2:50 Walter doesn't remember 'Olive'. Olivia doesn't remember 'daycare'. He reached unconsciously, like his hand recalls what his brain doesn't. You can see the moment Olivia's brain suddenly hits full Tetris, because the woman with photographic memory just remembered something from her only blind spot. And it's scaring the stuffing out of her. It's incredibly well acted, given that the arc isn't halfway *written* at this point.

1:07 Peter reacts to the "travelling between worlds" line. Walter hesitates at the refrigerator as he realizes he how much he almost let slip. Brilliant subtle acting by everyone.
I wonder how much they were told about where the show was going beforehand.

Interesting character quirk of Walter's, how he refers to William Bell.
It's Belly when he talks about his old buddy, but William when he talks about their work.

This moment turned the whole episode upside down. This came a few eps after Olivia was mysteriously able to disarm a bomb just by looking at it. And now she really starts to realize something was done to her and that she may actually be capable of doing weird stuff. And Walter, starts to really realize how much of a role he had to play in all of this..

i loved there the scene in the subway when Peter was holding the Bretzel in his hand. Outside of Germany not many people are aware to the fact that a Bretzel as a symbol is wearing off the Evil. That is why the Bretzel is also turning up in the woodcarving on many traditional done houses in the Rhineland area So it is a kind of a lucky charme

Poor Olivia, she looks so scared at 2:54 I feel so bad for her :( Peter is very worried about Olivia, the look on his face says it all Peter loves Olivia so much :) Peter & Olivia Forever!!!!! I love when Walter says WHERE`S THE FIRE! that part is really funny lol.

Olivia has a ridiculously good memory, but she doesn't remember that part of her life. We later see flashback episodes to the trials. The sudden fear is the memories coming back to her. Peter is flat out calling his father a mad scientist; and Olivia just remembered 'Doctor Walter'.

My only problem with Fringe, was I wish they had spent a bit more time with Olivia's story, I mean they NEVER even mentioned the name of her REAL father or even the actual name of her stepfather! Because by season 2 something changed in the focus of the show, it started out more as Olivia's story with Walter and Peter as just apart of it, but going by what Blair Brown said, Fox executives thought the ratings would do better if they switched their focus on Walter and Peter! Which is why even after Olivia got out of the hospital in the 2nd season, they kept focusing more on Peter, like he was the center character, not Olivia!
According to Blair Brown they thought the show would do better with the two male leads as the focus, not because they thought the story was better, but because they are men, and they believed scifi fans were mostly men and they would prefer the show focus on Peter and Walter instead of Olivia! Which is also why in several episodes they actually had other law enforcement people at crime scenes going up and reporting findings to Peter, like Olivia the FBI Special Agent was there, when she was standing right next to Peter! Which was so stupid and unrealistic, there is no way other FBI agents would have been reporting to Peter over Olivia, when Olivia was the agent in charge of the investigations! Peter was nothing more then a baby sitter for Walter to start with and later at most a consultant, but they still wouldn't have reported to Peter or Walter for that matter!
Also I found Peter interrupting Walter and Olivia to point out how Walter was describing experiments on children, like the writers thought we watching wouldn't notice, it actually just made Peter seem a bit picky, like in real life I am sure Olivia would have preferred if he had stayed quiet, while she was trying to listen to what Walter was trying to tell her, and Peter interrupted at least twice pointing out the obvious! It reminded me of the pilot when he started talking to Olivia like she was child, screaming about how Walter wanted to inject her with a bunch of drugs and stick her in a rusty tank, and how he's going to kill her if she lets him! It's like Every once in awhile the writers seem to sometimes repeat themselves, a bit too much!
I think the show would have done a lot better if they had at least spent a little more time on Olivia and her abilities, and still do much of what they did, but not while pushing Oliva's story away to the point that they seemed to have forgotten all about it! I think Olivia's story had so much more to it then even the whole thing of how Walter stole Peter to save him, from the Alternate earth,, if they had mix a bit more of her using her abilities, and maybe hadn't completely forgot her sister Rachel, niece Ella, I think it wouldn't feel so incomplete!
I know they had to rush to end it of course and in a way that made since to the viewers, but I just think maybe if they hadn't changed to focus of the show with the second season, maybe the show would have lasted longer!
And don't get me wrong, I love the show, though I admit it is more because of how well it was acted and that I became a HUGE fan of Anna Torv because of it, but I guess I just wanted to see more about Olivia, I mean we pretty much know everything about Peter and Walter, heck we even learned a lot about Broyles, and a little about Astrid, but we know very little about the character that was supposed to be in the first season the focus character, basically she was Mulder from the X Files, but I think better, a lot better! And she was wasted, it seems because of the wrong genital's, she didn't have a built in kickstand!

Yea I remembered watching this as a kid and felt so irritated that the focus changed to Peter instead because it started off so fascinating with the abilities and got toned down massively to turn to this Peter guy. I remembered saying this Peter guy isn't even charismatic enough to carry the show and his acting was really avg.
Now to think of it, how many time those male executives slowly killing off tv show ratings just because their old fashion thinking.
Such a sci-fi show driven by storyline is better than focusing on avg male actor.
The father and the female agent is a better pairing because of the contrast in the show

How did Walter not remember Olivia in Jacksonville? Did the writers actually watch the show?

    • @margoh.9423
      @margoh.9423 11 місяців тому

I guess the character arcs were still being developed, if so I gotta give them a break and chalk it up to parts of Walter's brain missing and Olivia blocking mental trauma from her memory. Knowing she was the strongest of the kids, with the biggest abilities, in combination with the physical abuse by her stepfather, leads me to believe her trauma was the most severe. She overcame it well but we learned in the LSD episode, 19 (where Peter finds Olivia hidden as a child before she transforms into an adult to confront her fears) she healed without fully understanding what she had to live through. IMO
