Is this a stitched sensor or a single full frame sensor? Also, the extended highlight feature is amazing! So glad they are fixing the horrible audio preamps in regular V-Raptor. I want to upgrade my cameras asap
At $53K AUD this is 10K more expensive than the Sony Burano. Although Red has more frame rate options starting at 2K 17:9 to 8K 120fps, you still need to get all the added gear on top. Burano has the EVF, built in ND's. Limited frame rates as you go higher in resolution.
I watched your footage from the Sigma fp height. Your footage taken on Red is of very low quality, it probably has nothing to do with the camera. It's just hard to believe... In the studio the picture is simple, with excessive contrast.
So will Blackmagic sue Red for essentially using the same highlight recover trick? It's not like Red doesn't sue everyone and their grandmother for using compressed raw
It doesn't seem to be the same function of reconstructing of the clipped RGB channels. Or I can't imagine it is when it gives 3 stops more of dynamic range.
@@MarkusFinholt I get more 2.4 stops of DR in the highlights with the Pocket 6k with highlight recovery, but certainly not 3. Red also states that the data rate doubles with extended highlights. I'm wondering if they're duplicating the image with different exposures... if so, then there's no infringement on Blackmagic's highlight recovery. But man, that data rate sounds problematic, so use sparingly
Red already does the same kind of highlight recovery as black magic, half a stop, maybe up to a stop of recovery which is reconstructed from unclipped channels and will have inaccurate colors. whereas this is likely similar to what Red's old cameras did, which is shoot 2 frames and combine them.
@@leebrandt8597 that's likely EXACTLY what they're doing, because it's disabled above a certain ISO. My guess is that they're drastically underexposing the duplicate, and anything above a certain ISO is pointless if you're trying to capture highlights only. God, just the processing power involved in making that work in real time alone is nuts.
So don't expect this to be great in low light and I bet that they are overrating their dynamic range. Also is it just be or does the demo footage look pretty shitty
'...Red recommends enabling (extended highlights mode) in extreme situations where the 17 stops of dynamic range isn't enough...' HOOOWWWWW? Who's shooting things where 17 stops of DR isn't enough? 😂😂😅😂
If you're shooting anything involving pyrotechnics or flame, you DEFINITELY want more than 17 stops. You've seen what happens when CGI flames don't turn out right.
This is a very boring video! With a new Red camera they couldn’t film anything more interesting? You guys are in NYC go out and find something worthy of a new camera like this.
Do I need any of this... no.
Do I want all of it... yes.
I know the first camera I'm buying if I win the lotto!!! I love being alive to experience these innovations!
To get started you could get a used Red for a great price. The Epic is fantastic for example. Just saying :)

Nice affordable price of $30K and $45K.
I will buy a few.

Do you know the Adorama links for this camera?
🤡
Still single card slot though...
How stupid is that?
I’ll be honest, these specs in this body sound insane.
I sold my middle child and Pinarello road bike today, so I’m good to put my order in!
It’s not made for us! Do you say this about every sports car or anything you can’t afford???
how long does it take to turn it on? still 30sec to 1min? this has always been a small but frustrating issue for me.
Too bad there are other compromises like no internal ND and the non-interchangeable RF mount, otherwise it would tick all the boxes
Yeah, the canon c400 just checked all the boxes
Anyway we can get Extended Highlight capability on a firmware update with the RED Komodo X? That would be so clutch!
RED DIGITAL has not announced a firmware update for the RED KOMODO that would include the Extended Highlight capability. >Mark
Why not a word about what kind of lenses will cover these sensors?
How is the eye tracking auto focus? Also, what lenses are best suited for this new auto focus?
Awsome video what’s the name of that top handle you guys used for the raptor X
The table handle we're using is the RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR XL Top Handle: bhpho.to/3VnZv5R
Amazing camera.
How does this compare to the New Pentax Camera?
I watched your footage from the Sigma fp height.

my goodness i want this haha
Does it come with a DisplayPort connector?
No, it only has 2 12G-SDI video out.

informative red camera (8K 120fps)
And what’s the base iso and low light performance seems like they are hiding this
So you mean to tell mean their will be older cheaper red raptors for sale? Heck ya I can’t wait to not buy them sense I’m poor

More monthly payments than my 22 Model Y 😂😂😂
Sheesh!
How many stops does the human eyes see? I’m guessing we’ll be surpassing the human range soon and I’m here for it 😄
30
@@KallusGarnet Googled it cause 30 seemed high lol They say 18-20 stops for the human eye. That's not too far from Red cams! 😳

Says the guy that would never be able to afford one lmao 🤣
