I've tried almost every pair of LAPG pants type and they all seem to last far less than my 5.11s and Blackhawk pants. Sucks that LAPG can't be a long lasting alternative.

Honest, unbiased reviews are hard to come by. Good job, Jacob. Like SC Backwoods Bushcraft below, I go for Diamond Gusset brand jeans. As an aside, we make sand bags from the legs of worn out jeans for our gun club.

The problem with warranties, even good ones- is that an amazing warranty on a sub par product still leaves you with a sub par product when you REALLY need it.

Haven’t tried the jeans but ALL my pants are LAPG brand (core cargo, urban recon, urban ops, benchmark) and I love them. Durable, functional, good looking and inexpensive compared to 5.11 etc.

I've never seen these jean-type pants from them before, but I absolutely love their Operator pants. I have worn nothing but those pants for literally years. I have two different pairs and haven't had any issues. Tucking my keys into that small front pocket, carrying a flashlight every day, etc. I will say their boots wear out quickly, but I like the cheap boots with the zippers on the side, so I just buy another pair every year or so.

5.11 fast tac urban pant for 90 percent of weather in nc, inside and out. I bought 4 pair 6 years ago, wore them working in a warehouse setting and nearly every day. They are still going strong. For cold weather in nc or elk hunting out west I wear 5.11 stryker pants. Only complaint is I wish they made a pant with the thickness of the stryker without the side pockets and no velcro.

I appreciate the info. And your integrity. After years destroying jeans/pants the likes of Carhartt, Condor, and tons of Wrangler cargos (meh), I'm WAY past ready for quality cargo pants. Ill try the 5.11, then. Nothing to lose, tbh.

Maybe you got a defective pair. I have 6 pairs. Some for work and some for everyday. I edc carry knives multitools flashlights and my glock. I’ve never had an issue. I have a pretty active job and had no problems with the jeans. I did tear a small hole in my oldest pair but I snagged it on a nail.

I've been wearing LAPG Operator pants everyday for the last 10 years. I cram them full of gear and tools. They start to get rips after a couple of years. Not quite 5.11 quality, but half the price. I do have skinny bird legs. What works for me may not work for you.

I have two pairs that I bought 6 or 7 years ago , I’ve not had any problem with them other than they are not very comfortable ! Mine are not denim but a lite canvas ! I work in the wood shop with them and enjoy the extra pockets ! At $25. Each I’d say it’s a pretty good deal .

I wear 5.11 stretch jeans every single day. I have 7 pair and carry everything you mentioned an a few more items. I am a farmer and am very hard on jeans. My oldest pair is about 1.5 years old and the newest approx 11 months. The oldest are starting to age a bit. I would rather pay $50-70 once a year, or two, than $40 every 6 months. I have had very similar problems with other brands. I only bought the 5.11s because of the extra pockets. Once I got them and began wearing them, I saw that without snagging them on something, they were going to hold up. I have even snagged one pair of them on barbed wire and the hole has grown very minimally. I highly recommend them.

FWIW, I own 2 pair. One is going alright 2 years in. Few small rips, but OK overall. One pair ripped up the back pocket seam after probably 3 months. LAPG warranties them for me with a credit because a replacement wasn't in stock in the color and size. Idk, I'm 50/50 on them. Super comfy though.

Looks like you buy pants that are too tight for you. I have a closet full of LAPG clothing, including those jeans without a single problem. I regularly advertise their stuff, not because I've ever been paid for it or gotten it for free, but because I've always been so impressed with it. In fact, I was getting ready to review those very jeans as some of the best on the market. I sure hope people don't just abandon a great pair of affordable jeans because of this. 5.11's? Lmao!

I can not attest to all versions of their pants but I have three versions of their pants in my drawers right now that have lasted me 3 years. I am a surveyor and I’ve walked through the thickest of thick woods. No issues.
Edit: I actually got curious and went through my emails, it’s been over four years. The Atlas type pants, urban recon and urban ops. The worst thing that happened was the urban recons shrunk a hair(theyre a duck canvas material) and I did get a hole in the urban ops but I jumped a barb wire fence and they caught on my way down with my full weight(170lbs including gun, knife, flashlight heavy boots). Holes about the size of a penny and it’s just a little flap because of the rip stop material.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience but they’ve honestly been the best pants I’ve worn for work. Period. I can only imagine something like 5.11’s being even better.

@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors Seriously though, I have no experience with their jeans, but I have been wearing LAPG Basic Operator pants (cuz I'm an oPeRatOr 😉) every day for the last 5 or 6 years. I've got around 6 or 7 pairs now. Basically I wanted some cargo pants and I think I saw Chris Tanner or somebody recommend them so I gave them a shot. For $23-$28 a pair, I've been pleased. They eventually fray at the bottom, but for the price, they've been gtg. Granted, I'm mostly working from home and sitting at a desk, but I wear them every day, whether working outside around the house or whatever. And I carry at 4 o'clock, and also EDC a couple flashlights, medical, pocketknife, etc.
I do 100% agree about the front button. That is entirely too long and absolutely digs into me. Might be time to try some 511s or something else.

When i do a review like this, the context really is for prepping- so while the pants may be good for every day use for some people, i would like, and i need to work on, framing every review to the perspective of what will or will not work in an inhospitable environment.
For any kind of serious environment i do not recommend these pants- i recommend investing either in issue pants on the cheap, or 5.11's. There are other options on the higher end that i am sure i will never review.

Boot cut (which these were) or anything else-
The issue is the ratio between waist and thigh diameter.
