I tried it with the Cream of Wheat we have in the US and it worked beautifully! I will still make traditional cream of wheat for breakfast but I will be making this often when I want a quick rich dessert ❤️ I absolutely loved it! Thank you so much for up loading this simple dessert.
We have a product in the US called "Cream of Wheat" it's been sold here since 1893. It's like semolina but is not durum wheat. That wheat variety isn't grown here normally. We simply add butter, a little salt, some kind of sweetener plus a little cream to thin it out. It's needs the thinning because the traditional recipe results in a very thick consistency. It's cooked with just water. I have loved it all my life. And that would be decades! 👵😁 I'm sure it would lend itself to being prepared this way. I'm looking forward to giving it a try. Tonight. I always have it in the cupboard, and I have the rest of the ingredients as well. Thank you for this simple recipe for a product I love so much.
I think this recipe would work well with Cream of Wheat. I tried Cream of Wheat before and really liked it. Please let us know how it turned out, that would be very interesting. Guten Appetit!
@@jbkhan1135 it worked great with the cream of wheat! It's so much richer than how we have traditionally make it. I will still make it like normal for breakfast but I will be making this often when I want a quick rich dessert.
Wow Chef!!! I’ve been making semolina pudding my whole life and my kids loved it- but your recipe is outstanding and now my grand babies will enjoy a better version- Yours!!! Very happy I found your channel. I’ve enjoyed many of your recipes exactly as you described them! I’m a seasoned cook and enjoy international cuisines, and I’m sure young cooks will find your recipes very easy to follow. In my opinion, German cuisine is underrated. Simplicity is the best in cooking. Please keep on posting your amazing recipes. Congratulations from Anna a Greek yiayia (grandma) in New York City
The recipe calls for soft wheat semolina, but I read that durum wheat semolina is different and not interchangeable. Can you use durum wheat semolina or does it have to be soft wheat?
I made this pudding with durum wheat semolina and it turned out the same way. I think the reference that soft wheat semolina and durum wheat semolina are not interchangeable refers to make pasta. For the pudding both variations work and are used in Germany for desserts.
for those who prefer a savory semolina: 1. yellow coarse semolina 2. water:semolina = 4:1. 3. low-sodium salt. 4. garlic granules. 5. malt vinegar. 6. coarse black pepper. once cooked, if you like, add some well-mashed beans or potatoes.
The word 'semolina' comes from the latin 'simila' which means flour. It is obtained from durum wheat and is believed to have originated in Central Europe around 7000 BC.
Yes Arabs have their dish using Semolina flour its called Layali lubnan if im not mistaken. I think they use rose water and rose petal in ,,its also a veerrrrrry delicious desert.❤
We use to have this at school in the UK! It was served with a blob of strawberry (or raspberry) jam.
Never tried it with jam, but sounds yummy
@@AllTastesGerman It is! As kids we use to mix the jam and semolina together and make it turn pink.
@@sean.furlong1989 dude I did that everytime haha, amazing
