Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Hi Zach, you are such a fine example of the "work ethic" and the need to get jobs done even if unpleasant. I would tend to procrastinate and that doesn't work on the farm. Thanks for showing the "less than fun chores" as well the super neat chores such as seeding or combining. I have a question on the micro-managing. You mention "down to the acre level" but it seems to me that you are adjusting to even smaller pieces of land -- which is incredible when you think back even a few years ago. Thanks for making the investments that keep food production high at a reasonable cost to the consumer. A great video. Thanks!! - Dean from Edina
Thanks again Dean!! Always appreciate your thoughts! The acres are managed at a 1-2.5 acre level but usually the programs we use, use an algorithm to blend the acres together based on averages, so there aren't hard breaks or 'lines' between the acres for certain applications. Did I make that clear as mud? Maybe it wasn't even what you were asking?!
Millennial Farmer That answers what I was wondering too. Thanks Zach

I would consider using a vacuum truck to wash down and suck out your grain pits. No confined space entry, no messing around with a pump, no stinky water pumped out to the surface ( and the mud it creates) No having to run absorptive corn through to get that last little bit of water, no having to run your fans or clean out the bins. A Millennial`s dream come true!
Millenial farmer is the only channel that I subscribe to and wathes all the videos on when they come out. 😊
The secret mad skills of a crop farmer! I spent my teenage years on a farm and helped out my uncles whenever I could. I mostly mastered backing up anything with two wheels but anything with it's own steering continually frustrated me. One of my uncles would always come to my rescue and made it look so easy it made me mad. Now I watch you back up the deep bander with the trailer behind it! Respect.
To the voice of David Attenborough: A adult male Millennial Farmer approaches and starts work on his food storage system to get ready for corn eating season, their species will be very busy in the next coming months but they will be storing food for the winter. Soon they will enter hibernation as the cold winter approaches they will crawl into their caves and settle down for the winter and wake up back again for the warm spring weather.
🤣🤣🤣 I even read it in his voice!
😂😂
... This species does not hibernate like other hibernating mammals. If we take a look inside the hive, we will see them working along on what looks like maintenance tasks. We do not know if there is any significant energy savings to their method. It seems that they offset the lack of energy saving with a steady stream of hamburgers that keeps them going through the long cold winter.
I met a little boy name Luke. I was sitting in a Chick-fil-A waiting on my Great Grandaughter for her school celebration. He and his parents sat down. As soon as the boy saw me, he ask his mother if he could meet me. I had no clue why so I ask. As it turns out I had my MN Millennial Farmer shirt on. The mother explain to Me Her Husban works for a Family Farm in Middlesex Co Va in Waterview Va on the Rappahanock River. Every night or every new Video which ever comes first. Dad and Son watch you. The effect you have on the future of Young people, and Adults are so rewarding. I got to enjoy your hard working so Thank you. I did give all your deserving praise. My wife and I will be ordering a Shirt for Dad and Son. Thank you to you and your Family for sharing your life.
Thank

Hello from Sweden!!
I have been addicted for you videos the last week and I watched atleast 20 of you videos again.
I love farming and my dad is a farmer.
Keep up the great work
I always love the humor in the videos
Another awesome video. I worked at our local elevator one summer as a teen. We had a big storm blow through at the beginning of the 4th of July weekend. After three days in the 90s, they hand me a ladder and 5 gallon bucket and tell me to start bailing. I can still smell it!
When you said you were gonna back that chisel with the cart on the back I was like, “that’s cute.” That was impressive
Hey Zach, I am actually pretty interested in your meetings with any agronomists! Doesn‘t matter if it‘s fertilizer, varieties or cover crops, I would like to hear more about that stuff.
My farm boy came out and i got really excited when he started talking about the variable rate maps and what not.
Hi Zach thank you for all you do for your Country
Everything i whatch off your channel I use to help my dad on my farm
Hello Zach Thanks for sharing you cleaning job of the pits as it shows that your work may be unpleasant but you get it all down JOB WELL DONE!
Hi from norway, keep up the good work, farmers are the backbone of nations 😍👍
With our silos we use black plastic waterline to unplug the pipes. Works like a charm and is strong enough for really plugged material.
It's hilarious when you ask the dead animals if their ok!
Impressed with your backup skills!
I really appreciate the video Zach. Made me feel good about the small building we put up over our pit. Our situation is different; with a small farm our pit conveyor has to last the rest of my life. Everybody says mats help but you still get some water in the pit. Keep up the good work. Good luck with your cover crop. I seed 38 to 40 pounds of rye after corn before soybeans. Tall rye is no problem to plant into, thick rye is a different story.
Nice to have someone
bringing awareness to the agriculture industry and what farmers really deal within a daily basis
I love the constant work.
My grandfather leased 40,000 acres in Haskell County Tx, He farmed 30,000 acres in Cotton and Maase. He had 52 head of Angus cattle on 5,000 acres with a creek running through it . He would rest 5,000 acres each year, and rotate which land rested each year. He would grow hay in a field across from the barn as needed. He would fill the barn with hay and pull bails each morning to throw over the fence so the cows could choose to eat hay each day, or the natural grass that grew there. I learned to drive on that farm, and learned how to use a shotgun. He had a Winchester 12 gauge auto that was rigged to hold 8 shells. In summer, I would spend a couple of weeks there, and he would choose that time to rotate the hay in the barn, and have to shoot the rattle snakes that we would come across between hay bales.
All the segment are outstanding
There always working hard. Thanks mappers paradise. Great video Zac
So glad your going to try cover crops! I'm excited to see your results!
I agree 100% farmers are and should be in the best interest of everyone in the country
Great words to live by. You always need to pump it.
I'm enjoying a much-needed rainfall in East Tennessee, which we haven't seen in 3 weeks or more. On my covered porch. With an adult beverage. Life is good.
Becky, good job editing and the kids are just SOOOoooooooo cute !!!!! Hello from East TN
Great job dude I watched you since 2015
Great video Zach! Can’t wait until harvest begins for y’all!
I grew up on a dairy farm in Maryland, they changed to grain after Grandpa passed, so I know how rough it can be. I think most people just don't understand what y'all yo through and what happens to us as a country if farms are hurt by the economy. Love this and Welker farm channel, hope to see many many more videos.
Im not a farmer, im an electrician but watching theses videos really inspires me to buy a farm always a fun watch keep up the great videos.
Watching this reminds me that I'm really happy the farmer I occasionally work for uses augers instead of pits. I'm positive the job would be given to me if it had to be done.
gotta love rotten corn, one of the reasons i used to be a farm hand instead of actually being a farmhand now :)
A couple of days ago, I went into the basement of a rental property and powerwashed two years of sewage backup back down the hole it came up. It was about 4 inches thick. It smelled very nice also.
Good video Zach sounds like it a little high tech on adding fertilizer .looks like u had a good productive day. Be safe
I love being subscribed to this channel !.... super good and interesting information .... yer humor's good too !.... always love the kids angle since I have 9 of my own... love and respect me some farmers, that's for sure..... consruction worker now in Idaho....
Im getting PUMPED for harvest videos!!! Love driving along in that combine!!!!🌽🌽
Thanks Zack keep the videos coming thanks for the update
I respect you. Without your level of organization, you would be lost. You are number one in my estimation. My Dad used to say, "It takes a special kind of man to keep his wife happy, look after his children and run a farm."
I appreciate that very much, thank you!
Great Video, Always enjoy watching you.
I wish all ppl new just how hard it is to farm and just how much we need farmers and farms
Up in delphos Ohio were going on beans already which is really surprising seeing the spring we had
Thanks for the video !
Good luck in the race!!!
Thanks for the video.
Dont leave us hanging in the dust, need to see some cart racing videos of the 73 in action!
Zach you are one smart dude.
from UK ,,,,Thank you kind sir ,,
My unofficial favorite part of farm sim, playing jenga with the equipment. Granted, virtual equipment doesnt care when you bump into walls, or other vehicles haha. Good thing I'm more careful with my day job!
As always Zach, good stuff. Always enjoy your videos and a glimpse into farming life.
Love those pups!
When we plug a tube we usually use a 25’ stick of 1/2” rebar and can poke it from the end. Works well
awesome video sir, had a little of everything in there i love it. looks like things are picking up towards a hopefully very good harvest for you all. :D
Great video!
We picked 110 acres of beans yesterday in central Wisconsin!
Great video
"Historically, this is safer than a turkey burger"😂😂🤣👍🏻
zach, chimney cleaning rods work great for plugged grain pipes, i had the same issue last year.
Cant wait till December ...it's going to be awesome to play on your fram
I'm pretty stoked for the map!
I love everyone of your videos and I have an addiction to watching You 😅
Awesome video thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍👍
those grain legs are the death of all grain bin owners,, nice video ,,, show us go cart racing
love your videos....you rock keep up the good work!!!!
Mannnn! You always get the coolest jobs!!
Hello Zach I have been following you for couple years now, I used to farm In years ago in your area in late 80s decided to subscribe. I miss it sometimes.... I enjoy your vids. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Paul!
Love your video Zack
The young ladies are adorable! Looking forward to some "corn shelling vigdeos" in the words of some of your esteemed colleges. Keep up the excellent work Zach. Cool name BTW!
this looks like the perfect video for smellovision
Good luck in the race Onyx be safe 🏁 great video keep up the great work!
It's tough at the top Zach . 🤣😂great video.
Love that Starbuck DQ
We use rye as a cover crop all the time and it gives us abit of extra credit mainly with our corn
Maybe those guys that do maintenance on your grain dryer could do something related to turkey burger gas, it seems you can produce bunch of it. Maybe if properly stored can keep the grain dryer running for month or so.
🤣🤣🤣
A high pressure drain clearing nozzle might work. Cleans corn out of clogged poop pipes...
When the Millennial Farmer theme plays at the end and there's still 20 seconds of video left :D
That's right take care of that boy's car looking forward to more video's. Carl
Several years ago I worked at a grain elevator. First day I was tasked with cleaning out the boot pit of the leg had me really wondering how much I needed a job.
Thankyou zack
Videos
You’re very lucky Zach. In Australia at the moment we’re having a massive drought, Most farmers have no water so all the crops and livestock are dying... with not a single bit of help from the Australian government, it’s really sad to see.
I've recently started to hear a lot about this. Very sad
East Australia is really rough at the moment
Lots of hay being cut over here in the West to send over there
Some areas over here got hit by frost and wiped out the wheat crop so it's being baled as well
You cant buy a baler even if you want to the whole country is sold out atm
I'm glad to see that you are wearing your respirator in this video maybe you should have worn it when you were cleaning out the dryer as well. Keep up the video's, thanks John.
Yea a covered drive through over the pit would be nice...the feed mill here has a incline to the pit so it drains off better
Milwaukee battery leaf blower, works wonders for cleaning out grain bins after you run the sweep auger!
lol. You are getting asked where the Farm Sim map is almost as many times as the average Farm Sim mod creator gets asked if a particular mod is coming to consoles.
I bet you guys can't wait to get harvesting! Looking forward to seeing your experiences during harvest 19!
Thanks for sharing the ins and outs of your days with us.
Hope we get to see some of the race
You are the man Zack attack! 💯👊🏾👊🏾
Nice work
On the augur spout that fills the truck, there is a Y fitting on the end ( I think you called it a reducer). The flanged dead end of that Y fitting can be used as a clean-out port. An iron bar of sufficient length such as 5/8" rebar could be inserted through a hole of adequate diameter in the dead end and run up the down tube. We welded couplers on the rebar to allows us to add lengths easily. A man basket for the skid steer is a quick ans safe work platform for heights. The clean-out port can have a swing over cap for when its not in use.
love your videos, wish I had a farm to grow up on
I dont know what you would do without her! U would have never got that yellow thing fixed! Lol. That's awsome
"You OK??" always gives me a chuckle.... Thanks....
Last year we planted rye as a cover crop and this spring it was so tall it was over the hood of the tractor
Another gem Zack. Sorry to hear you lost your helper already..Next time keep a case of trophy's handy. Seems they love getting them for whatever it is they do..
Cool video
We are about 3 and a half weeks from a killing frost and yesterday is the first I have seen any soy beans starting to turn.
Well give some of that rain to Mississippi. We need it real bad! To dang hot as well.
GOD BLESS THE AMERICAN FARMER!!!
Send some rain down to Australia. Our poor farmers down here are into the 3rd year of a severe drought.
How come no videos racing ? Enjoy your videos and thanks for allowing us to tag along. Be safe
