It's a shame foosball doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Spredeman is the Tiger Woods of the sport but is unknown outside of the game. It should at least be as popular as bowling or pool but sadly like Tony said it's considered a 'bar sport'. The level of talent that the top players possess is mind boggling.
Totally agree. Foosball is the prototype of all modern competitive game, but when the pc game industry going down in the sink, we know what to do: Buy a foosball table.
What an excellent interview. So interesting to hear what the mindset of a master in his craft is. I would love to see this sport go mainstream, darts is a bar sport and is watched all around the world.
I got interested in foosball because the Jr. highschool I went to had 3 tables. This was back in about 1988-89, and we also had a couple of arcade games next to the snack bar. Other than bars I remember seeing them in bowling alley's that are no longer open. I haven't played in 20 years and just ordered a new table, I can't wait to get it.
I enjoyed meeting you, had to be about 5 years ago now in PA. Wish I could post the pics. I was in town for a 5 Finger Death Punch show and came down to check out the hotel after the show...you were having a tournament. Was great hanging out.
Bud (his dad) and I played in a few tourneys back in the day and played against each other a lot. Tony is the best and I like to watch him play all the time. Bud and I got to hang out in KY at the Worlds this year.
Mr. Tony: Since your dad played pro in the 70's, I bet he knew a guy named Bob Kurtin, (the bionic pull, ranked 7th in the world about then from what I heard). I almost beat him once in Grand Rapids MI. with a score of 4/3, (1993 approx), but then he started paying attention and sunk the last 2. :)
Just hold the worlds tournament at the same time & place as the Olympic games. Interest could grow from there. Isn't table tennis in the Olympic games?
Agreed - foos is just as fun to watch than Ping Pong. Tony said there are some loop holes...so maybe there's more than what we think. How can you have an olympics on multiple tables? Seems like you'd need to unify them all to really have a worthy gold medalist.

A super talented yet humble guy. You can't not root for him.

Nice interview. Keep going Tony.

Great player
Couldn’t ask for a greater ambassador for the sport
0:36 Now it all makes sense. Tony Spredeman got the foosball genes from his dad! Foosball's in his blood
Hello how are you Tony?
