So many memories. I got a new Matchbox car every couple of weeks from pre-school years, we're talking early 1960s. I also inherited some of the very earliest Lesneys. I didn't quite have a complete set, but I owned most of them. They were sold from a numbered display case, with less popular models showing a full rack, and the hot cars containg a single box or sometimes none, awaiting delivery. For a young kid into cars the display rack was eye watering. There was also a catalogue where you could plan your next purchase. I'd spend hours on the rug in an imaginary world. Fantastic!
Impressive! My parents bought me many matchbox hotwheels when I was a kid then they gave them away when I left for college. I started collecting 1:18, 1:8 and many other scale diecast in later years in the hundreds. Then I have two boys that I start buying them many matchbox and hotwheels to the point they were not interested that they were just in a big plastic bin. I recently organize them and I start to collect the 1:64 matchbox and hotwheel again in my older age! We should start a co-op matchbox hotwheel and diecast car museum!
People interested could pay a ticket to see all these, it really feels like visiting a diecast museum! I had a few of these 70s Matchbox models as a kid. I'd really like to see your Greenlight collection as i'm really into this brand the last two years or so. Thanks for this great tour!
Thanks for the comment! Good idea on the Greenlight video, I'll put in on my to-do list. First up will be Majorette though! Seems that's the most popular request at the moment
WOW what a collection, it looks like you raided my toy box, especially the earler stuff from the late 60s early 70s, had lots of those and here all these years my older sisters took them.lol
I enjoyed looking round your matchbox, lots of interesting variations and a few I have not seen before. Incredible your childhood cars are so well preserved.
Hi K5! Thanks for your comment! I did take care of most of my cars as a kid very well, they were very much "indoor toys". When I found banged up cars from local kids and garage sales I would take those ones outside, but they always got cleaned after and returned indoors... never left cars outside for long LOL. Must have had a touch of the OCD from a young age :)
Hi awesome video I saw a few cars that I have from my youth Ive just started collecting again and I’m 42 haha keep up the good work I watch and rewatch every day thanks 😃👍🏻
i got back in the habit 4 yrs ago,, i have a big collection when i was a kid,, i lived for playin woth my dinkys,,,mst got lost over teh yrs,, i saved a white 65 mustang by match/lesney with movable from wheels,,, i have over 1300 carded an about 100 loose of all brands,,,still lovin it,,,ur collection made me drool,,,rockin on here in halifax nova scotia
Thank you for posting. I have so many fond memories. When i was a child I collected Matchbox cars from the lates 60's to the early 70"s. I see a lot of my favorites and a few that were very hard to find in the pre-ebay days :-)
There was a Woolworths in Chicago that had the elaborate sliding glass door Matchbox display case. I needed the #71 Red Jeep Pick up truck. No one esle had it, even a display one. I drove them nuts as 10 year old going there several times a week for months. I kept getting told the same thing they weren't allowed to sell the ones in the display case. Finally I conned my dad to go with me. He was told the same thing, except he noticed there were cars missing form the display case and asked to see a manager. Needless to say i got my red Jeep pick up. :-)
Dude, you have an amazing collection. I had so many of these in the 80s and 90s. I was born in ‘83 and I remember playing with those Ford LTD police cars. I had one with the blue and one with the yellow windows. I played with these cars for years! At 15:49, that red/gray Corvette was my favourite Matchbox. I remember my mom bought that after my dentist appointment! Fantastic video!
Wow love the collection would love to spend a day in that Museum 🤘 always injoy the videos very informational and enjoyable when ever I have a question about a Hot Wheel car I always go back to your dated videos. Love the Matchbox GT40s 🤘🤘
I love that you still have your childhood cars, mine are long gone but i can still remember all the ones i had..when i see them again i'm like oh yeah i had that..lol..great video, i could watch these all day.
Love that you're willing to hurt yourself (further) to entertain us but... hey, don't hurt yourself to entertain us!! LOL I'm right there with you on the whole moving thousands of cars just to gain an inch. Done it so many times and though the end results are worth it, it's taxing on the body and mind. Can't wait to see what hits the wall next!! Thanks for getting back on the vids... Yours are some of my favorites!! :)
I haven't even finished watching and I had to stop to say that I am watching this video with my mouth open the whole time!! Just know that you and Lamley were the ones that made me start my adult collecting.. I went try to be like you because I will go broke.. but I will have a section almost like one 1/4 of your area. But either case, thanks for sharing your awesome collection!
Wow. What an amazing collection. I do also collect hot wheels and matchbox. I have no clue how many I have.. My older ones are loose but as I became a true collector I kept them in their boxes. I haven't bought any new ones in awhile. There's still a lot of classic ones I want first.
I wish Mattel kept Matchbox simple and realistic with all of their cars too. They got repetitive and awkwardly colorful for many models now. Same with Hot Wheels. They changed a lot. I love the stuff from the late '80s and early '90s.
Recognised lots of these that i owned as a child,i had forgotten about the mirror wheeled editions, they were awesome!,you have an excellent collection, good luck building it further.
I have several matchbox cars, mostly played for years, my favourite is the firetruck that looks cool, blazebuster n22 from 1975, only missing the deployable stair. Congratulations on your collection, amazing.
Your videos are always amazing, to watch the evolution of your basement display room and the items displayed in it! Now in a duplex w/basement I'm going to try a display, thanks for the inspiration!
I love seeing the evolution of your collection and the way it is displayed over the years. Great to see the MBX cars and note a few variations of castings I like to collect but am currently missing - good to know! Thanks buddy, all the best =)
Man thats an awesome Matchbox collection! I've been getting into Matchbox both old and new lately. I would love to see a wall showcasing the evolution of your Hot Wheels collection, working from the beat up to near mint.
I live in England and get a lot of matchbox cars. Most of my cars are from the 50s and 60s but do have some from the seventies and eighties and nineties. There my favourite make. Love any!!!!
Finally!!!! Thank you, I have been waiting this video since I got subscribed to your channel (like two + years ago). I just noticed that you have less variation than than the hot wheels. Even do, its a nice data base of the ones I am missing in my collection (I collect matchbox from late 80’s and early 90’s). Great video man!
Really nice video brother, and I would love to see whatever you put up, cuz like you said, it's all going to go up eventually, I started collecting with the red Pontiac with the opening doors in the 60s and and then I inherited cars from the 50s that my father had used on his train layout
Loved Checking out the Matchbox Vans you had on the Wall. Saw the Newer Brown/Bronze "Locksmith" Chevy Van & Immediately Starting Hunting for it on EBay. LOL. I Don't have that one. No Luck though. Also Enjoyed Seeing the Dodge Magnums & Scion XB's (both Casting i Collect.) More i am Missing Too! 🤣
I have that happen to me all the time while I watch collectors videos, including yours especially with all those cool Boogie Vans. No luck for me either on ebay though, only a few came up and sellers asking the moon for them. I thing the Locksmith van was part of a 5 pack or 10 pack, if that helps
I literally acquired a cougar villager 48 hours ago. Before I even watch this video. I must have a good eye. 😁 I was a little taken back by your gray hair you have a young face. No worries I'm probably heading towards that too 😂
Cool. Aren't you thinking of mounting some sort of a clear plastic cover on the shelfs? I'm just thinking of cleaning up the mess when something happens...
I don't seem to have an issue with dust due to the cars being in a basically unused portion of my home, I also use high quality furnace filters, vent filters, and never open the windows in the HW Museum. It is also closed off from the rest of my home with doors
I remember all my matchbox cars: Greyhound bus, Scammell pipe truck, Aircraft carrier, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, Citroen CX break, Ford Cortina, AMX Javelin, Ford model A, Mercedes 350 SL...
6:17 Matchbox made a Snow Trac, but that's not it. The Snow Tiger is a Tomica. Also the tires were plastic on the tractors and race cars, not rubber. They were discontinued because they didn't stay on.
My God!!!! If I ever entered this room I’d have thought that I died and I’m in heaven. This is awesome. You have a 6 lane racing setup as well. I do too. It pretty takes up the entire distance of my basement. You should charge entry. I’d pay to see this room. I’ll say it again….AWESOME
Matchbox were my favorites when I was a kid (above Majorette or Hot Wheels). Great quality and details, suspension (as opposed to Hot Wheels), and a lot of US cars I was seeing only on television (I live in France). Unfortunately Matchbox was pulled out from France when it was bought by Mattel in the late 90's.
Hello there bud, Well this is the first time for me coming across your channel but thanks to a facebook friend of mine who had one of your video's on their profile that right away it caught my attention & I just had to watch it as I could see that you had to say the least an extensive collection of MatchBox..... While I am not the biggest fan of MatchBox I still like them as they were my first toys cars of this type that I played with while growing up.... Overall though I do love HotWheels more than anything probably like many people but I must say this was a very interesting tour & I actually noticed a couple of your MatchBox collection that I also still have till this day as we are both the same age...... Your collection of everything you have is quite simply AMAZING and I love how organised it all is and just how you've made that whole basement area as your display piece for something that is truly a VERY big passion for you..... Without question I'd loveeeeee to see your collection in person, But as I am from Australia that's probably impossible to do so....As such after just this one video I am now subscribed to your channel & will watch many more previous videos that you've done and look very much forward to seeing what you show next.... Cheers bud :)
Thank you very much! I really do appreciate comments and yours is top notch. While my passion would lead me to fill my house regardless, I do enjoy very much sharing it with collectors such as yourself from near and far, because it is so cool to hear everyones story and common interest in these shiny colorful little cars that created such great memories for us years ago, and continue to bring joy throughout life. Thank you again, and hope you enjoy my other videos!
I have many many old to recent die cast cars and I’m curious what type of storage containers you used for your display I really like the way you have done your room and I’ve been looking for a way to display that I like and your has stuck out to me the most
So many memories. I got a new Matchbox car every couple of weeks from pre-school years, we're talking early 1960s. I also inherited some of the very earliest Lesneys. I didn't quite have a complete set, but I owned most of them.

Being 38 myself.. I saw a lot of cars I recognized from my childhood. I always preferred Matchbox for their more detailed and realistic appearance.
Agree! Matchbox is better.
Matchbox is better
Absolutely
matchbox is more relaistic, and fun to collect... i don't know why they are a bit underrated than hotwheels..(i like both of them anyway)
It seems like the newer matchbox vehicles are more detailed compared to those 20 years ago
WOW!!!!!!!! SO MANY CARS! I LIKE OLD MODELS OF CARS!!!!!
one of the most amazing collections i´ve ever seen!!
Thank you!
Omg...I'm so jealous of your collection. I could stare at it all day. Pat on the back for you!
I Love Your Collection Of Both Hotwheels & Matchbox Together.. I Might Need To But Your Right It Is Fun..
Like to see your Matchbox Real Working Rigs over the years collection. Thanks for all you do!
Great collection I'm so amazed all the diecast wheels cars was so great fun.
People interested could pay a ticket to see all these, it really feels like visiting a diecast museum! I had a few of these 70s Matchbox models as a kid. I'd really like to see your Greenlight collection as i'm really into this brand the last two years or so. Thanks for this great tour!

Thank you for posting. I have so many fond memories. When i was a child I collected Matchbox cars from the lates 60's to the early 70"s. I see a lot of my favorites and a few that were very hard to find in the pre-ebay days :-)
True true! Ebay has made it easier to find those rare gems... it changed my life! LOL

And l only have about 500-600 Matchbox vehicles in my own collection...congratulations, that's how l d love to display my cars someday.
This his so cool. Lots of memories from my childhood. Even today they make some good, BASIC models. No crazy paint schemes or like Hotwheels.
Love the ambulances and cop cars from the 80's
Love that you're willing to hurt yourself (further) to entertain us but... hey, don't hurt yourself to entertain us!! Man thats an awesome Matchbox collection! I've been getting into Matchbox both old and new lately. I would love to see a wall showcasing the evolution of your Hot Wheels collection, working from the beat up to near mint.
50,000 thumbs up only from me ;)
What a gorgeous, massive collection. Awesome work buddy.
Thank you so much!!

Very nice never loose your inner child :)

I too love matchbox! My favorite would probably be the jag E type or the Ferrari berlinetta! But I love them all! Lesney was by far the best!!!!
What a collection!!! How much fun too look at. Ron
the word Awesome does not do justice to this collection :)
Thank you!
11:41 That Ambulance is a Corgi ;) Awesome collection btw!
Keep up the good work and the great vidios bud !!! Happy Holliday's to you and yours!!!
Love your set up 😍
Thank you!
Some of those cars have seen quite a few miles. One must wonder how many generations of kids played with them
Gotta Love Matchbox!
Really nice video brother, and I would love to see whatever you put up, cuz like you said, it's all going to go up eventually, I started collecting with the red Pontiac with the opening doors in the 60s and and then I inherited cars from the 50s that my father had used on his train layout
Nice, I'm sure you have got lots of nice old Lesney's in that case!

I literally acquired a cougar villager 48 hours ago. Before I even watch this video. I must have a good eye. 😁 I was a little taken back by your gray hair you have a young face. No worries I'm probably heading towards that too 😂
Dusting them all must be a nightmare.
Amazing collection!
Awesome collection!!!!
My first diecast cars where Matchbox the boxes where very cool
Dude, you are just the coolest Canadian I have seen.....aside from the guys in my all time favorite band, RUSH!
Thanks man! What a compliment!
Amazing!
Hot wheels and matchbox are priceless for their memories. There are no more kids being kids anymore so they they don’t want them.
I remember all my matchbox cars: Greyhound bus, Scammell pipe truck, Aircraft carrier, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, Citroen CX break, Ford Cortina, AMX Javelin, Ford model A, Mercedes 350 SL...
Superb work bro thumbs up.
6:17 Matchbox made a Snow Trac, but that's not it. The Snow Tiger is a Tomica. Also the tires were plastic on the tractors and race cars, not rubber. They were discontinued because they didn't stay on.
Bob Ross Yes that is a Tomica. I was curious about it too
Most of your old matchbox cars look like they need to be fully restored. :)
awesome collection of matchbox i see a variation of some that u have that i don't and vise versa
My God!!!! If I ever entered this room I’d have thought that I died and I’m in heaven. This is awesome. You have a 6 lane racing setup as well. I do too. It pretty takes up the entire distance of my basement. You should charge entry. I’d pay to see this room. I’ll say it again….AWESOME
One day not too far away I would like to set up a museum where fans of my channel and diecast are welcome to visit!
A few vintage Majorette cases would be great!
Coming soon, lots of requests from everyone here for Majorette. Happy to make that video!
Matchbox were my favorites when I was a kid (above Majorette or Hot Wheels). Great quality and details, suspension (as opposed to Hot Wheels), and a lot of US cars I was seeing only on television (I live in France).

Love the Lincoln Mark 3 I think it is!!!
Simply amazing thanks for vid
Thank you!
