Thanks for this video, I purchased 8 of the Catalyst PTI freshwater reels back in 2004 (4 each) in 20 and 30 sizes. One by one all failed and I did the same JB Weld fix. Nearly 20 years later and the reels still work great. The earlier Quantum reels dating back 15-20 years are far superior to the plastic housing reels of today.
Just tried this with a Quantum Catalyst 20 pti, using Gorilla Glue gel. It works better already but haven’t applied much pressure as it takes 24 hours for the glue to fully cure. I was careful with the glue since too much and it gets in the bearings and too little wouldn’t be enough hold. I did need to use a small screwdriver too work the bearing out of the cap, it was loose until about halfway out. I think this is going to work and I’m going to get my reel back in action. Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching! Happy to hear it helped. The person I did it for hasn't brought it back, so I'm assuming it's still holding steady. Yes, the amount of glue used had to be judged carefully, and give it 2 days to cure before testing it out. Let your friends know about the channel. More vids to come!
Thank you for the video. I encountered this problem with a Quantum Kinetic 10 reel. Unfortunately, this fix did not work for me because the metal sleeve wouldn’t come out of the plastic ratchet so I was unable to glue it so the sleeve would stop slipping.
I am trying to get this working on my quantum pt s3 smoke inshore spinning reel. I took it apart to clean and oil and found out I’m should have piled that anti reverse. Oops wonder if this will work on that also?
Thanks for reaching out. Not sure.... maybe you did a poor glue job. Maybe your anti-reverse is too far gone. Adding weight (vis a vis, the spool) to anything will increase the load and expose any flaws. If your glue-job hasn't failed, then your a/r is shot.

I sat with this thing for 2 hrs and I couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong... thank you.

Thanks for watching. Is it the same a/r and ratchet configuration?

Thanks for watching. The a/r on the S3 is not the same as what I'm showing in this video. What do you mean by piled?
Give bearing assembly liquid a try. It may bond the metal to the plastic.
Thanks for watching and the tip. Got a link for the product?
Loctite Retaining Compound. Various strengths sold on Amazon.😊
I’ve got it to work without the spool, but when I put the spool on it doesn’t work anymore. What’s up with that?

All my Quantum Spinning reels doing this now. Done with the rebranded Zebco junk.
Thanks for checking out the video. It's a tough one since it's difficult to find replacements.
