@Ryan, that is a very hard question. It is complicated by personal preference of two and four door vehicles and what you want to use them for. In the full-size category the Dodge Charger R/T MAX AWD. You can get a fully loaded one for under $40K and with 370-hp and premium technology/features it is a great vehicle. Plus AWD in many climates means you can go almost anywhere. The Ford Fusion is a great mid-size and the Nissan Maxima still rates highly on our list for value for performance/features

Thank you! And, since you mentioned the 2013 Dodge Charger R/T MAX, we will be doing an update review since it is about to hit 3,000 miles since we did the first report. Stay tuned.

Great video! Just wanted to ask you your personal opinion, based on speed and interior, what would the best car be for under $40k?

@watzonda2b You should mention that to the Ford executives and engineers, because "show" is how they themselves refer to it at the auto shows.

The Taurus is not a full size car, it's always been a mid-size. The Crown Vic was a full size car. That being said, I recently bought a used (2014) Taurus sel AWD with 88k miles. I nabbed it before the prices on used cars started getting out of control - I was also fortunate to get my first choice of interior & exterior colors. I'm not easily impressed, but in this case, I truly am. This car is tight, quiet, handles great and is surprisingly fast! I gave it a good work out during a couple of recent snow storms, and the car used it's all wheel drive to navigate safely and securely thru deep snow and slippery roads. This may be the last car I'll every need!

You'd be right for the earlier models like 2010 under. After that it was upgraded to a full size sedan. Put a 2013 next to a Charger and you'll the Taurus is even slightly bigger.

Good review but the SHO stands for super high output....hence S_H_O....should not be pronounced as the word "show"

Uhh... too many digital displays, and too much voice activation.. NOW technology is getting scary! it's making drivers WAY more lazy.. nope not for me... I'm with you, on getting the Dodge Charger! that's just enough high tech, while giving a lot of manual control!!
    awesome video Jon!
