My take: Holy Spirit was in John the Baptist from the womb. It became as an inborn identity for him. Instinctive, if you will. The pouring out of the Spirit was upon those in the upper room in order to advance the kingdom. Be careful not to compare these. It’s like apples to oranges! Holy Spirit is not contained in some box. He never ceases to be part of the triune God of the universe. And no, John was not raised by wolves 😅

The thief on the cross was NOT water baptized so how did he get in the Kingdom? If you had to be water baptized Jesus would not go back on his word and allow him in, he cannot lie. If you can't get water baptized that is NOT the UNPARDONABLE sin.

    • @markelder4789

Read Acts 2:38....according to the apostle Peter, do you receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit BEFORE or AFTER baptism? About 3,000 people responded to this message that day (verse 41). They didn't wait, they didnt "schedule" a baptism.....they were cut to the heart by Peter's sermon, repented and were baptized. That day about 3,000 people received forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Read Acts 9:18-19.....what did Paul do immediately after receiving his sight back? He was baptized and THEN he went and ate. The man hadn't eaten in 3 days and baptism was so important he was baptized before eating.
What about the Ethiopian Eunich? Phil brought this up. Read Acts 8:26-40....how important was baptism to the Eunich? He was baptized immediately....no waiting once he knew baptism was essential for his salvation. "Stop the chariot!" As Jase chuckled about 😊
There are other examples and other scriptures I could share from the New Testament, but you get the point 😊.
Also, don't complicate things....keep it simple. The plan of salvation is simple. God wouldn't complicate this and he hasn't.....man has.

If baptism is a “work”, isn’t saying a prayer also a work? Of course it is. But we are not saved by either action that we do. We’re absolutely saved by grace only. Period. Baptism is what we’re commanded by Jesus to do when we decide to surrender our will and our life to Him. It’s a beautiful act and symbol of obedience and surrender.

"Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:" "Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?" My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. "And when Jeremy came thither, he found an hollow cave, wherein he laid the tabernacle, and the ark of the covenant, and the altar of incense, and so stopped the door." For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. Mercy and truth are met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. "Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven." For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:" "And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD." "How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger!" "Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me," "If ye love me, keep my commandments." "Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen."

The whole bible if full of record scratches - it is a mystery that can only be understood by the Spirit of God in us and never by our natural mind, because it is spiritual .
Just like everything else - baptism is a work of God - Just as belief is a work of God and faith is a work of God . When anyone is obedient to the word of God - it is the work of God in them .
Salvation is a work of God - He baptizes you with His Spirit and cleans you by washing you with the blood of Jesus .

Are you guys saying salvation is by faith and by baptism? That faith without baptism means they wouldn't go to heaven? What happens if a person comes to faith and dies before he is baptised, what will happen to him? Guys I think we need to think over this more! Despite your best effort to justify your argument it sounds like works similar to Catholic teaching of doing sacrament for salvations.

I know that Phil pushes baptism but I would agree with your statement. Recently I have been scalenes while being a member of the a of the C.o C but I firmly believe that Baptism
Is essential to salvation. however and I think that you would agree that a willingness to follow Jesus and keep his commandments.
There are far to many examples surrounding baptism
      That leads me
To believe that Baptism is a step into the arena and after that we still
      Must try, learn and grow.

      Two different covenants people
In the Old Testament had no hope and Jesus was our propitiation. The New Covenant was obviously symbolic in the since that baptism represents the grave and we go down into the water as a witness before man and come up to walk a newness of life. I will say this all of the water dunking that one may express or do we still have to walk accordingly or Baptism does not do a lot of good. Baptism is one thing but a willful heart and desire is perhaps equal in statute if not wqual darn close

There was more than one gospel, Paul brought the gospel to us gentiles 1 Cor. 15:1-4 . We are told if we take up the law in one area we are obligated to all and Christ is no more effect to us .
