and enjoy seeing others experiences with them in these videos.
I’ve got one of them Deionised water vessels so I literally rinse the car after washing, spray wet coat on the car and spread with microfibre pad rinsing off panel at a time. Fantastic product and definitely gets better results if you spread the product a bit, still literally takes less than 10 mins to do the whole car even when spreading it
I have been considering getting one of them but I’m not sure how much benefit I would get as the water in my area is already very soft. Do you notice a big difference with it? Yeah I love wet coat, like you said even spreading around you can still fly round the car and be done in no time
@@DavidMcBay I’m also in a soft water area mate, I’d say the filter is my best purchase in relation to detailing… having a black car previously I couldn’t clean it in the sun or it would be covered in water spots no matter how quickly I tried to dry it (tried numerous towels, drying aids and a blower)… now I just wash the car with the hose attached to the filter and let it naturally dry to a perfect finish

I used to use Wet Coat all the time and used the applicator on wet panel, pressure wash off method. I have a dark coloured car and it was fine using that method in cold or cloudy conditions. But when the panels were anywhere above warm, boy it was a killer. I still use it a lot on alloys though.
As much as I like it’s an expensive spray on rinse off. I’ve been using blitz detailing ceramic spray recently (over winter) and it’s great. I use it most washes for wheels now
Brilliant demo as I have just bought some and not sure which is the best way to apply this product, but after watch this you have made my mind up. Thank you.
Interesting, I was wondering about this. I've always been of the view that best way to touch the vehicle is not at all lol. Every touch is an opportunity for scratches no matter how carefully we do it. In that regard I think on a coated vehicle that rinse if needed then foam, hose off and then Wet Coat. If required then a ceramic detailer if no forced air or in combination with. Thanks.
Excellent demonstration of the alternate ways to apply this product mate. was really good to see that and makes me want to change the way i apply this product.
Great video on the versatility of Wet Coat and durability of Bathe+ which i use both! The Wet Coat spray and rinse method wasn't as effective as it could have been due to how much product didn't hit the panel which is a user error not a fault in the performance. I personally use a two spray, rinse, one spray, rinse method and it's mint. I will definitely try a dry panel application after seeing this video. Thank you!
Thank you, Yeah unfortunately even on a calm day my drive can be like a wind tunnel so I had to come up with some different ways to apply this product. Let me know how you get on trying the different methods
Yeah I think it makes a big difference Nick, they still work well enough with the spray on rinse off I just felt they work much better by being spread.
Totally agree! I really do love this product, in terms of spray and rinse i dont think there is a better product, but like you said with a little more effort this can unlock much better performance.
Good demo David the application with the pad certainly impressive I think the reason they want it sprayed on is speed and the amount you rip through is obviously great for there sales ✊🏻
Thanks Paul, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case mate, that's the first time I've properly recorded using wetcoat and I'm quite shocked at how much of it was blown away. I still really like it as a product, just need to not use the recommended application method.

Good video mate! I'm also an advocate of wet the panel, spray directly onto a damp applicator, spread it on one panel at a time and pressure rinse off immediately to prevent any streaking issues. Try and get the car dried quickly also just to ensure a lack of streaking!
I ONLY understood about one or two in twenty or so of the words you were saying with such a thick accent. But I like the test method, and found it useful. Thanks.
Top video Dave, a lot of people will find this very useful and has given me a little food for thought. I have the product on the shelf and really like your favoured method of applying with an applicator on a wet panel. I’m definitely going to give that a try. Well done mate👍👍
Thanks Martin, I was finding myself having to go over areas twice sometimes when applying using the traditional spray on rinse off method so thought it would be worth trying something different and for me it works much better and uses much less product, so hopefully will help a few people out.
Thx for the video. Meguiars hybrid ceramic wax is a similar method. They say to spray on and rinse off but i find this method ridiculous as there is no possible way for the product to completely cover the entire panel. I spray it on and spread it with a wet microfibe then remove it. Works much better. I assume they state to do the spray on rinse off method as they think majority of people are lazy and want the fastest easiest product to use.
I like the idea of a spray and rinse product and I really do like this product but I’ve found that unless there is no wind, spraying and rinsing I need to hit the panel 2 or 3 times where as the wipe on method, for the extra 10 seconds per panel works much better first time and uses much less product. I’ve not actually tried the meguires hybrid stuff, I’ll need to add it to the list
Excellent demo my friend, I do the same thing. Definitely makes a big difference in terms of getting even coverage. Might have to give Bathe+ a go as well, looks incredible and I imagine between the two products, you could still go quite a long time between applications if you had to. I just went through my stuff and realized I had an entire extra bottle of Wet Coat so I have fallen back in love with it.

thanks John, if i was you and getting a gyeon coating on the car i would look into Gyeon bathe plus shampoo its great for maintaining ceramic coatings.
I actually use method 5 lol. I apply to wet rinsed panel using a damp micro fibre and a few sprays of wet coat into it. Spread evenly over the panel, then dry, so no rinsing. Been doing it this way for a while and the gloss is fantastic and I believe it last longer. So almost like a quick detailer/drying aid.
Great little video Dave, I will definitely be trying the apply method now as I never realised how much I was losing to the wind. I have a few spray on rinse off products and I'll be using your method from now on as it takes up barely more time to do. Brilliant advice mate. 👍

Great video David, thanks for sharing. I'm reverting back to Wet Coat. It's just too good and too easy lol. I wash my car so often durability isn't even a concern. I'm in the northeast part of the U.S. so I'm curious how well it holds up this winter.
Thankyou, this is a great product if your not overly fussed about durability, even at that you will still get a good couple of months out of it. itll be interesting to see how it does over the winter months out there.
Thank you so much for sharing this compare and contrast video. What I must ask is, do you re-use the applicators after a wash, or do you just throw them away? I don't know if WetCoat is similar to ceramic coating in the sense that it'll crystallize and destroy/crystallize the microfibers causing damage to panels.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. I found that this product doesn’t crystallise the same as what a pure ceramic coating would do so a wash with some microfiber wash liquid does the trick for me
Yeah I think method 2 works best to get full coverage of the panel and it prevents you from wasting product. You’ll need to let me know how you get on.
@@DavidMcBay It's been almost a month now and the performance hasn't deteriorated at all, it's like I coated it yesterday. I'm exited to see if it lasts longer than 2 months with this method (winters in Sweden will destroy any sealants or waxes due to the dirt/grime and road salts).

Hi David, out of interest have you tried this as a drying aid? obviously appreciate this is not the intended use. I'm probably going to get some as an alternative to Autoglym's Polar Seal that i apply via a spray bottle (crazy value 20ml + 1 liter, does 2 cars) great over the winter as a toper. I assume wet coat is still one of your favourites?
Ive never diluted it down to use although would make an interesting test. It is still a favorite product however i do really enjoy using the Blitz ceramic QD, it makes an excellent spray on rinse off and is my goto for the winter months. Its also a hell of a lot cheaper than wet coat
Yeah you are best to dry it off with a drying towel or air blower if your fortunate enough to have one to avoid any water spots forming from the car drying naturally.
Do you need to change the microfiber applicator after each panel, or spray it off? Or can you just use the same one for entire car without messing with it?
I've not used this although its on my to try list but if im honest it struggle to see how a spray on rinse off will coat a full panel evenly as surely the area being hit is going to get more of the product on it, rven on a wet panel
I have never used it on top of polar seal but have used as a topper to many other forms of protection so I don’t think you would have an issue layering it on top
Hi, loved your informative video. It is impressive and at the same a bit shocking the way of application method is different than Gyeon recommends. A quick question, would you recommend gyen wetcoat on gyeon cancoat for every wash? Or rather maybe once every month after the wash? Thanks
Hi Emrah, thankyou for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. In one of my previous videos I demonstrated Gyeon Bathe + and if I have already got can coat applied I would just wash with bathe + and you wouldn’t need to worry about using wet coat, Bathe + is an excellent product for keeping your protection topped up
How long this product will last. How often I need to apply to the car? Do I have to do anything prior? Eg using coating. Or wax. Or I just apply it direct in the clean wet car? It will last 2 3 4 months? Please let me know the appriate application and the appropriate procedure please! Thanks.
Generally your looking at around 2 months durability however with the ease of application this product can be topped up once a month to maintain performance. No coatings required, just wash the car as normal then apply the product. Hope that helps.
@@DavidMcBay Don't know, I'd try it under the car as a water and dirt repellent to minimise the chances of rusting through the winter, and a foam cannon looks like a good way to apply it.
@@DavidMcBay maybe try 20-40ml with a couple hundred ml water in a canon to get round the car? Polar seal works this way but doesn’t have the supposed durability of Wet coat and dry and shine from TW.
@@DavidMcBay supposedly this makes it much easier and convenient to apply in the winter however I am skeptical it will last as long and perform as well as your second method in this video with ultimately appears to be the best method to use.
Yeah its great for wheels, Ive never experienced using it in the sun tbh might try it on my test panel next time the suns out which by the looks of it will be next year now.
great video David, always better to wipe with a wet MF towel, to make sure you fully cover the panels before rinse, i think the Gyeon spray and rinse method just wastes product. Try TW Dry & Shine, works just as well as Wetcoat (i use it on wheels all the time, but ideal for winter use, when time is short & its damn cold), but half the price. Bathe + also good, would also suggest AM Details Hybrid Shampoo, ideal for topping up any existing protection each wash (Hybrid Sealant/Detailer). 😁
Thanks Iain, ive yet to try out the AM hybrid range but its on the list. i do like the ease of wetcoat even applying using an MF its still super quick to get round the car in just a few minutes. I really didn't realize how much wasteage there was with the spray on method, any wind and it just gets carried away.
Method two looked the best from here. Method 4 the recommended method from Gyeon wasn’t really a fair comparison as you missed the section above the door hand on the first and second run and only really sprayed the middle of the door on the second run. That being said I still think Method 2 would have been the best from what I could see.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. I agree method 2 gets great results, it was a windy day when I was making the video which didn’t help.

@@Theseones great to hear that, I’ve just done my mums car with it a couple of weeks ago, it really is a perfect product for use in winter time.
Excelente video, gracias por brindar tus conocimientos. Voy a tratar de conseguir y aplicar dicho producto sobre mí automóvil, saludos desde argentina!
Thankyou
Strong accent buddy. Good vid. Thanks.
Thankyou, its funny cause when i hear my voice in my videos i do think is that really how my accent sounds 😂
Method 2 looks the best to me. After you rinse it off do you need to dry the panel with a drying towel or just leave it?
Yeah you are best to dry it off with a drying towel or air blower if your fortunate enough to have one to avoid any water spots forming from the car drying naturally.
Do you need to change the microfiber applicator after each panel, or spray it off? Or can you just use the same one for entire car without messing with it?
Yeah no need to change it for each panel, 1 will do the full car
I've not used this although its on my to try list but if im honest it struggle to see how a spray on rinse off will coat a full panel evenly as surely the area being hit is going to get more of the product on it, rven on a wet panel
It’s a good product by I think there is similar stuff now for much cheaper
That helped me out a lot..thank you, good video!
Thanks mate
I'm new to the product. Are you supposed to wash and wax your vehicle and then apply or just wash the vehicle and use the "wet coat" as the wax?
It can be used as a stand alone product or over the top of an existing wax to top up the protection.
I have been using Autoglym's Polar Seal would Wet Coat be okay on top of it or is it better to do one or the other in your opinion?
@@DavidMcBay thanks thanks!
@@DavidMcBay which is the best method of applying? 1st? Or 3?
@@vasileiospetropoulos2046 i would go with the second method personally I think that provides the best coverage then when topping up method 4.
@@DavidMcBay)
nice one! the pad aplicator was wet/damped with water or only sprayed with Wetcoat?
Thankyou, It was just sprayed with wet coat.
Method 4 is the recommended method PAN the detailer and Forensic Detailer
It may be the recommended method but doesn’t make it the best, Geyon also say to apply it indoors, how many of us have the ability to do that?
Now what if you use a foam lance to spread it and then rinse?
Thats something ive never tried with this, I guess the big question would be what ratio would you go with?
@@DavidMcBay Don't know, I'd try it under the car as a water and dirt repellent to minimise the chances of rusting through the winter, and a foam cannon looks like a good way to apply it.
@@DavidMcBay maybe try 20-40ml with a couple hundred ml water in a canon to get round the car? Polar seal works this way but doesn’t have the supposed durability of Wet coat and dry and shine from TW.
@@kwl189 will give this a bash next time, i need to refill on wet coat so will get a bigger bottle and try that out.
@@DavidMcBay supposedly this makes it much easier and convenient to apply in the winter however I am skeptical it will last as long and perform as well as your second method in this video with ultimately appears to be the best method to use.
I use Wet Coat on wheels as it's literally: clean wheels, spray and rinse. Amazing product but never use this in the sun.
Yeah its great for wheels, Ive never experienced using it in the sun tbh might try it on my test panel next time the suns out which by the looks of it will be next year now.
Thank you, sir
Most welcome
I used a paste wax lasts good 6 months. How long reckon this last. Cheers
for this product i would say 2 months before youd be looking to reapply for optimum results
@@DavidMcBay thanks. Must have a go with this Wet Coat and also PW by Koch. Compare value for money on trade cars
Which Citrus pre wash cheers.
i like the infinity wax citrus pre wash
@@DavidMcBay Yes see eve GSF sell this in 5L. Need get one try different Citrus's, thanks
great video David, always better to wipe with a wet MF towel, to make sure you fully cover the panels before rinse, i think the Gyeon spray and rinse method just wastes product.
@@DavidMcBay ah fair enough. Mate. Wind plus spraying are not a good combo. I’ll be watching more if your videos 👍🏽
Thanks mate really appreciate that, yeah unfortunately my driveway can be a bit of a wind tunnel at times which can be a right pain the but.
great video Bud Hooked
Thankyou for watching.
I can't understand why your BMW is so loud. BMW's are mostly quiet cars but that diesel is as loud as a diesel pickup
I think the camera makes it sound much louder than it is, I wouldn’t be able to go check tho as I haven’t had the car for over a year now
Garage therapy sent all that product to you free? seems like they trying to buy youchoobers, major red flag
In this instance no Garage Therapy didn’t send me a single product used in this video, these were all bought with my own hard earned money.
UK has stringent laws therefore you get watered down GYEON 😊
hmmmm not sure about that
You half/as$ sprayed it on the spray and rinse, that’s why it didn’t take too well
Grow up, that’s just what happens in the wind.
That BMW engine sounds like a sh!t box.
Dirty diesels always sound horrendous on camera
