I interpret the line “put a price on emotion I’m looking for something to buy” as a metaphor, meaning he’s so emotionally drained and struggling to feel emotion that he will literally do anything just to feel something. To me “You sunshine you temptress” means that this person can be very pure but also very deceiving. The line “my hands at risk I fold” resonates with me so much. It’s a metaphor referencing to poker. When you don’t have any moves left you fold, or in other words you give up before you lose anything. What I think he means here is that no matter how much he loves someone he folds, because he can’t bare to feel the pain of losing them. He loves this person so much but he is too scared to get hurt so he feels that folding (leaving) is the only option. To me “Spreading you open is the only way of knowing you” means that the only way he feels like he can be vulnerable or close with this person is through sex. Fine Line is literally one of the most beautiful songs ever written. You can listen to it when you're sad, depressed, or even happy, hopeful, on the beach, while driving ... It has slowly become my favourite song and it has helped me so much throughout my first (and hope last) devastating break-up. I can't recall how many times I've cried myself to sleep while listening to it ... Thank you Harry for pouring all your emotions into fine line and sharing it with us all. You saved me, somehow. Can't wait to see you in concert next year.

i think this song is so sad because it makes us feel like there’s hope; it’s physically telling us we’ll be alright. and that’s unfortunately something a lot of us dont hear or feel anymore. so its a hopeful sadness which is why i think listening to this song is so intense.
this song makes me sad but brings me hope and makes me feel alive at the same time, this song is so beautiful and powerful and harry is SUCH a talented man.

the first time i listened to the album i just immediately started sobbing when i got to this song like,, i just knew it would be amazing. since i've heard it it has always been my favorite, i cry everytime i listen to it. there's just something about it that makes me so emotional but so happy at the same time. “we'll be alright” might be a simple lyric but it's so so meaningful

This song is like giving myself a hug and saying "It's all going to be okay." This is my happy and sad song. The anthem to my life. It's when everything is crumbling and falling apart but then you just remember that this pain is temporary and you just need to let that negative shit go. This song (despite harry singing about a romantic relationship) makes me think of my dad (and just the shit show that is my life in general). More specifically the three lines, "You've got my devotion, but man, I can hate you sometimes. I don't want to fight you." I cry every time I listen to this song. Bless you Harry for being the beautiful person you are, inside and out.
