The worse gift I have ever received is the same book for the second year in a row for my birthday from the same person.
For a wedding gift from my best friend & her husband, they gave my husband & I a $17.89 bed bath & beyond gift card!?! I was a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding the year before I got married & spent so much to be in her wedding & all the festivities surrounding it & their multiple gifts (over $500). We had a very small wedding, so all of the traditional stuff somebody else would have to spend money on they didn't have to for ours, literally all they had to do was get us a gift & show up on the day as guests. My best friend didn't have time to shop for a gift for us so she told her husband to do it. He bought a $20.00 gift card, then paid for our card with the gift card & gave us the remaining balance!?!

With gifts, it's the thought that counts... and that cuts both ways. AKA some gifts can be expensive, but show such little thought that it is almost worse than getting nothing, because it just shows how little the person knows/cares about your interests. And other gifts might not cost much at all, but REALLY show how much a friend or family member gets you.
Case in point: Giving a vegan an expensive cheese and meat gift basket (yup, it happened) vs a good friend giving me a homemade coupon to take me to my favorite farmer's market.
When I got my first apartment my sister gave me a used vacuum cleaner and I mean USED!!
The car was def the best gift. I’d love that and a lot of people would want and/or be grateful about that
As someone who's sitting here hungry & poor; the meat 🥩 gift would have been my most appreciated gift I could have EVERY received.. that would keep my freezer & fridge stocked for quite awhile, making MANY different dishes from the meat.

I enjoyed the honesty of the $53,000 check one. I xant imagine many folks being ok with the grandparents donating their inheritance. Evem tho its their money to do with what they want, whos to say that the grandchild couldn't have started a business and been able to donate much more.

I was reading an article about a museum of broken relationships and one of the items was a frisbee that the person got as an anniversary gift. Obviously, they weren’t very pleased. I know that it’s the thought that counts but sometimes the the gift says a lot on how you view the person.
For my retirement my one co-worker gave me the most insulting gift she gave me a life alert bracelet and told me since I was old now that what I needed as a 60 yr old just retiring firefighter

The worst gift I ever received was a stained prom dress for my 21st birthday. My ( rich ) friend had spilt a cocktail during the dance and thought I'd be pleased with her cast-off. I had bought her her favourite perfume and spa tokens for her birthday. We're not even the same size.

@@annabels_diary We were friends for a long time even after that. I'm ashamed to say I was a wimp and to be fair she had some good points too. We didn't keep in touch after our lives went different ways. She is probably still as insensitive but I'm much more confident now.

The worst gift I have ever received was the old time paper towel holder that you have to screw into the side of the cabinet. PS it was the one where the flaps fold in so the paper towels never really fit in it😂😂😂😂. You all are awesome

The worst gift I received was a T-shirt that would not look good on anyone from Walmart, from my grandparents, while my three year old cousin got a giant trampoline.
The Izzy with the little shoulder tattoo is a knockout. All of the girls are pretty tho.
During my High School end of year class, we did an exchanged gift. The gift we received is based on what number we got from the gacha bowl. I ended up getting a big gift. Turns out, its wrapped in lots and lots and LOTS of newspaper to make it look like it's a big gift and it turned up tiny. I got a soft handkerchief, a one dollar and 20 cent as well as dried salted fish. DRIED. SALTED. FISH.

I actually knew a couple whom the guy bought tickets to a concert of their favourite band 6 months ahead as their anniversary gift (they were together for a couple of years already at that time), & within 2 months they split. The guy told the girl to just keep the tickets & bring her new bf (she cheated on him that's why they broke up lol)
