UI Stead Family Children's Hospital 2022 Kid Captain: Tate Manahl

Three-year-old Tate Manahl had just gotten home with his mom and was excited to see his dad out mowing the lawn. He ran toward the lawn mower and was run over when it was backing up. Tate was critically injured when the mower covered his legs and lower abdomen. He was flown to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, where his care team worked to save his organs, and then his legs.
