I thought Cenk was bad….
Epoch Times don't fund the show. They paid for the first advert that's all. Just as Better Help paid for the second ad and is also listed as a sponsor.
Epoch Times is a political entity, and showing their ads is implicit support of their opinions.
I have a buddy who loves Sam Harris and it’s incredibly cringe the way he talks about islam is insane
Islam is unjustified medieval religious nonsense you should be able to criticize Islam without conflating that with bigotry against Muslims, that’s not the same.
Hasan's understanding of Sam Harris is just as black and white and lacking in nuance as he accuses Sam's view of Islam is. Harris is annoying with the constant "wokeism" language, but he's a very eclectic thinker and all over the place. I think Hasan is great at explaining things but he's also super biased in his own ways.
Sam’s philosophy on Islam is thoroughly wrong on both an empirical level and in terms of materialist analysis. Michael Brooks (RIP) absolutely dismantles it in his book. And when you understand how flawed his arguments about Islam are, it’s easy to understand how an actual Muslim would feel about him, let alone someone with Hasan’s politics. It’s bad enough that Sam has bad takes on Islam but it calls the rigor of all his other takes into question, which is why he gets proven wrong all the time by guys like Hasan, like Brooks, like Sam Seder and even by actual academics who specialize in the topics he pretends to know a lot about.
what nuance is there?
lmao, is this fr?
