    Niceeee, let's go :)))) Quite surprising to see that it's you to be the first one to review this on yt tbh

      Luck but I also dreaded it in a way as I know it will come across as confusing. I have spent too much time with B1S and trying sets. Yuki is very similar in its ability to alter sound.

      Yes, Aune is good. I've got the original B1, their first DAP which I believe was called the M1, and a couple of their desktop DAC/Amps. They're all very nice kit for the price!

    Great video paul! They look so good. Love the white color and the glass window. Although i would be a not scared to use it daily. Maybe thats just me 😅

    I also think Yuki is altering the sound, it's not really neutral. Like it has it's own opinion for each headphone how they should sound better haha. It enhances somethings to the cost of other things. It's hard to explain.
    Some people will love Yuki and it will be irreplaceable for them. But I was expecting something more neutral.
    Can you suggest me a tad more neutral transparent sounding dongle around similar price range from your personal likes?

      Thank you, yes, Yuki is hard to explain and I stopped watching reviews of it as most people don't get it. I make no assumptions on what it will do, sometimes, it works for the best, sometimes I don't like it on a set. Here is my generalizations, ESS dacs are the analytical, flat, and extended style. Closer to neutral unless you are used to hearing a rolled off treble, then ESS will sound brighter. There is a lot of extension and resolving on ESS. Topping and ESS get the same bad comments, too flat, too analytical, not enough musicality. That is where CS tries to fill in the gap, not as analytical, usually adds some warmth, and typically not as extended as ESS so rolls off in a more natural way to some people. Sadly, you can't really use your imagination here, you need to do what everyone does, buy one of each. Or go the upgrade route and get a Bluetooth/powered portable like a Qudelix, Fiio, Shanling, etc model.

    When you are using the B1S as referenced in this video, what are you using as your DAC?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  7 місяців тому +1

      Lately SMSL SU-9 or 10 as I have both. Occasionally an old Topping DAC. I do prefer B1S with a DAC but I have used it with dongles. Its a really cool amp, occasionally I will measure from it as I want to see if it changes the FR. Sometimes it does just with impedance.

    I'm planning to buy their headphones and still deciding on which dac to buy.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      Yuki has a nice sound style, but its not big on power if their set is harder to drive. I think Yuki has done well since its release, not as easy to nail down a sound signature, but seems liked by most people. If you can buy 2 dongles and return one, that would help if you are picky. I know too many people who keep buying new dongles chasing something which they don't find.

      Am I better buying a desktop dac then? @@PaulWasabii

    Hearing such a variance does concern me a bit as I currently only own 2 sets (Olina and Castor Bass), I wouldn't want to buy a DAC AMP as expensive as this only for it to make them sound just okay.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  4 місяці тому +1

      Right, someone else mentioned the same effect last week. Yuki is probably better as a second dongle. One dongle like a CS43131 or Apple Dongle which are going to sound consistent and then Yuki when you want to hear a different take on your sets. Basically why I use the Aune B1S, sometimes it takes a set to the next level, sometimes its ok and I don't use it.

    Can you review aune ar5000? Or do you review IEM only?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  2 місяці тому +1

      I have reviewed headphones, but I don't have the AR5000. Probably the most requested pair though. Maybe there aren't enough reviews out there. I need to ask them about it.

    • @calvinyip364
      @calvinyip364 2 місяці тому

      @@PaulWasabii yea. So far I only saw 3. I been putting comments on youtuber channel asking to be reviewed. But mostly replied me. Maybe in future , or if they sent me one etc.
      Even written review is less about these headphone.
      I want to know how do they compare to hd600 and sundara. Cause I own he400se and hd600 I don't know is it worth it to buy the aune ar5000. So yeah.
      I do hope you can review them. And I just ordered them but need to wait till next month only will arrive. So yeah. Mostly I see is positive reviews. And some said it was mediocre. So I am kind of half hearted. If possible I hope reviewers could come out the video within this week. So if it's bad I could just cancel the order and maybe order the sundara or something. So yeah.
      Thanks for replying . Cause I do not know weather you review headphone or not. Or just only IEM.

    Looks great, but at 160-170 USD it's a hard sell especially without mic input and just one type c cable included.

    • @colddish
      @colddish 7 місяців тому +4

      Not really. Ceramic boards are expensive and the innards are hifi grade. From that perspective it’s a steal.

    • @nmatheis
      @nmatheis 7 місяців тому +5

      Which DAC/Amp dongles have mic input? I don't think any of mine do, and I wouldn't want the added electronics for a mic in the dongle. I want them to be focused solely on sound quality.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  7 місяців тому +4

      Yeah, Aune does crazy work but it does come at a price and I understand when people point to similar dual CS dacs at lower price points. Like everything else in the hobby, people will pay for it to support the engineering and the brand

    at the same price yuki or ka17 ?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  2 місяці тому

      Ask Tony/Akros although he is always talking about Yuki too. I just haven't heard KA17 so I have no idea. The dongle I tend to reach for consistency is Simgot's Dew4X. I think people are enchanted by tweaks Aune pulled off, less consistency, but I think Tony would say the same, when it pairs well with a set, its hard to beat. On the other hand, I like ESS so I would probably like the KA17 too. I would consider waiting a short bit, the new ESS 9039 dongles are just starting to appear. Maybe Fiio has an updated one.

    Why aune chose the waifu route for this boggles my mind, wish they didn't, seems a interesting device and a real contender to Questyle M15, will keep saving for aune S17 Pro.

      At least they made it a sleeve you can remove and didn't plaster waifus on every surface imaginable.
