- Ultimate Bass Battle of Old Bass Singers (C2-E0).
JD Sumner, Harold Gilley, George Younce, Richard Sterban, Mike Holcomb.
I included the best low notes of these singers. Enjoy!
I definitely appreciate anything you’d like to do to support my channel: www.paypal.com...
Great Guys:
Marcello Bass - / @marcell0bass
Beefy Pancakes - / @crunchycrackers7364
Matthew Dockray - / @matthewdockray9745
Cole Fountain - / @colefountain1030
BadamB B - / @badamb401
Freddie Studio - / @freddiestudio7668
So glad to see Harrold finally included. I love them all but JD is really something.
@@Luckyluc1151 sorry I don't.
2:04 alot stronger than what im used to with JD. his notes are normally really soft and breathy
His smoking and drinking kinda butchered an otherwise quite powerful voice
@@matthewdockray9745 damn
Also it looks like this was recorded when he was younger (for a bass singer) when he was in his 40's and 50's I think he was extremely powerful, but most of the stuff on youtube is when he was already 60's+ and unless you're a beast like Tim Riley a lot of bass singers get very soft in that age with their tone
his early lows are a lot more interesting to me for that reason. his voice technically got lower but he could still sing like G1-F1 or something before he got older and his voice became all air
@@heliotropeskies5918 yeah naturally JD is quite a low voice ( pretty much Basso profondo). His resonance seems questionable but if he was capable of oktavism and would have been one of he was trained one. Even Yuri Vishnyakov agrees
starting from 19:12, JD turned from a human to a sub bass used in dubstep
Didn’t expect that slip up at 2:40
Nice selection of George clips
JD Sumner a man who loved the Lord and used his voice to honor him!
On Elvis Presley’s last released single before he died way Down at the very end of the song JD hits the Eo amazing the lowest singer in the world and a great man!
Amazing video bro ! Keep up the hard work
Wonderful!! Keep 'em coming!
8:35 thanks for including that!
Mike Holcomb is the best bass singer.
@@ArthaKeeter-gy9ywno not even close fry’s every thing from G1 on down and in his younger days he fryed every from B1 on down
Todos ótimos...Cantando Louvores.Somos ao Senhor...Agradecidos.....
It almost sounded like Richard struggled with that Bb1 that was more recent than the others, is it just bc is older now
I think it is. I've noticed the same thing in other recent clips of him as well, even with C2s (a note that he pretty much made iconic thanks to "Elvira"). It's unfortunate that you can't get your voice restored the same way you can change guitar strings or drumheads.
@@GamingDrummer89 true that, he can still hit the notes but just not with the same ease as he used to bc he is older
You can not have a contest such as this without encludeing London Parris. There was non better.
When it comes bass voices, no one can top J.D. Sumner. Harold Reid of the Statler Brothers should have been included.
He was the greatest no doubt
2:10 Wow J.D. looks 30 tops here!!
He looked young

Several of these "chest notes" sound like "fry notes" to me. On recordings, they generally sing notes they can hit consistently. I am convinced that I have heard Mike Holcomb hit several notes lower than any here while warming up in his living room.
No bass singer will ever have as many peasant of a voice as George Younce. He want the lowest but he could sing melody so much better than any other imho. This is because he started out singing lead.
What's the song where JD sings down to an E0? Is the whole song on UA-cam? Great video!
I think thats private now. Thank you!
It's "Swing low, Sweet chariot" from the very last Elvis live on 26/06/1977

What is the song at the very beginning before showing the singers, and who sung it
ken turner?
It's like being able to sing while belching
