Schoolgirls for Sale in Japan

  • Japan’s obsession with cutesy culture has taken a dark turn, with schoolgirls now offering themselves for “walking dates” with adult men. Last year the US State Department, in its annual report on human trafficking, flagged so-called joshi-kosei osanpo dates (that’s Japanese for “high school walking”) as fronts for commercial sex run by sophisticated criminal networks.
    In our exclusive investigation, VICE News host Simon Ostrovsky will bring you to one of Tokyo’s busiest neighborhoods, where girls solicit clients in their school uniforms, to a concert performed by a band of schoolgirls attended by adult men, and into a café, where teenage girls are available to hire by the hour. But the true revelations come behind closed doors, when schoolgirls involved in the rent-a-date industry reveal how they’ve been coerced into prostitution.

      @@cxramelty242 lmao actually what you said is a widely spread piece of misinformation (yeah I just had this conversation recently so I know). This is taken straight from wiki page on Age of Consent in Asia:
      > An array of local ordinances adopted in all 47 prefectures [...] forbid sexual acts judged "indecent" (淫行, inkō) between adolescents (persons under 18) and adults [...]. A 1985 decision of the Supreme Court of Japan on Fukuoka Prefecture's bylaw held that the ordinances were not to be broadly interpreted as forbidding all adult-adolescent sexual acts, [...] also ruled that adult-adolescent sexual acts within "socially accepted norms", such as those within marriage, engagement, or a "similar sincere relationship", were not "indecent".
      So yeah in practice these laws only apply to underage prostitution. Also I googled Youth Protection Laws of Tokyo and found Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance Regarding the Healthy Development of Youths, which "promotes the healthy development of people under the age of 18 by restricting their access to published material that is considered inappropriate" (again, wiki) and has nothing to do with age of consent. Are you sure it's the correct name?

AND JUST BECAUSE ITS LEGAL DOESNT MEAN ITS MORAL. its so weird how grown men try to defend the 13 year old law so much, and even as someone whos 15 its mad weird, i would not want to have relations with a 14 year old let alone 13. disgusting.

      @idrea43 2 роки тому +52

      I’m afraid that translation of yours is the only thing sick here. Age of consent is considerably lower in Japan (13 I think) so to them it’s like dealing with a girl with consent.
      Moreover, “exposing” the man for what? exploiting the girls exploiting themselves? That would never hold in a court of law, or just logically it’s unsound. The girls do it out of free will, but you strip them from both accountability for their actions and from their free choice.
      To add insult to injury, you don’t grasp that they have a different culture
      By no means am I an advocate for this foolishness, but place the blame where the blame is rightfully supposed to go

      @@idrea43 you're a sick individual if you think 13 year old girls are able to think logically and make these kind of decisions for themselves. Also stop using culture as an excuse. "Culture" is used to justify abuse and mutilation of genitalia where I'm from so that won't hold up in court either. It's disgusting. Not to mention some of these girls were specifically targeted from low income areas and are probably doing this to help their families. The blame goes to the men that are exploiting them. Point black.

      If culture isn't an excuse then the entire japanese government are pedophiles. Do you see how nonsensical the ramifications of your beliefs are? I ask that you think more perceptively in future. What's to blame is the predators and in many circumstances the girls themselves.
      And you can't crudely cross-reference culture as if they're all equally immoral.
      If the girls are being manipulated then obviously the manipulators are to blame. But don't try and shift accountability off all of the girls. Responsibility must be placed justly, not through a feminist lens. A healthy (or more accurately unhealthy) proportion of them walk into the industry by their own volition. And many of them are being targeted and exploited. The whole thing's a dumb idea in the first place.

    • @pussydestroyer69285
      @pussydestroyer69285 2 роки тому +101

      @@idrea43 well, if the entire Japanese government are well aware of this and even participate then yes. Yes, they are indeed pedos. Lol. Was that a way to try and make a point? Or? This has nothing to do with your view of feminism. This has everything to do with the exploitation of CHILDREN. Because Yes.. these girls are CHILDREN. I'm not gonna blame children for putting themselves in these situations when the adults around them have failed them. Again, no 13 year old girl is capable of making this kind of decision on her own free volition. The blame will always be placed on the predators. I don't know exactly why you want to start "blaming" the girls. Like what exactly does that mean? You want us to shame these children for being exploited? Lol. Nice try.

    • @idrea43
      @idrea43 2 роки тому +8

      @@pussydestroyer69285 Again, your lack of perceptivity leads you into a sad misunderstanding of what i'm saying. This isn't a black and white thing, don't make it out as though it is. There are undoubtedly girls who are targeted and procured. But there are also girls who voluntarily go into that sort of thing, at different ages. And to say the girls are entirely blameless is not distributing accountability justly. Like i said, no one cares for your feministic narrative when it comes to real life. This isn't about "shaming" like i said, simply a matter of justice. The procurers will always have an element of blame and in some instances so will the girls for actively seeking and accepting this.
      And you missed my point. The age of consent in japan is 13, regardless of this exploitation case. Are they pedophiles for that?
      Also thats an unsubstantiated claim, saying the entire japanese government is "In on it" (exploiting young girls). It's clear you aren't good at reasoning, i suggest you work on that.

      Definition of Yakuza: Officially recognised gangsters who are BORN into this multi-thousand year old cult. They even have their own Politicians, and even declare their ill gotten gains for Tax every year.
      When the Yakuza come to the attention of the international press, the Japanese will make some token gesture to make the press go away (such as a supposed law to ban them) but in reality everything will continue as before. 7:25 "i wouldnt wanna be a woman here"
    Really? You wouldnt want to be a woman in a country where she can literally walk SAFE in the pitch black night without any danger of rape or violent crime? Japan (tokyo itself) is one of the SAFEST places for women on the entire planet.
    If you WANT to sell yourself to older men, thats your own choice.
    My point is, if you were indeed a woman in tokyo, and you dont like that side of things, simply DONT do it.
    Its like saying you wouldnt wanna be a woman in America because you cant stand porn. Then just simply dont get into the porn business.
    Every woman in Japan isnt paying to be fondled by 50 year old men.
    Every woman in America isnt a pornstar.
    Isnt this common sense?

      Whether it's widespread or not is irrelevant, the point is it's happening & if it's happening to even just one girl, that's one girl too many. So stop being stupid and get your head out of the sand!

    • @Baleur
      @Baleur 8 років тому +17

      I don't want to start an argument here, but i'd dare to claim that i think rampant rape in other countries is a far worse problem than if 1 girl sells walking-dates to older men. At least in the latter tradgedy, the girl herself has some chance of choosing how far it goes.

      +Baleur Some women are nymphomaniacs too. Are we supposed to deny them their happiness?

    • @Baleur
      @Baleur 8 років тому +3

      David Crandall Indeed. But its very hard to discuss that fact. Despite it being half in jest, of course the truth is that there are women who genuinely choose this line of "work" due to that reason. As long as they have the power to choose their own clients, the power to say No.
      Almost comparable to a pornstar, if she is able to choose who she accepts, but without any video recording or photography taking place.
      But again, thats a detail thats very hard to discuss, because people often see it as sleazy men trying to give excuses for the proffession, or having a twisted view of reality.
      Naturally the real truth is that the vast majority of women in that kind of line of work dont want to do it, but we have to realize that a few are in fact nymphomaniacs, by the same logic that some men are nymphomaniacs.
      We can however agree on that the most important thing is that the woman has the power to say No. Whatever she chooses or wants to do when she says Yes, is entirely her own business. Pun intended.

Having worked with this guy for a few months, I got the impression that he had a thing for younger women, much younger. He loved Japan and all the odd $ that went on, but i suspected that he had other intentions?

    That has to be one of the absolute worst jobs ever, I have done some very high risk high fatality rate jobs which I would gladly do every day over having to do journalism concerning disgusting and absolutely horrific situations like underage trafficking situations. However we need journalists like this in order to catch the people responsible for these situations and castrate those scum bags with also cutting off both their hands as a reminder to them to stay out of that situation and forcibly shut these filthy and extremely emotionally destructive situations down around the world.

      +tSp289 I think that you are talking about Nanjing Massacre, sadly known also as Rape of Nanjing, commited by Japanese Imperial Army.
      As Spanish, we don´t know to much about this, but I have a Korean friend that told me that Japanese Army during early XX used many Korean and Chinese womans as sexual slaves.
      Sad to watch on 2016 old pedophiles buying young japanese womans as if they were mere products.

      Y5986 That is what I was referring to, also their brutal torture of prisoners of war during WW2 and the forced labour in building railways and bridges that was nearly as efficient at causing misery and death as the German concentration camps.
      Don't get me wrong, I think Japan is one of the most pleasant countries to visit in the world: amazing history, beautiful scenery and some fo the most helpful and polite people I've ever met, but I am glad they've forgotten that "warlike courage of their ancestors" and started (mostly) to be decent human beings. Sure, the schoolgirl thing is creepy, but there is no country on earth where shit like that doesn't happen.

      I went to a BABYMETAL concert in the Tokyo Dome back in 2018 and hooked up with a bunch of Japanese guys, all in their 30s, I guess. We went to an afterparty afterwards and then we all enthusiastically discussed who our favorite barely legal teen was, lol.
      Yeah, but for real, I'm in love with Japan, but I've seen (and experienced) first hand the very shady and downright ugly side of it too. I even met one of those young girls late at night in an alley and she was just standing there and probably selling herself (I walked by a few times that evening, so she definitely wasn't waiting for a bus there). She was crying, so I gave her a hug. :-/
