Yeah, something additional was added in this cover. Something cool like te video editing, images carefully selected and of course wonderful variations in the vocals, lead by a nice voice

And…she is not really country, in my opinion. A flavor of her is..but she has so many flavors. She has basically created her own genre. I’d encourage you to forget that country labeling and listen without that filter. The ONLY TIME the country music establishment acknowledged her is when she was nominated for six Grammys in 2019, and should have won album and record of the year, in the big category. Once the country music white male leadership used what she allowed them to of her, she jumped to the next phase, Joni, and Elton..and Soundgarden covers..and just more beautiful and touching’Brandi music’. Unique and talented humans, all three of them. Brandi, Tim, and Phil. Dive deep, it’s all gold.

Seeing Brandi live several years ago in Concord, NH was a total bucket list item for me. She ended that December show by singing, with the theater lights out, O Holy Night, A cappella. It was utterly sublime. So this amazing cover of the great John Denver song, also deeply personal to me, since my mom was born in WV, is no surprise to me. Brandi can do anything.

Brandi is good on all songs, but I really love to hear her sing country. She SANG "HES GOT YOU" in tribute to Loretta Lynn on the special a few weeks ago. It was awesome.

Lived 11 years in Indonesia and Philippines in 80s and 90s and this was like an unofficial national anthem in both countries - played it a million times on street corners, in cafes and bars with tons of folks singing along who in many cases didn't even know what the words meant, but loved it anyway. Wonderful to hear it reimagined by such a special artist!

I feel like I really dropped the ball because my dad was an agent for 65 years & even booked a lot of country music (I know they’re Americana but still...). Love your cover of this song...my dad went to Dallas for a job and we were here in SD in the 70's...each time he called he had us sing this song to him...was very lonesome for him...this dark version brought back memories...since he passed I think of this song often...love it more today...you have amazing talent as a songwriter...singer with the twins and the highway women...plus producer and feats to lots of other talented artist...love you and Brandy Clark's Stand by Me lol

Thanks Brandi, I have never seen you live , but hope to gather some funds to see you at Red Rocks in a few months. I am a Denver native, living a few miles away from Red Rocks. My first show was a John Denver show in 1982, I was only 3 years old, but still remember sitting in the front row, and running around on stage with other kids shortly before John came out to perform. I was lucky to meet John at his book signing, and also spent an hour or to sharing memories with John's mom and uncle Dave at his memorial up in Aspen in 1997. I am a huge fan of all that great Seattle music as well, big Pearl Jam fan. I am also gay and have Body Integrity Dyshporia, actually missing two toes because of it, I am no Hannibal though, haha! I know John Denver was missing a couple toes as well from a lawnmower accident from reading his book, my mom still has a signed copy! Peace and love Brandi!

I've always loved this song and also Brandi's cover of it for years. Clarice has also been one of my favorite characters and I've always associated this song with her. Simply perfection. Simple and haunting.
