I don't think I have seen a more chill pusscat in my entire life. She was so zen. She was obviously interested and engaged, but very comfortable and relaxed. I'm amazed, quite honestly. I also think the list of worries and concerns you had about the trip and the efforts you'd gone to to think about her comfort and her well-being made me love you both a little bit :)
She probably keeps facing the mesh because her breath goes out of it instead of bouncing back in her face

I have 3 cats and the youngest is the most tolerant creature on the planet. I got her at 8 months from a family in the country that had about 12 dogs and 2 little boys. Nothing fazes her. I occasionally take her to pet smart, but I put her in a harness and leash and plop her in the child seat of the cart. No bending or stretching involved. She just hangs out, looks around, and lets people pet her.
aaron anstett OP meant Chelsea...not the cat. Chelsea kept having to put her back to things to show them to the cat, and if she wore the backpack on her front she wouldn’t have to do that.
I take my cat out on leash in pet stores... and she sleeps with my guinea pigs... 😂😂
It is very easy to tell when a cat hates something or is scared. They screech/hiss/spit/growl/pee/meow non stop. She did none of those things. She was content to lay down and just hang out. Also, when did reopen the bag, she didn't launch herself out of it. She just looked over and then proceeded to move around. I'd say it was a resounding success.

There are catnip bubbles as well as catnip spray. The bubbles are hilarious!! That would make good filming! LOL!
I like this idea.
My cats loved the spray catnip. They loved it so much I nearly started a fight between them. So definitely spray it far enough apart so they don't roll into each other's space.
Bella gets an A+ for her tolerance and her coolness! The white beard priceless. Good girl Bella sweetheart, love to you and family.

This actually happened to me in middle school. My cat jumped into my backpack when I wasn't looking. He must have fallen asleep because he didn't make a peep the whole walk to school. It wasn't until the bell rang for class to start that I heard him meowing. Had to call someone to come and get him.

That is actually a robot hamster and I used to have one. The only problem with those little boogers is that if they're not handled every day, they will bite and become little escape artists bc they're SO FREAKING FAST. This is why I prefer Sirian hamsters over robot hamsters

You could volunteer at a cat rescue to help socialize cats. Thats where you just get to mostly play with them & get them used to humans. It's a big help to them.

She keeps looking through the side thing, because she can smell things through this and cats rely on smell, rather than sight. Honestly, amazed she is so comfortable in this backpack!
She was really cool with it. My Harlequin would be cussing up a storm & possibly her brother too. But since Bella seemed to like it they should take her out more.
I have the same backpack and my little boy does the same thing! He has the entire bubble to look through but he likes looking through the side mesh more it's so cute and funny!

Bella did so well in the backpack. She could have gone nuts but didn't. She was like a classy lady. I loved the whipped cream all over her face. You have to get catnip bubbles for your next video. Keep slowly training her to walk in a leach, she is so chill I think that would work so good in the future.
Some cats refuse to go in leach , no matter how much you train them, And if you live in busy streets and they get scared , they can acutally break loose of it , And if cats are good entertained at home they can be perfectly happy as indoor cat. So for me I think the bagpack is better. :) much more safe.
So something to keep in mind:
Sometimes the cat does get a reaction from cat nip but also starts bullying the dogs. I got the catnip call circle track thing for my mother's cat and he liked it (played with it every day) but then he started pouncing and attacking the family dog. My mom tied the track in a garbage bag and two days later the cat stopped attacking the dog. So we through the toy away.
Just imagine if they made these for dogs and koda could get in it
it would be damn heavy :D :D

Loved seeing Bella out and about. That backpack was cool and in Cat Speak Bella enjoyed it. Cats always gotta be cool and not let on how much they enjoy activities. Trust me if she didn’t like it you would know for sure. Cats are never shy showing displeasure with something in my experience.

She likes the mesh part of the backpack because she can smell more scents from it. You should have gotten a full mesh backpack instead of a partially mesh/plastic backpack. Plus, then you don’t have to worry about how hot she is
If it was full mesh, she would likely get her claws stuck in it really badly, that could tear out a claw.

Well cats are not just hissing and being mean. They are so sweet especially when you work on relationship with your pet. I have a cat who demands non stop petting and attention just like Cooper 🤣 also my cats play fetch as well, they love chasing balls.
