Hello. Thank you for the informative and organized video. We're kicking around a few places to go to next and I think Marrakech is it. Quick question: Can you go to the desert without the use of camels or is that how most of the tours operate? Thanks for your help.
Yes you can go to the desert by 4x4 as well! I didn’t see them in Merzouga, but there are some other deserts where they operate. In Merzouga specifically, we did see some people on ATVs exploring the desert. It might have been a shorter tour.
Great video, but some people may not want to support the snake charmers and guys with monkeys doing tricks. The animals are not willing participants, and sadly this is the case with the "goats in trees" as well. There are very many other wonderful things to do, so it's not hard to avoid animal abusers in Morocco!

Thank you. I might be going to Marrakech in March of 2024. What is the temp there in March? Is it warm enough to swim? Is the US dollar pretty good there? I might spend one week in Marrakech and one week in Casablanca.
March is probably a good time to go! not too warm, not too cold (average around 23C / 73F). We were in Morocco in December and it was also pretty nice. Coming from the US, Morocco will be cheap... can't compare the prices really.
It’s relatively safe. But don’t expect the safety you have in Europe / North America. There’s more chaos (traffic on the road), hustlers, and poor infrastructure. Though Marrakech has some great hotels that would be family-friendly and if you get a guide, it’s also a lot safer and convenient ☺️
Free walking tours tend to consist of the guide taking you to places they get paid for or are related to, not exactly the real Marrakesh you think. Happens everywhere.
Actually our tour guide didn’t take us into any shop! Was probably the nicest city tour guide we had in all of Morocco. But you’re right that it sometimes does happen unfortunately.
People speak English, but it's not as widely spoken as French. If you know a bit of French, it's easier to get around. We sometimes used our Google Translate to communicate though.. it works if you get a SIM card with some data ;). Road directions are generally pretty easy, but sometimes the signage can be in French (like ralentir = slow down)
We did this trip in November of 2022 (3 months ago). At the time we went, the only mandate is that you had a proof of vaccine to be able to travel into the country. Once we were there, masks were encouraged in busy indoor areas, but there were no rules about it.
Do you think it's safe to travel around Marrakech as a single female? Planning a trip in the fall (October) . Last time I was there I was with a tour group so I felt safe. Also going back to Cairo and Cape Town on the same trip. Plan on going for 2-3 weeks.
Yes I think it’s fine if you stay in the tourist zone. Would definitely dress appropriately as a woman (shoulders and knees covered) otherwise you’ll get some looks!
@@joannflorez2667 you can go to jail in Morocco even if you only had a dream messing with tourists. Any problem Just raise one ✋ hand and everybody around becomes undercover officers.
Stay away from empty ally’s. Go in a group if you can. Don’t we’re flashy jewelry and watch out for pick-pockets. All in all, Morocco is extremely safe. I lived in Kenitra for years, which is just north of Rabat.
Honestly, marrakesh and fes was the most stressful and disappointing place we visited. We were being scammed from the moment we came out of the airport. The food was bland everywhere we ate.. (we travel for food experiences too) walking through the Medina was a whole other ordeal. We were constantly harassed and followed and told they will show us the way but they want money. We knew before going to expect it but honestly it was more than we anticipated. The constant scams took away the beauty of the history. and actually we wanted to buy more, but you're pushed so much you just want to get out. This had been my bucket list of 20 years, and I was so let down. Also beware Of the lady who will grab your hand and start putting henna on you without your consent. She grabbed me and put something thatbwas NOT henna on me but blank ink that didn't wash off. You can find videos about her specifically from orher travelers. Our favorite trip was Istanbul. It was fun, local live music on every corner, people sipping wine enjoying life no matter what religion you are or not, you didn't feel out of place in Turkey the people were very hospitable and down to earth people. It's ashame places like morocco gets more attention than Istanbul. My husband is from Pakistan and I am from Louisiana. We are both rich in culture and have traveled all over the world. The good points were the garden and beautiful to take pictures but other than that it was not worth it. :(
What if I just came from Turkey and I visited spice markets, Bazaars and had street food. Like I didn't buy anything from shop owners in Istanbul. What do I do then ?
Why should you be careful eating vegetables and fruit? I think it's sensible to watch fruit and vegetables before eating them, whether in in Marrakesh or in any onther city in the world.
Because they're sometimes washed in dirty water. We heard from other travellers that they got sick after eating raw vegetables (actually quite a few people told us that). That said, we didn't have any problems (not in Marrakech - neither in the rest of Morocco).
This is true. The water in these types of countries is often more dirty. Not saying Moroccans are dirty but every time I go to northern African countries I get sick within 2-3 days every single time. I have been 6 times to Morocco and it's always the same.
Water in Developing countries is not treated with the same rigour as the Developed world, simply because it is too costly. We forget that at our own peril. There are many water borne bacteria than range from giving you mild diarrhoea to making you extremely ill, from a temporary interruption to life long, or life threatening diseases ( remember diarrhoea is the biggest killer in the Developing world). Many Developed world nations also have areas of their country where water is not drinkable from a tap either. A rule of thumb when travelling, unless you explicity know it to be safe, never, ever, ever, ever drink non boiled tap water, never use it to brish your teeth and be really careful about it getting in your eyes, nose or mouth when washing your hair. AND unless you see it boiled for a minimum of 5 minutes right in front of you, don't drink boiled water either. If you are in a fancy hotel l, the kind that have a kettle in the room ( this goes for anywhere you are, ever) and the kettle has water in it, tip it out refill it yourself. People do VERY weird things in hotel rooms!! ( my son manages a hotel, the horror stories are endless)
Love to travel to Northern Africa but I never got sick because I never drink tap water or brush my teeth with it, never drink squeezed fruit juices from the street (only in fancy restaurants/cafe bars) where they know how to treat fresh fruit for turists, I also ask waiters in advance to wash fruits with bottle water in order not to get sick. Also, I try to eat clean food like rice and meat, or cooked vegetables, never raw, don't eat risky food from the street in general. If you are keeping it safe, you will be fine and enjoying your trip. Every time when I m traveling with group, lot of people get sick because they don't watch what they eat and I m allways the one who is healthy.😊 The same rules are valid for Thailand. Greetings all travel lovers. ❤
The destinations you've explored don't capture the full essence of Morocco. A significant portion of the population grapples quietly with challenges like unemployment, inadequate education and healthcare, poverty, and mental health struggles. Additionally, a number of individuals, driven by desperation, risk their lives attempting to migrate to Europe. This is the stark reality that some influencers may overlook or choose not to share, but global awareness is growing, and the broader truths are increasingly hard to conceal.

Every time when I m traveling with group, lot of people get sick because they don't watch what they eat and I m allways the one who is healthy.😊 The same rules are valid for Thailand. Greetings all travel lovers. ❤
I got food poisoned after having the national dish beef tagine at a local recommended restaurant 💀
"Make sure they're washed in mineral water"... yeah.. Ok.. i'll be sure to ask.
The way you pronounce Morocco though
The American way? Where the O is pronounced like an A? Moracco
Can I travel to Marrakesh with my EU passport?
Yes of course! Just make sure your passport is valid for at least another 6 months when you enter. And that there’s a blank page to stamp!
Nobody is going for vacation to Morocco to discover their mental health struggles buddy.
Are you stupid?
Nothings up.
Здравствуйте. Может у кого есть знакомые, кто может написать пару фраз с русского, но на тифинаге? Очень хочу татуировку сделать, нет знакомых, кто мог бы помочь. Может у вас есть люди, кто владеет этой письменностью?
