  • I came across the news yesterday that JLo Beauty by Jennifer Lopez has left Sephora stores. The article that I read insinuated that sales were down significantly. What went wrong? Let's talk about it.

    jen, I'm crying right with you. I'm nonbinary myself. I've said this before in a comment, but seeing you support your child means the world to me. it gives me hope for future generations. thank you for being you, thank you for letting them be them and discovering who they are from a place of love and curiosity instead of fear. and thank you for speaking up in support of us in general.

    We have such a distorted view of what JLo actually looks like…if you can find a picture of her that hasn’t been touched up like crazy she looks like somebody her age who’s taken good care of her skin

    I am crying with you! For ANYONE to use religion as the underlying premise to hate others is DISGUSTING! Why can’t we just let people be who they are as long as it doesn’t hurt others? I am repulsed by allegedly religious people who spout hate!

      We have an entire political party that pulls at the religious sensibilities of a certain religion to tell other how to be and what to think. Worse yet, we have millions of people who think this is appropriate thinking and behavior in a democracy: TELLING OTHERS HOW TO LIVE -- NOT.

    • @fleetwoodmacncheese4159
      @fleetwoodmacncheese4159 Місяць тому +11

      @@Patriot1789 yes! The only time its appropriate to tell people how to live is when they're hurting others. Like, obv, p3dos, r@pists, impaired drivers, murderers, violent people etc. You know what I mean. 😅 Both parties have religious undertones and old-school judgemental vibes sadly but I'm more afraid of the republican party rn.

      Right? So many use religion as an excuse for hating others for how they live. Like we can choose to believe in whatever religion but others can't not believe in any higher being or to live whatever sexuality? Whether they're gay, lesbian, bi, trans etc it shouldn't matter! Just don't hurt others that's what counts. I am Christian and have been a big ally for the LGBTQ+ community for years. And not that that makes me better than anyone but yeah. Just saying religion is not an excuse to hate ANYONE. As christians we are taught to love everyone but unfortunately alot of us dont

    Sweet Jen, I felt the aching pain in your words to my soul re:the RBK story. I’ve been watching you both for many years and I’ve always enjoyed RBK content. I’m beyond shocked & sad to think this is true, but until I hear different what can you believe?? I have two children in the LGBTQ+ community and I have accepted it from day one..to me it wasn’t a choice, it was something they were from birth and nothing could make me love them less! I’d lay down and die for them ❤❤❤ let’s wipe our tears and try to smile again. HATE WILL NOT WIN

    As a nonbinary adult, your love and care for your child made it feel like a lil part of my inner child healed a little bit. To see a parent love and accept their child how you do, when at my big age of 27, my own mother doesn’t even believe in being nonbinary. The love you showed, that made my heart warm. Thank you for being such a wonderful parent. Seeing you and parents like you, it gives hope to those of us who didn’t have such acceptance.

    • @Una...
      @Una... 20 днів тому

      @@sherryelle225 she posted a video on the fourth of July of her son marching in a fourth of July parade. It was actually more than that. It was put on by an co-op homeschool organization whose mission statement is to homeschool their children in order for their kids to find a person relationship with "their Lord Christ Jesus", and keep them out of the evil public school system. They believe that the lgbtqia+ community are predators, and have an agenda to indoctrinate their children. The co-op homeschool was started by her sister, who said that god had given her, personally, a message to start this homeschool, as a seed to create even more of them. Rbk said that she is, not only building her sister a house on their property, but also a school building for said homeschool co-op. She supports the school financially as well. When anyone asks her about it, she deleted the comments and blocks the user. I've been blocked on all platforms, and myself and most others were respectful, and just wanted to know if it was true. Since this news has been getting traction, the school has taken down their social media, and rbk has deleted any pics that tie her to the school. She also refuses to come out and speak about it. Which is fine, she can believe what she wants, put out (or not) what she wants, the problem is, she is supported financially by the public, by people watching her, supporting the companies who sponsor her, etc, and have a right to know if their money (views, etc) are supporting hate.
      This is a nutshell version of info. There have been many videos made on this subject. 🤍

    I’ve been watching your channel for awhile now and thoroughly enjoy it. I rarely comment on UA-cam videos. But this one got to me. I am a mother of 3 and a former teacher. Our only concern is to provide our children a safe environment to become healthy and compassionate adults who will be better than ourselves. My oldest is a young gay man. He is terrified of the world and this breaks my heart. It’s as if the LBGQ+ community bear the scarlet letter from the hypocrisy of the people who should be protecting them and loving them. I see in my children the potential for real change because they are better humans than I see from the older generations. There’s some hope in that. ❤❤❤

    I'm so devastated re. Rbk. Lgbt myself, saw the signs and ignored them all because I just didn't want it to be true. What is so hurtful and sad is that she cries out for community and that tugs at my heart because I also am very isolated like she is and struggle with the impossible tasks and standards expected of moms. We/society pushes them all alone in the home and works them to death and hurt them and treat them like dirt, is it any wonder that hurt people hurt people and they band together and get paranoid and anti vax/karen/hateful mom groups etc? Kristi's group "don't mess with our kids" is a great example. And then the cycle just continues and everyone goes on hurting each other. I hope she is ok, her family is ok, and all those kids that will be at that school will somehow be ok despite being taught to be hateful :(

      @@Nailsandmorebysavanna there is a pretty comprehensive reddit post about it on r/fauxmoi which is admittedly a gossip reddit page, can't share links on UA-cam but I'd check it out and see some posts of hers which associate her with a pretty hateful group. Not just in a tangential way, a directly supportive way in terms of finances, hosting them on her property, and sending her child along with other children out of regular school and to be home schooled (imo indoctrinated) in the organizations mindset. Please look for the links and don't just trust hearsay such as someone posting "I heard this happened" or similar, just use it as a jumping off point and then judge based on rbks own posts and then the organizations she is linked to. Her behaviour is unfortunately quite damning as well as if you comment about it you will likely find yourself blocked and I think she's deleted a few posts as well so we only have screenshots to go on in a few cases. But please don't just trust me automatically I'm just a random online person and I'm struggling to articulate myself, look into it yourself! If you find better more clear info please share also. There's a small possibility she's just surrounded by these people and possibly isn't one herself but I must say it seems like that chance is insanely small and I have been so desperately hopeful that she's not on board with it but I really do think the evidence makes it irrefutable at this point :(. I'm bi myself and I love some trans people deeply so I really appreciate the interest in finding out more and being concerned about us alphabet mafia 💜

I'll clarify what I mean but its very hard to talk about bc I'm worried I'll be judged. I'm a felon. I have one felony where violence was NOT involved. I was arrested over 6 years ago for marijuana and in my state it was enough to be considered intent to sell even though I was most definitely not selling my stuff! 😂 Anyway, I've never admitted that online or irl but with the whole "VOTE OR SHUT UP!" bs I feel like I might have to talk about it. A little weed gets your rights striped completely away but in my state of terrible Tennessee (and many others) it takes 4 DUIs aka attempted murder to get a felony when it should be first offense so I feel like its very backwards in the states...

The niacinamide and fermented sake/yeast mix play well for me. But, I will say that I loathe the packaging, and I know that's where most of the money goes (I've talked about this a lot on my own channel). It is clunky, heavy, and takes up so much space when traveling. I've also tried the other products and have found nothing worth a repurchase. And for further disclosure, I would not consider myself a Jlo fan - nothing against her - I just have no feelings at all about her.

    Super live Jen 💛 What I deplore about Rare Beauty and many of the influencers who promote it is the notion that the products are not “expensive”. While this is extremely false, that Rare Beauty products are on the contrary more expensive, but people at the grocery store in no way look at the number of grams for the price. I had done the calculations, and many Charlotte Tilbury products (and many others) are cheaper if you calculate by gram. Nobody talks about it or mentions it, the influencers continue and say loud and clear that it is well priced and cheaper. I'm afraid that many cosmetic companies will take inspiration from this and decide to reduce the grams and keep the same price, or release new products with less quantity to gradually make us pass the increase. 😅

    Jlo beauty is one of - if not - the most boring looking celeb brand I have seen in the cosmetics field. Here’s how I feel about it:
    No marketing, no endorsement, no aesthetic, no selling point. Lady gaga is selling fermented arnica, rihanna is selling lipgloss, Halsey is selling the y2k crossed with punk and alternative aesthetic, Selena is selling kindness, we already have italian nona selling us olive oil, do something different.
    And she is the only model on the website so you don’t know who is the audience this brand tried to target. The gold bulky design is too old school for gen z and even millennials, but she doesn’t have any older ladies on her website. It’s just Jlo has a cream, buy it

    Awesome job, Jen. I couldn’t have said it better myself. No person, no child, should ever face judgement for who they were born as. Period. I want you off my feed if you can’t maintain that easy to respect boundary. My husband and I had a very deep conversation yesterday. He’s a cisgender male and I’m a cisgender female. He’s straight and monogamous- not attracted to males at all. For me, most importantly, I am monogamous. My preference is to either be in a relationship with one person, or not at all. Beyond that, being completely honest, my attraction is not to a particular gender. However, during the time I was raised, girls were expected to like guys. Who knows what would have happened for me without the pressure and criticism I’ve heard? And I’m not old. I just turned 38. It’s not like I was raised in the 1930’s and the expectation was that I be a housewife. I was raised in 90’s and 00’s. The expectation I saw from everywhere (except my mom and grandparents fortunately) was that I have children, I take excellent care of the house, the children, and my husband, that I be highly educated (this is one my mom did push though because she was stuck in jobs because she didn’t go to college), and make enough money to support all of these people. My happiness be damned. When I was going to have time to sleep and eat or even use the bathroom… well, no one ever gave clarity on that. And that’s from a 38 year old. We’re not giving that message to younger people. That was unacceptable for me to have experienced. It’s not happening anymore. That’s CANCELLED (Yes, I said the C word 🫢). And so is anyone who can’t get that message through their head, including Kristi. Anyways, nicely said, Jen. Thank you.

I immediately looked up the situation at hand, and within minutes was able to find the sisters Facebook and the co-op page and I have NO words for the horrors. Thank you for being a bright light to ALL. I appreciate you.

    IMO, JLo Beauty started with skincare in a market over saturated with products that aren’t really that different from anything else and don’t really do anything for people who have skin needs and don’t have normal skin with no skin concerns while pretending like celebrities don’t see medical aestheticians and get the best of the best in skincare. there was almost a feeling of entitlement to consumer support- “You should buy this because JLo’s great and only common slug people don’t think so.” That’s a whole bunch of reasons for consumers to say, “No, thank you.” Rare Beauty launched a selection of products. It wasn’t a full line. It’s added to it over the years. Inclusion was clearly at the forefront from inception, not an afterthought. In no small part because Fenty established that inclusivity is profitable. And there was a humility before the launch. It felt like they were saying, “Yes, we’re launching cosmetics. But we hope you like them.” When the brands launched, I was no more a fan of Selena Gomez than I was of Jennifer López. But how Rare Beauty conducted themselves before launch, and what they’ve done since has made it so I’ll keep them in my stash. I didn’t check for JLo Beauty. I didn’t want to hear about what they were doing. And I’ve never even walked by to purchase.

    JLo has shown herself to not be a good human. People are realizing that. I’ve enjoyed her music and movies, and have purchased the JLo beauty products in the past. No more…..She needs to step off her high horse and mean it. All people deserve to be treated with respect….until they show you why you shouldn’t!

    Biggest tip for not destroying your skin (making it age faster), stay out of the sun and don't smoke nicotine (but any kind if smoking is bad for lung health and the knock in effect). Also exercise is always good and sleeeep. Genetics trumps all.

    I feel like a lot of these comments are hypocritical. "You should never tell anyone what to do." Well aren't you doing that by saying that Kristi can't raise her own kids however she wants? "You should be accepting of all people" unless they disagree with you. Kristi is raising her kids however she wants to, and that's literally not hating on anyone. Live and let live. It's ok to have different opinions.

    I have literally walked past her brand in Sephora multiple times and it just … never appealed to me. I can’t even explain it. I love her, the packaging was cute too. It’s just never did it for me. I think the price was just unreasonable for the product. But I can’t even say that cause I’ve brought expensive products from other brands. Maybe bad marketing? No one talked about it, no big influencer used it or boosted about it. Either way, I can understand why it’s being pulled from stores.

    Olive oil is used in a lot of skincare. It's not just straight oil. There's oleic and linoleic acids from the oil. It depends on the formula. But I tried a moisturizer that was touting olive oil as it's main ingredient and it destroyed my skin. I had to go to the doctor because I didn't know what was happening, I had sores appearing. She gave me a steroid cream, but it wasn't until I stopped using the moisturizer that I realized what was causing it. I wrote to the company and sent photos and they had the nerve to send me a free set of products for acne!! Unbelievable. I think jlo missed the boat with her brand. Maybe in the 90s it would have been better received, but now days we understand ingredients and know our skin. Plus with Korean skincare widely available with fantastic ingredients and for much lower prices., I can't see the point in buying anything from her line. It's just basic creams and serums. Nothing else is in them but basic ingredients. And the exorbitant use of plastic on her products is gross too. She totally missed the mark. Jlo looks great, but she doesn't look any younger than other women the same age. You can't stop aging. Take care of yourself, inside and out. Be the best version of you. I think women in their 40s look better than they did when they were younger, because they're more confident. They radiate. 😊💚

  • @betsybabf748
    @betsybabf748 Місяць тому +2

    Lifestyle is more of a factor than even genetics. We all see that over 40 if we've ever gone to a high school reunion lol. People like to bash the rich saying they look great because they have money. That is bull, because there are many millionaire and billionaires who have tried every option that money can buy and look like crap. It also can not be found in a serum or moisturizer. Years, years of proactive skin care can help, but no product will undo decades of lifestyle choices. JLo does deserve credit for her looks. She looks young because she has spent over 30+ years using spf, not drinking, using drugs or smoking, while eating healthy and staying fit with consistent good muscle tone, etc. She put in the effort and sacrifice, and that is what it takes. If someone chooses to not make healthy lifestyle choices ages 18 to 50, they will age more than those who put in the work. Gaining weight, even if it is lost afterwards, plays a huge part in the condition and look in our skin over time, as does all our daily habits. We can't buy our way out of those things, even with a billion dollars in the bank.

    Let me just say. Your a strong woman, a strong mom. And i stand by your statement. Some people will never understand unless they have experienced it themselves or on any personal level.. and often times , when an idea or opinion is forced onto someone as a young age they end up becomming the opposite. So good luck to her as a mom if her son ends up deciding he is lgbtq+ later in life. Its an estranged relationship just waiting to happen.. God loves ALL people ! Not just conformed ! She must not have read her Bible correctly because there was PLENTY of LGBT+ stories in there. Isnt God technically non binary? Neither man nor woman? But our GOD!!! God bless anyone and everyone. No matter who you are! ❤❤❤❤

    I was obsessed with JLo products when she was at her peak in the early 2000’s. I think she thought that the same people who loved her then was going to love her now. I feel like her audience has evolved but she hasn’t. So I’m not surprised that it’s tanking because she has always relied on her celebrity status to sell. It’s a totally different climate now. It just feels really disingenuine.

People with oily skin also age slower, as well as people who stay active. Say whatever you want about Jlo but you can’t deny she has stayed active throughout her life!
