    Such a complicated Thermostat for such a basic function. I was about ready to pull this off the wall and toss it in the trash. Thanks for posting this. If I didn't see this, the T-Stat was a goner!

    Thank you so much I have these at Cal State Northridge and none of the students don’t know how to program it not even the maintenance guys knew how to use it when I requested them for help, I’ll pass on the knowledge thank you so much ! My apartment dorm was always humid and muggy.

    We have this at work and it’s so complicated. This helps a lot but still wish it was more program used friendly.

    It looks like I have the same model shown here, but when heat is on the room temperature is always about 2 degrees below what I set it to heat to. Any idea what might cause this if it's an issue?

      Your thermostat most likely is set to a 2° differential. You'll have to go through the thermostat installer settings and change it to 1°. If you don't have the installer manual, look for a free download PDF version on the internet. Just type in the thermostats model number followed by the letters PDF.

    Thanks for your video it is really helpful, just a question i have this thermostat but why you think my furnance heater keeps turning on everyday around midnight even when thermostat is off? Thanks!

    • @johnharrisonschulz
      @johnharrisonschulz  8 місяців тому +1

      Could be a ghost.
      How old is your heater?
      When you say the heater comes on at midnight, do you mean the heater actually comes on and heats the house at midnight, or do you mean the fan comes on?

    Great video, thanks. I have a question for you, if you have the time. I have an old TOTALINE thermostat Mod # P374-1100 that needs to be replace. This stat has an advance setting that lets me program it to turn the fan ON every hour at the hour for 5 or 10 mins at a time without messing the temperature program. What other affordable thermostat will do the same? Please advise!! Thanks again for your videos.

    Mine says EH for cool and when I try to make it warmer it won’t let me but it will go down. And when I try to make it warmer I can’t. 😅

    • @johnharrisonschulz
      @johnharrisonschulz  7 місяців тому +1

      EH probably means: Emergency Heat. The configuration settings on your thermostat probably don't match the type of HVAC system you have. I would confirm your configuration settings in the thermostat. You'll need the installers manual to do that.

    hello i have a question, i tend to put this thermostat to 'cool' 77 'on' everyday when i get to work, then i turn it off when i leave. would you say this function would be more cost effective or putting it on auto mode? if auto, then what temp for hi and lo would be good for my preferred temperature. thank u sooo much!

    • @johnharrisonschulz
      @johnharrisonschulz  6 годин тому

      When u say "on", I'm assuming you are talking about the fan setting. Setting the fan to "on" Will allow the fan to run continuously(Non-Stop), It will never cycle off and on automatically. Most people leave the fan setting in "auto". If you are in a school or office environment,
      setting/programming the fan to "on" is a common practice because it will continuously circulate the air only when the building is occupied to reduce a stuffiness and stagnant environment.

    • @johnharrisonschulz
      @johnharrisonschulz  6 годин тому

      There should be a "mode" button that you can push and switch it to another setting. If that doesn't work, then the thermostat might just be locked. Look for a locked symbol on the display.

    Can anyone help me get instructions on reprogramming a Totaline heating-a/c model P 374-1700? I put in that specific info and wound up here. Trust me I've looked. Everything was fine through the summer months with the a/c. I can't seem to know which buttons to push with it now.

    This sucks!! I’m in my hotel room freezing and I can’t find one video that just simply shows you how to turn up the heat!! Not program it for a future date and whatever else these videos demonstrating.

      @johnharrisonschulz  3 роки тому +1

      If I saw a picture of your thermostat I could probably walk you through it. Was it the exact same looking one that you see in my video? There are hundreds of different thermostats. Hotel thermostats are usually controlled through a Wi-Fi network so even if you could find something, it probably wouldn't help. Probably best to contact the front desk which is what they are there for.

    • @johnharrisonschulz
      @johnharrisonschulz  Рік тому +1

      I totally agree. I do not find that thermostat user friendly at all. From years of experience, most thermostats I can figure out how to program it without even looking at the manual. But these T3800 thermostats are so confusing, even I have to read the owner's manual step by step every time I program one. I will never buy and or sell these thermostats. Venstar should never have changed the T2800 thermostat. T2800 is my favorite thermostat of all time.

    Such a piece of $hit of engineering and programming. How about putting BASIC buttons like AC/Heater switch. Then up/down you can toggle the temp. Then 7 buttons for each day of the week to press and program, with the LCD screen displaying Program

    • @johnharrisonschulz

      You should see some of the other thermostats I've worked on. Figuring out this thermostat is a piece of cake compared to some of the other ones I've had to deal with. It's a learning curve but once you get the hang Of operating and programming it, it ain't so bad.
