00:00 (You said it would only take one game to rediscover) your identity. Did this feel like that?
00:03 STEVE KERR: Yeah, it did. I mean, we held them to 103 points and 42 percent shooting, fought like crazy defensively, took care of the ball, got out and ran. I felt like that felt like our team. And I think Dennis - you could see Dennis's impact tonight on the game, but also what he's going to mean to our team, his leadership way. He was pulling guys aside during the timeout to talk to them, encouraging them, even admonishing them when they needed to be admonished. So we need Dennis's leadership, but his ball-handling, his - the way he takes pressure off of Steph, I think that allowed Steph to stay fresh and close the game out the way he did. So, felt like a really good night for our team. We needed the win, obviously, but I did feel like we got kind of back to who we are.
01:02 And how do you get that kind of night from Trayce and Brandin more consistently, going forward?
01:06 Yeah. Well, we gotta lean into Trayce. I think he's started the season, well, started the first 15-whatever games and because of different circumstances, we went away from him. And he's really responded well. But having a big who can finish like that in the paint makes a big difference. You could see that tonight.
01:33 The defense, first quarter, first, second quarter, and down the stretch, what did you see on that side of the ball tonight?
01:37 Just a lot of energy, a lot of force and defending without fouling, forcing the shots that we wanted them to take. They missed some that they're normally going to make, too. So it's not like we were perfect, but I think the game connected for us tonight. We took care of the ball, so we weren't vulnerable in transition. That's always a huge factor, defensively, when you can play in the halfcourt. And then when we got in the halfcourt, guys did a really good job.
02:11 Andrew in particular with this play and on Randle, how impactful was he on that?
02:15 Yeah Wiggs did not have his best night offensively, so I was really proud of him for the way he finished the game. He had that huge block on Randle's turnaround. I thought that was kind of the backbreaker. And I love when guys have a defensive night when things aren't going well because it's what it's all about. You gotta compete and play, no matter what's happening. And Wiggs was a big factor in the win tonight, despite the fact that his shots weren't going.
    02:48 Steve, was Draymond precautionary?
02:50 No, he tweaked something this morning at shootaround and it didn't clear up. And so we definitely weren't going to put him out there. It was really fun to see Kyle out there on his old home court. The reception he got from the crowd was fantastic. There's a reason Kyle is beloved everywhere he goes, the ultimate pro. He's meant so much to us this year, leadership-wise and helped us in a big way tonight, getting a win against his old team. So it's fun to see Kyle have that kind of night.
03:24 Have you ever gone through a delay like that for a net?
03:27 No, I've seen net problems, but they're usually resolved a little quicker. I had no idea there was this metal ring underneath the net. I saw them remove the ring and I didn't even know that existed. So I don't know. It doesn't seem like it should be that complex, but apparently it is.
03:46 Were Steph's minutes in that second half by design or did something happen in the game that impacted you not having him at the end of the third to start the fourth and didn't bring him in--
03:54 Yeah, Dennis's fourth foul. I told - once he picked up his fourth, I told Steph in the timeout, I said, "I'm gonna run you, take Dennis out early." I didn't want Dennis to pick up his fifth and normally Dennis would stay in until the three-or-four minute mark. So I flipped their rotations and it felt like the right thing to do. And it's something we'll consider. We, of course, we always want Steph to feel confident and comfortable in his rotation. And we've been - we've tried everything this year and a million starting lineups and all that stuff. But we'll get there. But I love having that option to have either Dennis or Steph on the floor at all times.
04:42 Is the Kuminga starting the game at power forward, is that experiment over?
04:48 Not necessarily. I mean, you just don't know how circumstances are going to play out. I felt really good about Kyle starting tonight with Trayce, with Dennis. It just seemed like a better lineup combination. JK played well off the bench. You don't know how these things are going to shake out.
05:07 Going back to the crunch time, just the finish. What kind of carryover can that have, closing a game when that's been a struggle this year?
05:15 Yeah, that can give you confidence. We got stops. And I love the possession where Steph got off the ball and we went, swing, swing. He, I think, he threw it to either Trayce or Gary in the pocket, swing to Wiggs. Wiggs swings it to Dennis. It comes back to Steph. That's the game right there. And that's what we're trying to impart on our young players. We have Steph Curry on our team, so pass the ball, move the ball. And if Steph gets off it early because he's gained an advantage now, the defense is scrambled. And this is how we've played for 10 years and it's important for our young players to understand, we don't need contested 17-footers with 12 on the shot clock, right? That's a bad shot. And I talked to our guys about that during several timeouts. It's something we have to recognize and get better with. When you have Steph Curry on the team, you pass the ball. Because pass it two or three times, the defense is scrambling, all hell breaks loose. So it's a choice. We can either do that and win games or we can shoot a whole bunch of 15-foot contested shots in the middle of the shot clock and be a lousy NBA team. It's up to us and we are hammering that point home with our team. Thank you.
06:41 How good does it feel to you to win, especially the quality of win with defense and late-game execution?
06:46 BRANDIN PODZIEMSKI: Feels good. Definitely needed it after losing 9-of-11. Happy for everyone that partook in the victory tonight.
06:54 What was it like seeing Steph doing what he was doing down the stretch?
06:58 Yeah, it's good to see him back to what he usually does. We're accustomed to seeing it, so it's good to see him do it again.
07:09 Steve ended his press conference by talking about how some of the young players on the team are still learning how to play with Steph, some shots early in the shot clock are not good shots, we need to pass the ball, that's what you do when you have Steph Curry on your team, that kind of thing. When you hear that message, what do you think?
07:31 I don't think. I just play. When I'm out there, if I'm open, I'll shoot it. If not, make a play. I don't really look too much into - I know we have Steph Curry on the court and if he's open, I'm gonna throw the ball to him. But yeah, I don't really look in too deep into those messages.
07:52 What did Trayce give you guys tonight? How impactful was his force?
07:55 Yeah, I think he could have had a double-double in the first quarter. It was really impressive. I think he had 7-and-7 after the first quarter. So, just to see his dominance against Defensive Player of the Year, it was special to see and it shows a lot of people what he can grow and blossom into.
08:11 What have you seen from him behind-the-scenes, as you've been in and out of the lineup and rotation and whatnot? How has he handled that?
08:16 Yeah, I think him along with all of our young guys, me, him, JK, Moses minutes inconsistent up and down. We've all just not really worried about the external factors of things we couldn't control. And we're all just putting our head down to work. Obviously, Mo has been injured last couple, but he's been working. Trayce has been working me and JK as well. So, we're just kind of doing what's asked of us and we're just putting our head down and working.
08:44 What's kind of turned around for you? It looks like you've gotten into a really good flow these last two games.
08:49 Nothing at all. I've been putting in the same work I've been putting in all season. Obviously, this is a results-based league, results-based business. So it feels good to be back to somewhat of my normal self. But I haven't changed anything. Just been doing the same stuff I've been doing all year.
09:05 What were the last 48 hours like for this team after that 51-point loss in Memphis? I think Trayce said, like, the team flight felt a little different. It was more bonding.
09:14 Yeah, I mean, music was blasting, playing cards. Everybody - you wouldn't have known if we lost by 50 or won by 50. Just remain optimistic about what we have in the locker room. We know it's a long season. And whatever our record is supposed to be, it's going to end up being that way. If they lose by 50 or you lose by one, you still get one loss. So we don't really trip over it. And we just move on to the next one because that's what we can control. And it's a good showing all around from everybody.

While Little B has demonstrated promise, he still has areas to improve. I believe he has the potential to be a valuable role player in the NBA, but his attitude and demeanor definitely require adjustments. There are concerns that his current approach might not be well-received by teammates and coaches. A stint in the G-League could provide him with valuable experience and potentially foster a more conducive environment for his development.

I love BP. I admire his ability and confidence. Steph is my man but we can’t be looking for him and turning over balls when we have options

The play revolves around Steph; that's why opponents have predicted his motion offense. When Steph is off, it can result in a blowout loss, like what happened against the Grizzlies.

Gonna keep making same point. You can't have more than one non shooter starting an NBA game that's gone bunkers and beautiful shooting from distance. Means either Dray or Trace comes off bench, but not start same time....

Podz why do you seem sad or down? You had your best game of the season tonight, seems like he's not happy with the Curry talk.

Good to see GSW find their mojo again. Maybe Dub nation can put down their pitch forks against Podz and Kerr for a few weeks? This is an interesting series of recent interviews. I hope Kerr's message is just the emphasis of hunting for better shots. What if Steph doesn't get open? Podz "I don't look too deep in to those messages" - probably not the best answer :) and Trayce seems more likely to pass up potential 1-on-1 at rim situations and passes out.
