    I urge everybody who makes decent money to start building a homeless bag/bug out bag. You never know when disaster is going to hit. Be safe and God bless!

    Been homeless off & on since 77,, now at 66 year's old I'm homeless again and loving it..
    Learned a lot over the year's & whole heartedly agree with the fellow who said his main priority is a warm dry sleeping setup..
    And here in Florida a darn good mosquito bivy

    This is a survival bag not a homeless bag. Not having any clothing in it immediately disqualifies it. Another thing homeless people always try to carry with them is TP or baby wipes. TP is more realistic if you don’t have money. Moist towellettes are also useful. In Colorado, thinking of starting a fire isn’t an option due to the 28 year drought. I laugh at anyone who thinks a fishing kit is useful here. The poncho in this kit looks like junk. Socks are vitally important. I saw a homeless man’s bag that had 20 pairs in it. Locally, the homeless use headlamps to scrounge from the Salvation Army yard at night. A major thing missing from the bag is heavy duty contractor trash bags that are very useful and can be used as ponchos. Many homeless people have cell phones and chargers. I wouldn’t carry a lot of electronic stuff because it’s heavy. Being elderly, I can’t handle more than 20 pounds. The homeless people who are experienced try to be as invisible as possible so a bag with dayglo green trim is a bad choice. Above all, it takes talent, skill, and a lot of luck to survive being homeless for very long. I was also taught by a homeless friend how to identify a meth head or someone who was hooked on Vicodin or Fentanyl to avoid these people.

    I take it the backpack is packed for an urbanized area. I'd find a way to lock the pack up, maybe take the zip ties, or some homemade way to know if someone has been in your stuff. The backpack is home, chest of drawers, closet etc... it should be protected. 🙂

    Personally I think you have too much Bug Out Bag type stuff but I wish you all the best of of luck. I have been living out of my backpack for a year now and what is really important to me is sleeping dry and warm. So I have a decent sleeping bag, sleeping pad, ground sheet, and a tarp. Your knife is more than sufficient, but personally I have never needed a hatchet, fire steel or charcloth... or those folding saws I see on every bushcraft bag video. Also the first aid kit seems overdone, but it depends on where you live and what type of scrapes you forsee yourself getting into. I am jealous of that 10,000 mah backup battery though lol. My suggestion would be to upgrade to a better backpack as soon as you get a chance, I'm sure there are retired hikers out there who would donate one, and figure out what you use and do not use as you go along to tweek your gear. Like I said, best of luck. Your location and attitude will make all the difference.

    Forget the chap-stick use Vaseline . Make some char-cloth, you'll need it. Buy a quality poncho not that cheap one it will fail.
    Since your going on more of a camping trip than a homeless lifestyle get yourself an ax, and bring some bear spray if your not taking a hunting rifle. Oh and an instrument - guitar,harmonica,drum,etc..
    I spent two years living in the woods, trust me you'll need all of this.

    Howdy. I know this is an old video but here are some things I'd change. First some sort of jacket. I know you said you would meet up during the day but at night even in summer even a hoody would be welcome. I would concentrate all the loose medications into the first aid kit and all the outdoors gear into the little bug out bag. There's an excess of cordage in there id swap some out and add protein bars and some tea bags. I've done homeless training in some very large and dangerous cities and know how tough it is. I hope it all worked out for you

      @alphabears6342 3 роки тому +3

      As a homeless, it's hard to travel light unless you have a place to store your equipment and gear such a friends place, storage unit and so on. There are some things that could be done to make this lighter such as removing the small pouches and dumping all of it into a gallon size ziplock bag. I will also dump the headlamp and batteries and get a rechargeable headlamp or electronics that take only one type of batteries and if so, I would get rechargeable batteries four of them. I would also remove the cordage from the plastic containers. I would take the first aid, and dump all of it into a ziplock bag. But otherwise, great video.

      I know it's about a year later and I hope u will read this and hope u r doing ok and better.For all the trauma that you have been through, this is what I think you should do if things haven't gotten better for you. One, buy yourself some peperspray or mace and keep it easily accessible. It's about ten bucks and Big Five sells it or smoke shops sometimes. Also watch self defense videos free online. If someone is raping you or abusing you there are many shelters for women going through this now where they will help you with everything and you don't have to pay any rent and will be able possibly to save up a little money. Search online for domestic violence help for women. Nmbr two go talk to a social security disability lawyer and he will maybe send you to a psychiatrist he knows of to evaluate you free even if he thinks he can win your case of getting you disability.If you get it awesome, These attorneys don't charge you anything, most of them don't anyways for a free consultation and find one that's good by reading reviews on Yelp App from customers that reviewed him. You will get a big retroactive 6 months check first if u get approved and you will only have to pay your attorney a tiny portion of it. Some of these lawyers too will give you money too ahead of time or while your waiting for your settlement and then deduct it later from your settlement . You do know I believe you have a year or longer depending on what state you live in to file charges on a rape too. He may needs olive report too to help you get your disability but maybe not but also go get a restraining order on this guy free or low cost for low income victims get the fee waived too for the filing fee , you just fill out a form to do it and you can do it online for that too even. They also have domestic violence concelours at the courthouse in the cafeteria area usually that will help you fill out papers and she'll even go in with you and speak up for you to the judge too. They make sure your RO gets approved for you best believe. If you get disability then you can be independent and don't have to get support from others. Bless you.

    I did wander what you were going to do with all those fussy little things? Having been homeless the most important thing is being safe dry and warm. Next is food and hygiene. You do need some stuff but often not what you think. You can find a lot of stuff and you will soon work it out what you need. It depends where you are. I personally would not carry a lot as it is tiring and have secret places where I stash stuff to be retrieved when I need it.

    Not quite there yet I have a FREE Mains Power Generator about the size of a glass coke bottle for a backpack carry. It will give you 1 kw an hour all day everyday, uses no fuel and from that you can run anything electric, battery or mains, no batteries, weather, fuel time of day needs. Also in the works is removing the need for batteries on all your portable devices. A 10 kw version of the generator has been running for 3 plus years so far, it is only the trouble from the Oil investors that has and is preventing it going public. I have new ideas on how to break their monopoly, but be assured this is coming.
