Thanks, Sina, so much for posting this... both your awesome tribute, as well as sharing the link to your outstanding performance with your rockin' Dad and his Beatles cover band. I absolutely love the Beatles, and I agree that Ringo was the best drummer that they could have had. His innovation is quite underrated and often overlooked. Sina, I am so grateful for the ongoing musical education that you provide to your audience (and the world). Now, if I may brag just a bit... The most famous drummer of all time (no, not you, Sina, haha, but I do wish...) is going to be playing with his "All-Starr" band in my very own hometown just outside of Boston. Less than one mile from my house, and a mere 25 minutes walking distance!! And I just scored a pair of tickets in the secret "presale"... I have never seen Ringo live, so I think this is a once in a lifetime chance. Tickets are very expensive (but so is everything)... I can only hope that he will perform "The End" (his only drum solo as a Beatle)... Sorry if this is a weird thing to post, but I wanted to share this with Sina's audience. I'm going to have to rewatch this post several times and study his catalog over the next few months to prepare for a proper concert experience. Cheers, and peace, love and music forever!!!
@@sdustin7986 Yes, this "keep time" thing reminds me of the drummer character in the fictional movie "That Thing You Do." The title song which was originally composed as a slow love song took on a lively identity when the drummer took the liberty of tweaking up the beat, making the song an instant hit and their group "The Wonders" very popular.
Three things: 1. He played to serve the song. That's generosity, and humility. 2. He played behind the beat, lagging a bit (unless the song was very up-tempo), making the entire band sound wonderfully heavy. That's why nobody can emulate him. 3. He was a drummer/composer. So many innovative riffs, beats, and intros Beatles songs are so great, you tend to overlook the stellar work Ringo did.
don't forget that during live concerts, he could not hear John, Paul or George. He would watch Paul's foot tapping to get the beat, which was always spot on.
When my son was little he didn't like the Beatles, every time I played one of their songs he would go somewhere else. When he entered to the university to study sound engineering, he realized the magnitude of what The Beatles did for music, he was able to see and understand their creations, arrangements, production, mixes, innovations never before seen in a band until that moment, etc. Thank you very much Sina, greeting from Chile 🤟🎸
I'm 65 years old and I've listened to the beatles since their first albums. And I always paid attention to Ringo's work. No one thought he was a good drummer, everyone wanted speed and long solos. But ringo played for the songs, he did things that nobody ever did before and always innovative, without him the Beatles wouldn't be as big as they are. Besides being a talented drummer you are sensitive. smart and knows that music is not juggling for the public. It is creativity, parsimony and elegance. You are elegant as Ringo Starr. Congratulations and respect to you
SuperMartins13 I agree. A lot of people lose sight of the fact that his drumming was an integral part of their overall sound. They would not sound like the same band with any other drummer.
In GET BACK, the documentary, we can see Paul asking Ringo about what to do on GET BACK rif. All that guys were a genial conjuration to make our lifes better.
Watching these kids play the Beatles just about brings me to tears. I grew up with the Beatles, and these children are proving that there will always be Beatles, covered and recovered. How fortunate I was to grow up at that time!!!
I read a comment on another YT channel which had a great classic early 70s song (don't remember which atm). The comment was: "Back then we thought all music would sound like this, and be as good in future. How wrong we were."
Loved your reply. I've been a Beatlemanic since Feb. 1964. They meant/mean the world to me. My cover photo with me in Beatles shirt is a testament to my fandom and devotion. Peace is how we make it. Jas
As Paul McCartney himself said, once they found Ringo, the Beatles were! There wouldn’t have been any Beatles without Richard Starkey. Thanks for this video-tribute, well done!
Could listen to Sina cover Ringo flawlessly all day long. I never, in all my years of listening to the Beatles, realized just how utterly unique a talent Ringo was as a drummer. How could I have never realized that? So very happy I came across this amazingly talented young lady who was able to show me what I’d somehow been missing all my life.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I clicked on this video. So glad I did. Sina, you give me hope for the human race! Damn, you're a good drummer!
I had an interview with Sir Paul many years ago where he talked about Ringo as being capable of repeating drum parts for hours and hours in the studio and acknowledged that he was often the hardest worker in the band. And John, Paul and George never instructed Ringo as to what they wanted, Ringo just did it-usually on the first take. He was solid as a rock as a drummer. One other factor that your group, emulating the Beatles is doing is emulating the very close harmony of the girl bands of the late 1950s and early 1960s. This is something that John, Paul and George emulated. Male vocalists were not doing what the women were doing at that time and the Beatles liked the sound, so they did the more feminine close-harmony vocals in their music. Later on, bands like the Bee Gees and The Beach Boys would do the same. Thank you for your tribute. I do hope Ringo sees it.
The Beach Boys vocal sound comes from Brian Wilson being fascinated with the Four Freshmen. Their group vocal sound predates the Beatles and is tied to American jazz harmony.
This isn't a cover video. It's not a tutorial. It fits neatly into no category at all. I was held enthralled for every second. I don't trot out the word 'genius' very often, but today, I can't resist. Entertaining, educational, and moving, all three - a brilliant presentation entirely worthy of its subject.
It was excellent, wasn't it? She's a top drummer and has the potential to be a top documentary maker and presenter. In fact, I reckon she's one of those rare people who'd be damned good at anything she put her mind to..
You hit the cow bell on the head. I clicked to save this and then didn't know which folder to save it to; so I created a Sina folder as this is so unique. My granddaughter will arrive this afternoon and she will love it.
Right on, Urgelt and jjajmb above! Fathers and grandfathers of daughters and sons alike around the world give slow satisfied smiles. Don't forget to show your girls the tribute group that grew into its own thing - the Bangles. Some great moments in their music and they play and sing it all too. Having mostly survived the heady excess of 1980s LA, the expectations of young women in pop and the unrelenting star machine of 'the Industry', they continue to play and fly the flag for intuitive teamwork and blend in their musical arrangements. Love all your work, sina. Keep 'em comin'.
me too, and Ringo even is very inteligent, he allways knew, what he did, he not was just a drummer, to me he is brilliant and it's good to take him as an example, especially such a still learning youngster.
I can’t get enough of them. I’m learning drums, bass, ukulele and piano atm and you can only learn from the best. The Beatles are without doubt my favourite band :) I’m 14 and just the other day me and some of my friends were arguing about the meaning behind ‘hey bulldog’ only to google it when we got home and find that Lennon said it was just a good sounding song that meant nothing lol. Everyone knows them. Not everyone is a fan obviously, but people generally respect them regardless of if they are a fan or not. Me and a fairly large group of my friends are pretty obsessed with them atm. We’re all 14-17 in age. But they’ll just go down in history. Like Beethoven and Tchaikovsky they’ll be remembered forever. I’m personally pretty into any music but I’ve recently taken an interest into 50s to 70s music especially, I often talk about musicians from around then that most people nowadays don’t really know of. But with out fail everyone seems to know and have listened to at least a bit of The Beatles which is honestly pretty damn impressive. Especially for the fact I’m Dutch lol.
@@goodlord370 Great for you girl. you have a great taste with music. old music is better that today's music darling. i'm 19 but i'd much love listening for the past music than the music today. ;)
There is a film that's going around at the cinemas two days ago. - Yesterday, about a boy who remembers all the Beatles hits. No one around him Seems to know them
You know Ringo is a legend when he gets a tribute while he is still alive. As a fellow teen, thanks for respecting Ringo's wonderful playing! Peace and Love!
Wou ... this video makes me happy. Young Girls plays The Beatles with a big feeling .... super ....I am 71 years and know Beatles from the beginning. This here is a good work.
Dang! Beat me to it. I was 11-12 when the British invasion hit in '63-64 and experienced ALL of it from a pre-teen to early teenage prospective. It was truly a magical time. I remember going to our "picture show" in the small one screen theater in Dequincy, LA, USA in 1964 to see our heroes in their first big full length motion picture "A Hard Day's Night". I was a male Beatle fan, but not a maniac; just a big fan. Remember those days fondly in the 6th and 7th grade.
Sina , as a boy born in Germany in 62 , I came to the USA in 66 back to Germany in 72 and back to the states in 74. I started playing at age 7 in 69 . By age 12 , I was playing clubs , by age 20 opening shows for Narvel Felts. I've played with many of the worlds greatest musicians and in 1999 became a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. In 2011 I was inducted as an Artist due to the fact that I also sing , write , play guitar and bass . However I'm still playing drums and singing because this was my 1st love. I'm not a fancy drummer , I play what the song needs . I'm 60 Today and I find it very nice to see young people actually interested in learning and teaching music . May I say from one deutchlander to another , I'm proud of You , keep making music and stay grounded. Stay humble and be yourself . All the best to you and your family, sincerely Bernd ( Ben*Ben ) Adler.
And to think, there was a time when Paul criticized Ringo so often that he temporarily quit the band. It was when Paul played drums for "Back in the USSR." I'm glad George and John convinced Ringo to come back. Paul could be a jerk sometimes.
@@FRN2013 From what I've read, Ringo left during the White Album session because the tension in the band during that period was too high for him. There was no evidence that he left because of Paul and came back because the other two convinced him to. Paul (for the main part), John, and George all took turn to play drum in Back in the USSR while Ringo was away. This is well documented.
Wiki: The Beatles recorded "Back in the U.S.S.R." as a three-piece after Ringo Starr temporarily left the group out of protest at McCartney's criticism of his drumming and the tensions that typified the sessions for the White Album. ... The sessions for The Beatles (also known as the "White Album") were fraught with disharmony among the band members.[25] While rehearsing "Back in the U.S.S.R.", on 22 August 1968, Ringo Starr became tired of McCartney's criticism of his drumming on the song, and of the bad atmosphere generally,[26][27][28] and walked out, intent on quitting the group.[29] The other Beatles continued with the session, which took place at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London. Ken Scott, the band's recording engineer, later recalled that they created a "composite drum track of bits and pieces" in Starr's absence.[29][nb 4]
@@FRN2013 Do not trust Wiki. It's useful but not always reliable. You can check about this matter from other more reliable sources like Marc Lewisohn books or The Beatles Bible website. There were no evidence at all about Ringo leaving because of Paul's criticism.
Thank you Sina! That was awesome! As a 73 year old rocker from Los Angeles, and a friend of Jeff Porcaro, and speaking for him (may he RIP), you are a great, solid drummer. Music is in great shape with players like you and your friends. By the way, I'm a huge Beatles fan, and probably saw your dad with the Silver Beatles. I am now a huge Sina fan. Keep on rockin!!❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations, Sina. Fabulous your exposition here. respect for you I grew up with Beatles music. We are 12 years old. 1965. Ringo is unique in sensitive, special moments created on the drums. The rhythms specially offered. I was always waiting to hear a new creation of his on the drums. You are a unique artistic phenomenon. Congratulations and respect for you.
So happy to see this. I'm so tired of this running joke that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles let alone the music world. The man was a genius percussionist and played for the song rather than his ego. And a hell of a guy on top of that. Long live Ringo.
I recall repeating this joke to a Beatles loving friend, and now regret saying it. Especially in light of young Sina’s amazing demonstration of Ringo’s unique drumming talent. I stand very corrected! Although I was just being provocative, I will apologise to this friend the next time I see him. 🙏🏼
Sina, my sincerest appreciation and compliments to you! You are clearly a very talented musician, and have a lovely attitude about music. I wish more musicians were like you! I've also enjoyed your excellent performance on your In A Gadda Da Vida cover video. It has been my pleasure to follow your videos!
The Beatles didn’t really become the band we love UNTIL Ringo joined in 1962. He and then George Martin were the two final critical elements. Thank you for sharing your talent and for offering absolute proof that Ringo was and is one of the best rock drummers ever. I’ve seen other videos on this subject but you have easily produced one of the best yet! John Lennon always asked other drummers he worked with after The Beatles to “play it like Ringo” but they never could quite match him. This video helps show why that was so.
He was not all frills . Just a solid Drummer . I love Ringo..since He joined beatles to this day Big smile on his face..He just loves living .. Plus That Young lady is just brilliant
welshster71 we don't know if it was ringo playing various songs.i never seen ringo get down on any video.also, there are claims that ringo in fact did not play on the studio recordings.
This is a wonderful exploration into some of Ringo’s drum techniques. It’s quite rich and you go deep into the subject. It’s a versatile presentation indeed and you play so marvellously, Sina. Also, it was nice to see the band clips included. Many thanks for this generous and helpful service!
I'm 70...grew up with the Beatles music in India. Even copied their hairstyle in 1966, tried them on my guitar, but couldn't get any better...So its so nice to see you all young ones doing so good...I watched your video this evening, felt so happy and now I sincerely wish you a very journey in music. GOD bless you, your talent and enthusiasm!!!
I’m from india and You’re the first indian I met that was from the vinyl generation. I’m very happy when I meet Beatles fans from india, regardless of their age.
Sina this is the first time that I have commented on one of your videos. My dad was a jazz drummer for over 40 years of his life, had three separate trios while I was growing up, and hated Rock and Roll. He wanted to watch The Beatles when they were on the Ed Sullivan show to see what the excitement was all about this group coming from England. After watching them he said to us "that drummer is bread and butter of that group". I really didn't understand him at the time, as a young kid, but years later he told me what he meant. Today's video reminded me of that moment back in "63" and brought great memories of my time with him. Thanks for the video and the memories.
i can't tell you how much it touches my heart to see the clips of all you young talented artists playing such beautiful songs. thank you for helping to keep this incredible music alive.
I second that emotion, johnny333! These kids interpret without parroting, and they bring new life and soul to already brilliant music. How do they do that?!!! All they need is love, I guess. And judging from their singing, playing and interpretations, they have plenty of it!
Your songs indicate that Ringo was about musicality of the drums rather than just backbeat or supportive percussion. Excellent tribute. Keep on drumming!
2 things... 1. Thank you, Sina. I've been a die-hard Beatles fan since I was 7-8 yo back in 1965, and from the moment I could first adequately articulate the thought, I've maintained that Ringo was (and still is) a Great drummer, for precisely the reasons you stated. Again, my deepest thanks! 2. You're an amazing drummer yourself, and I hope that I'll get to hear more from you in the future!
I’m 67 years old, now I am encouraged to learn how to play drum upon viewing this video😊… kudo’s to this young girl Sina… who inspires other young people and old people
The Beatles are hands down the most popular band of all time. As far as Ringo goes, he's a big part of what made the number 1 hit songs unique and great! Sina does a wonderful job explaining, & demonstrating his creative contributions that helped make The Beatles so popular. For me, he's just as important as John, Paul & George.
@@SleazyNice He also said McCartney was the worst bass player he'd ever heard. Mr Jones was most likely doing some kind of dope when he talked all that nonsense, haha 😂.
Well, that's impressing. He actually ignores the Hi-Hat almost completely and concentrates on only three extremities. I tried it and it works perfectly. Now I even understand why I never could play a Beatles song on drums, because I did not understand the concept. Many of the comments below are speaking right out of my soul ... thank you for this great video! 🥰
Thank you for a well deserved tribute to Ringo with your own considerable talent in demonstrating it. This is the best tribute to Ringo that I’ve seen anywhere and I know that many of us are grateful for the effort that you put into it. Many thanks and respect for your fine work.
YES! It's clearly helped having access to those Beatles tribute band recordings but the one vital master stroke here is the decision to showcase the part alone and then allow it to blend into the backing and then out again. THAT is genius teaching. Just shows how much this family understand that pop n rock tracks ARE about ensemble and that it's the blend and cross-support of the part each instrument plays that makes great arrangements and tracks that last for decades.
Considerable is a word meaning think on or about it. Best, well deserved and talent in your comment is great. I would love to hear what made or helped Sina be that good. Her dad's tribute band, that would be a treat. OMG, ya, if she could post some of that, what a treat so much closer her talents would be to and for us he must be awesome, she is, thank you Sina, Jaydn and company.
And young lady you are brilliant beyond your years it is very wise of you to have seen this and put it on UA-cam thank you very much good luck to you my dear.
Ringo was the BEAT in Beatles, the magic wouldn't have been there without Rich. This video is so good it made me cry. So there I hope you're happy too. Peace and Love to you.
You cannot play drums with the greatest band ever without being brilliant yourself. Ringo was and is still... brilliant.... I listened recently to Abbey Road... Just listen to Ringo's playing.. It is fantastic. The Beatles wrote such a wide variety of music styles and Ringo excelled on every track. .. Well done young Lady
@@johnnyrocker7495 Shut the hell up. You're obviously another bitter Stones fan. And actually Ringo does perform regularly for two hours with his All Starr Band.
@@johnnyrocker7495 Anyone who says The Beatles are overrated obviously knows nothing about music. The Beatles have had the biggest impact on music in history.
@@Revolver1981 No they haven't. You're a blinkered fanboi. Most overrated band of all time. Recorded more shit than anyone else, Yellow Submarine, When I'm 64, Octopus's Garden etc etc etc. All shit. Not even a proper Rock band.
It's not just the drumming but her grasp of this music, and mature tastes! Every song was so well done and no Beatles fan could find fault with any of them! All Beatles fans cannot deny that Ringo was an integral irreplaceable part of the group. This lady has produced perhaps the best tribute to Ringo and the Beatles, picking up the most admirable and dynamic parts. Thanks for the video!
As a drummer myself of some 50+ years..Ringo is unique. A brilliant less is more and always the perfect fill for the song. Incredible feel, timing and use of toms. He may not be Buddy Rich, Tony Williams or John Bonham etc. but he is Ringo and that's all need be said. He's been my teacher and I love everything he does. He's the living proof that feel and unique use of the kit outweighs speed and even rudiments...he's a natural and no-one else could have given The Beatles the feel that he did.
150% agreed; in my opinion one of the best lessons for any musician is to serve the song and Ringo in my eyes is the epitome of that when it comes to drummers.
Believe it or not Led Z had to do a lot of takes with Bonham b/c his timing was off a LOT!! Bonham may have bee able to hit the drums very hard but where is the style?
Your point is well taken. Ringo wasn't just playing drums, he was composing a distinct and unique drum part for each original Beatles song that was arguably as important an element to the song's success as the vocals and guitar parts. The striking thing about the Beatles is how well they played together, despite personal tensions that arose. The primary binding element was Ringo's drum part. He listened to the nuances of the vocal and guitar parts and always managed to provide a complimentary percussion part that enhanced each song with a striking sense of musicality. He was as essential an ingredient to the chemistry of the group as was John Lennon.
I've been playing drums for over 50 years, and have followed Ringo's drumming since I was very young. He's the main reason I began playing drums so when I saw your video I had to check it out. I loved it, done very well Sina! I'm also glad that Ringo's influence lives on.
I hope that RINGO feels thoroughly honored after watching SINA's tremendous tribute here to The Best Drummer Ever!🥁👏 SINA, Thank You for reminding music lovers about RINGO's musicianship!❤🥁You do Ringo and ALL OTHER DRUMMERS proud!🥁👏
Well done young Sina, a master class of Ringo’s talent. I’m 54 now & the fact that you are so young yet right into the best music of the last 50 years is a credit to you & im sure an inspiration to other young musicians.
Best compliment I ever heard of a musician was: he never had a wasted note. I heard this about George Harrison but it also applies to Paul and Ringo. This is why they were so brilliant.
@James Weimar I absolutly agree. All members of the Beatles were like a sculptor, who just take the essence of what a great song need and omit all the rest. I think this is the genius of all true artists and creators.
Sina, this was awesome...BRAVOOOO!!!! I got tears running down my eyes. It is SO wonderful to see the younger generation of today loving The Beatles as we did in the past. You see I was one of those Beatlemaniacs who went to two of their concerts. I was a kid when The Beatles came to Chicago. They played at the Chicago Amphitheater and at Comiskey Park. I WAS THERE!!!!!! Wouldn`t have missed it for the world!!!!! Four lads that shook the world and I have never been the same. I liked music, but The Beatles made me LOVE music. They will never, ever be surpassed by anyone. It was written and meant to be, for Ringo to be in their band. You don`t have to be a flashy or a noisy drummer to be successful. If The Beatles chosed him, then he must be awesome, no matter what anyone says. Ringo Starr you are the BEST in my book!!! Always a true gentleman, funny and well- mannered person. Sina, I really hope Ringo and Paul McCartney saw your video. It would be an honor. You guys deserve it. My God Sina, you have a great group of talented musicians and a great future ahead of you. Your video was BEAUTIFULLY made. Again BRAVOOOO!!!!👏👏👏👏👏 Peace and Love✌💗
Sina, you have made one of the best drumming videos EVER. This is an absolute "must watch" for every drummer that wants to be truly brilliant. Thanks!!
Ringo wasn't just a DRUMMER ...... He was a MUSICIAN - an ARTIST ...... in Classical Music the percussion parts are written down, just like the parts for the violins and flutes .... It was Ringo's disciplined understatement which seamlessly became as irreplaceable to the Beatles' songs, as the tympani and cymbal crashes of the great symphonic overtures of an earlier time..... God Bless our Ringo!!!! and as always - a FABULOUS JOB by Sina
I have just been watching Worlds greatest drummers salute Ringo. They all play "Come Together" different to you, they go clockwise, you go anti clockwise. I have just watched Ringo playing it and he goes anti clockwise. Your strive for perfection shines through.
Actually, Ringo doesn't really go anti-clockwise in Come Together. That clip of him playing is not the same - he doesn't remember correctly. Just listen to the drum iso...
He starts on the the high tom, but leads with the left hand. Keeps his left hand hitting the hi tom, then works in the second tom (twice), then puts the last bang on the floor tom. There are some other surprising fills in here. Note he sometimes just hits the same two toms repeatedly. Just lead with the left hand and it becomes clear! Here are all the fills from Come Together, repeated and spliced together. www.dropbox.com/s/hxdb6ixm0ls10gs/Come%20Together%20repeated%20fills.mp3?dl=0
Clear as mud. Good heavens far too techie for me. However you seem to know what you are talking about. In one of his videos he explains the difficulty he has in going clockwise round the kit playing Come Together. He said it is due to him being a left handed drummer who plays on a kit that is set up right handed. To the naked eye it appears Ringo is going anticlockwise, as does Sina, coping him to the letter. Showing, not only her talent but desire for perfection. @@dcaccavo1
12:45 is so sweet! You know it is amazing. I am 68 years old now. With the opening chord of "A Hard Days Night" my life began and The Beatles influenced my life ever since. I learned to play guitar, I studied at the music conservatory and became a professional musician. Now I am retired, I watch this video and see that 55 years later The Beatles still are influencing young people like you. They were 4 stars perfectly melted together to one super band, and they changed the world. I was a witness, I saw how they changed everything. For those of you who are young people now - you can hardly imagine how strongly they changed the world. It was less than 20 years after the end of World War 2 and the world - especially Europe - was still in kind of a shock koma. The Beatles finished it and began a new aera.
That very chord is impossiblr to emulate. There is work from the other musicians involvedbut mostly inaudible. I feel the most similar thing l came up with is G7 presing the second string, 1st fret: C.
I'm 60 and grew up in a musician family, raised mostly with classical music and jazz playing all the time. Until my dad discovered the Beatles.... Then I'd hear Bach, Beethoven, Charlie Parker, Beatles, Bartok, Miles Davis, Beatles, etc., etc.
Say hay Jay. You were four when the beatles made their first recording, "LOVE ME DO" . I was six, oh don't we wish we could go back? Thank you Sina and company.
these collabs are nothing short of amazingggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as if the beatles arent emotionally intense enough... seeing these bright youth cover this is nothing is just over the top!
AWESOME !!! RINGO IS UNDERATED but never was by his peers and his beautiful Beatle Brothers John , Paul & George. The greatest tribute I can say here is that Ringo once fondly remembered a story where John was in the studio with him listening to a song and said Ringo I want you to do it that way...Ringo replied... but John its two drummers..to which John replied...well dont let that bother you...such was his confidence in his Beatle Brothers drumming. In August of 1980 when John was recording Double Fantasy that admiration of Ringos drumming remained when he told The session drummer for Double Fantasy Andy Newmark..."John would often say to me Keep it simple Andy and play like Ringo. Ringo is a total groove player and that is what John likes....I prayed daily that Ringos spirit would inhabit me.... THANKS for keeping exceptional Ringos drumming alive and appreciated for generations to come JOHN PAUL GEORGE RINGO 4 EVA
Until you break down the layers of the Beatles' music, you don't always appreciate the level of raw talent those four guys had! Amazing job! I am always in awe of people who can produce such musical art! Beatles forever!
Thank you so much for this great tribute to Ringo. He was so underrated. His imagination and steadiness were absolutely perfect for the Beatles. You do a great job explaining his unique and amazing talent.
@@tjcint He was wrong. I had a Beatles show where I synchronised Beatles sequences to live videos. Trust me, The Beatles tempos are as erratic as any other bands before the use of click tracks. Funnily enough Ringo's only solo, for ninety percent of its duration, is absolutely perfect. Maybe it was the other players in the band who were suspect. I was so pleased when I had Dave Weckl play a clinic for me in 1990 and I paraphrase him here, "It is not the drummer's job to keep time. It is every player's job to keep time." Now I had been howled down by all the ignorant bums who parroted this obvious bullshine about drummer being responsible for timing. They believed Dave Weckl though.
Yeah well, the Beatles had great many things didn't they? One of them was certainly depth. IF I tried to list all the others, I'd die slumped over my keyboard! Through 'them', the 'many' were deeply blessed. This lovely talented young woman has not only the chops, - she has fully imbibed the 'feeling' of the work. She does Ringo and the spirit of Beatles' music proud.
I first heard Sina, collaborating with other young artists, performing the Abby Road B-side medley. I was blown away (and infinitely happy) to see & hear young artists paying tribute to THE greatest band of all time. Sina and her collaborators renewed my faith in the younger generation not losing sight of what is and makes for timeless art! This video further demonstrates the appreciation as well as the technical understanding Sina, herself, has for the art & craft of music, especially the drums. I, literally, grew up listening to the Beatles (family story that my mother turned up the TV loud so that her unborn youngest child - me - would hear them on Ed Sullivan in Feb '64, just weeks before being born). I've always appreciated the art and creativity of each member of the Fab Four, but Sina has given me a greater appreciation of Ringo as a drummer and artist. Sina proves herself quite the talented, knowledgeable, and humble artist in her own rite. This in itself seems a living tribute to Mr. Starkey. May you go far, Sina. You have an appreciative fan for life. Keep on Rockin'!
I watched a full segment with this wonderful girl. I've been telling any Beatles fan or drummers to watch/study/admire this young heaven-sent person. Thank you Sina.
Girl, I'm amazed at your appreciation of the the uniqueness of Ringo's drumming!!! Your daddy brought you up right! Those are the best imitations of Beatle songs I've ever heard!
"Best Drummer" is kind of like "Best Athlete" vs. "Best Football player"...It doesn't matter how fast you run or how far you can throw the ball if you don't play within the framework of the team concept. That's where Ringo was a certified genius in his own and worthy of his role in the greatest pop music band of all time. He fit like a glove with the other three.
So I’ll have to admit to thinking that Mr Starkey was certainly not much more technically proficient than any number of high school jazz band percussionists, but 50+ years later I’m ashamed to admit that this “little gal” - no offence intended, Sina - has given me pause to reconsider that he was “the perfect” man for the job.
Excellent post Sina. You show real maturity in your understanding of what makes Ringo so good and how he contributed to the Beatles signature sound. You are also a truly excellent drummer.
Daniel ! I was a drummer for many years too. Even though I never played like Ringo because different bands wanted me to play the way I wanted for their songs, I always admired Ringo's style. Do you have anything recorded? You can listen to songs we did on youtube by punching in '' BURNING DESIRE/BERAK FREE ''. I don't do much on drums on that album except maybe fast double base in one song. But I am mad till today that the quality of our recording was shitty and my drums don't stand out as they should. The next album we were going to record I had more intricate beats but the group broke up. I suffer from the hearing loss because of drums but I cherish those times on stages. eric
I would like to thank you so much!! you have illuminate the genioussy of Ringo for me. i am 64 years old and I listen obviously to Beatles as much as ELP genesis etc.. and Bach.. I like to discover new things about music and you did. Like a great History professional you look and illuminate the known facts in a different way that allow us to really appreciate the music even more (where here the drum part are the case). Thank you!!!!
Awesome drumming, bet your dad is so proud, and the best tribute to Ringo I've ever seen or heard. I could listen to and watch you all day, great video
This is a spectacular breakdown. Sina - you are immensely talented and I'm sure Mr. Starr would agree. Thank you for promoting the best drummer in rock history
I think one thing you must realize with Ringo Starr's skills is that his drum kit had basically the most rudimentary components, totally unlike what you see with modern drum kits with dozens of cymbals, tom-toms galore, etc. It's what he did with what he had was where the magic was.
this is perfectly described. so innovative. i don't care if people think he was poor. i just know what i like. no other drummer in history could play "a day in the life" as perfectly suited to the song as ringo did. i love the isolated track of that. his finest moment for me. a leftie playing a right handed kit is so underestimated too, it's what makes ringo's sound so difficult to replicate.
I think the number of drums and cymbals is irrelevant. A ton of hugely respected and renown drummers chose smaller kits. Plus he had the size of ket because he chose it. His contemporaries like Moon, Baker and Mitchell and others opted for larger kits with 7 or more drums, double bass and a host of cymbals. If Ringo wanted a different sound he would opt for some other percussion instrument, maracas, tambourine, congas or hand claps.
Thanks for watching!! If you want more, you can find me playing some Beatles songs live with The Silver Beatles right here:

As someone once said, "Most drummers play the drums. Ringo plays the song." Thank you, Sina! Thank you, Ringo!
Brilliant.
Xactly, Michael. The drummers role : keep time, and play to the song. 👏
@@sdustin7986 Yes, this "keep time" thing reminds me of the drummer character in the fictional movie "That Thing You Do."
The title song which was originally composed as a slow love song took on a lively identity when the drummer took the liberty of tweaking up the beat, making the song an instant hit and their group "The Wonders" very popular.
@@dude-fw7xt As Eric Clapton said about George Harrison, George really new how to follow the songs with his leads, the Beatles were One.
Amen! You can tell what the Song is just by his drums.
Three things:
1. He played to serve the song. That's generosity, and humility.
2. He played behind the beat, lagging a bit (unless the song was very up-tempo), making the entire band sound wonderfully heavy. That's why nobody can emulate him.
3. He was a drummer/composer. So many innovative riffs, beats, and intros
Beatles songs are so great, you tend to overlook the stellar work Ringo did.
This...
Good words!! Sorry my English///
don't forget that during live concerts, he could not hear John, Paul or George. He would watch Paul's foot tapping to get the beat, which was always spot on.
What does the 2 mean?
That’s a brilliant analysis
I've been a Beatles fan for 57 years. It does my heart good to see someone your age who gets it. Ringo was awesome and so are you Sina.

All your parents should be extremely proud of you girls. To see yet another younger generation be passionate about the Beatles is fantastic!

And to think, there was a time when Paul criticized Ringo so often that he temporarily quit the band.
It was when Paul played drums for "Back in the USSR."
I'm glad George and John convinced Ringo to come back.
Paul could be a jerk sometimes.
itsnotaboutme I’ve heard he can be such a perfectionist that it can make him be quite difficult to work with.
Wiki:
The Beatles recorded "Back in the U.S.S.R." as a three-piece after Ringo Starr temporarily left the group out of protest at McCartney's criticism of his drumming and the tensions that typified the sessions for the White Album.

So happy to see this. I'm so tired of this running joke that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles let alone the music world. The man was a genius percussionist and played for the song rather than his ego. And a hell of a guy on top of that. Long live Ringo.

The great secret of good musicians - and good drummers especially - IS silence.

The key to Ringo was humility. Having met him and spending time with him in the green room before a concert I can tell you, a class act humble guy!
A very important observation. His humility was the foundation for everything he did.
- Dad, who or what were The Beatles?
- The Beatles were everything that makes music today... and so much more!!!
Was waiting for that - LESS IS MORE - comment.. as the old line goes: Hey ya don't get paid by the note...
150% agreed; in my opinion one of the best lessons for any musician is to serve the song and Ringo in my eyes is the epitome of that when it comes to drummers.
Martin, totally, totally and absolutely correct. Well said that man!
Very well said! I love Ringo’s drumming!
I hope that RINGO feels thoroughly honored after watching SINA's tremendous tribute here to The Best Drummer Ever!🥁👏
SINA, Thank You for reminding music lovers about RINGO's musicianship!❤🥁You do Ringo and ALL OTHER DRUMMERS proud!🥁👏
Really??? Nah Stewart Copeland is the master of percussion 🤘🤘🤘
Ringo? Feel honored by this? Naah....Sina should feel honored for doing it. I sense she does.
Well done young Sina, a master class of Ringo’s talent. I’m 54 now & the fact that you are so young yet right into the best music of the last 50 years is a credit to you & im sure an inspiration to other young musicians.
It’s not about skill or power, it is about art.
Truth - nailed.
enda ingat Drumming
his approach was orchestral
If skill doesn't matter, and art means what we feel, then I am the greatest drummer ever.
So you are saying they were doing great despite his playing ?
So good. Ringo was the unsung hero of the Beatles. Thank you for bringing this to the forefront.
Kathy P. I honestly wept. I love that genius and it’s great to see a young person really get it
yep so your old too
I am one of the older ones, but I never saw them live at all, I saw Elvis twice, I regret not being able to see The Beatles.
Thanks for sharing. I would give much to Travel back in Time for just one evening to See them live. I was born 1990 and Never had the Chance to.
God Bless our Ringo!!!! and as always - a FABULOUS JOB by Sina
yes, an artist... the luckyest man on the earth ever 🤣
I have just been watching Worlds greatest drummers salute Ringo.
They all play "Come Together" different to you, they go clockwise, you go anti clockwise.
I have just watched Ringo playing it and he goes anti clockwise. Your strive for perfection shines through.
Hi 5 watt world
Actually, Ringo doesn't really go anti-clockwise in Come Together. That clip of him playing is not the same - he doesn't remember correctly. Just listen to the drum iso...
Here it is slowed down, repeated. www.dropbox.com/s/prprdznpnd3x31s/Ringo%20slowed%20down.mp3?dl=0
12:45 You are absolutely right. I could not of said it better and any Beatle fan would agree with you.
Auto tuning is terrible, just like that cover
Thanks for keeping the Beatles music, and especially Ringo's incredible drumming contributions alive. I'm 65. Respect.
I'm 70, even more respect :-)
I'm 60 and grew up in a musician family, raised mostly with classical music and jazz playing all the time. Until my dad discovered the Beatles.... Then I'd hear Bach, Beethoven, Charlie Parker, Beatles, Bartok, Miles Davis, Beatles, etc., etc.
Say hay Jay. You were four when the beatles made their first recording, "LOVE ME DO" . I was six, oh don't we wish we could go back? Thank you Sina and company.
@@ClearTheRubble7 65 and still alive.
What's up with all the mentioning of age? How does it matter..?
these collabs are nothing short of amazingggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as if the beatles arent emotionally intense enough... seeing these bright youth cover this is nothing is just over the top!
Not only is this a great tribute to a great drummer and band, but a wonderful trip down memory lane. Thank you.
Ringo always plays exactly what the song needs.
This was emotional for me. This young lady is extremely good! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this great tribute to Ringo. He was so underrated. His imagination and steadiness were absolutely perfect for the Beatles. You do a great job explaining his unique and amazing talent.
MrGlenn225, George Martin said Ringo's timing was perfect.
John White He also said that the Beatles “never used a click track.“. Ringo would be the reason why…😉😊
He IS so underrated! Drummers in general are mostly underrated.
Ringo's drumming is disparaged by many musicians, but hardly ever a drummer. Sina is a case in point.
REAL musicians don't criticize Ringo. Ignorant You Tube viewers do though.
Only those who don't KNOW disparage Ringo. THE BEST is a silly way to sort talent. But he is my favorite drummer.
Been listening to Beatles for decades and learned something new today. Thank you! Nicely done!
Vince Marshall me too
Yeah well, the Beatles had great many things didn't they?
One of them was certainly depth.
IF I tried to list all the others, I'd die slumped over my keyboard!
Through 'them', the 'many' were deeply blessed. This lovely talented young woman has not only the chops, - she has fully imbibed the 'feeling' of the work.
She does Ringo and the spirit of Beatles' music proud.
Me as well. Very nicely done.
Vince Marshall same here ... she is incredible 🥁
Vince Marshall Me too since I don’t know much about drumming.
Ringo was the perfect example of "less is more". I didn't know he was a lefty. TY.
Love watching you play!
Sina - you were sent here to guide us.
As an old Beatle fan, this gave me a huge buzz. Thanks.
Every time I hear "Come Together" it's the drum part that makes me shake my head, amazed at how good it is! Great choice in presenting your argument.
Also in The End
Ringo is not the best drummer in the world but he was the perfect drummer for the best band in the world
"Best Drummer" is kind of like "Best Athlete" vs.
Best drummer are you jokin?
@@aarnavgandhi1680 No.
BRAVO!!!!!
I never really rated Ringo, but this video has opened my eyes (ears) to his talents. 👍
Amen to that.
Murray Marshall Indeed!
Excellent post Sina. You show real maturity in your understanding of what makes Ringo so good and how he contributed to the Beatles signature sound. You are also a truly excellent drummer.
Really one of the best explanations/demonstrations of Ringo’s style and skill. You did a fantastic job!
I think Sir Ringo Starr was the innovator of less is more in drums. Well done!
It was about the song...not about a 10 minute drum solo....
Thanks Sina
I’ve been playing drums for a long time , I’m a self taught drummer
You’re my new drum teacher now 🥁 Rock on 🥁
Thank you Sina! What a beautiful tribute.. 15 minutes of happiness! 👍
These young ladies make my eyes teary with their amazing talents...I truly just can’t hold it...I’m so touched...
Ditto!
This is a spectacular breakdown. Sina - you are immensely talented and I'm sure Mr. Starr would agree. Thank you for promoting the best drummer in rock history
The best tribute that I've ever seen to Ringo. Very emotional. Thanks for share.
I hope the living legends Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr see this video ….how amazing to see these talented youngsters appreciating Beatles music!
Great point, Norbie... I've expressed the same to many others.
