Last turn you could go to research station, get a yellow card, infiltrate to interstaller shipping - up and down. Then you get an influence for fremen which complete memcorder, and 5 more solaris which complete the intrigue card. That would be two more points. Since you get three cards from research station, it is highly possible that you can still buy a spice must flow.
Round 4 you could first step up in a guild, then get a bonus to discard a dagger and then trash the dagger. Also Round 5 is such a comical fight to the death on the fremen track all the while they ddin't reach 2 step VPs in other tracks. That's why i rarely go for alliances unless i really need that bonus or i can hold onto it 100%, just because people go crazy over alliances.
The fight for Alliances is one of the best parts of the game, it can be so painful though. Can certainly be a trap - sometimes I can resist and sometimes I can't.

I think you could gameplan your next move to speed up your turn. There's a lot of times where the clock starts to tick and you rush into a decision.

R2 why not first get up on the Fremen track, get the snooper bonus, and then play the ring to go up somewhere else?
