Sorry about the 1-day delay. I didn't want to rush the final outcome and had to spend the extra day finishing up and perfecting some scenes. Hope you enjoy the video!
I'm enjoying it! I like the video. Keep up the great work!
no problem, if it makes the video better and youre prouder take all the time you need
this is the best video i have ever seen in my life on yt and im not kidding
Fuck this i like apex
About the steam vr thing, think about the amount of people with oculus quest and dont have or havent linked steam accounts, i mean i have a steam account but no working computer so i play my quest 1 and 2
I loved the good old days of just passing a controller to your friend and having fun and seeing your friends faces while you played.
I mostly blame covid
I remember one time I was playing a james bond game on xbox 360 at my mates house, selecting oddjob, and him just walking out of the room.
Danerade makes lonely people feel bad for 12 minutes and 41 seconds.

My biggest problem with the lack of local multiplayer games is the fact that online games don't last forever. Eventually they will die and lose their servers or communities essentially making the game worthless. With local coop you can still play with other people as long as you have friends but no one ever focuses on that anymore.
i bet SSBU service closure after 2026-2028
Splatoon is another game that will probably be obsolete once it's online is shut down, because that's basically all it's got. Sure it's got a story mode, but it's pretty much a tutorial for using your weapons properly.
@Duskool I don't even think the story mode would work since you need to be online to play offline content. Which is stupid.
yeah expect the origal halo xbox 360 games online are shutting down this december
so they only way you can play is through lan
@Boomboom 64 Well, Nintendo stil focuses a lot on local multiplayer.
The whole idea of having a sleepover and having 4 man splitscreen Call of Duty as a kid is a treasured memory. This whole "Ppl don't have friends irl anymore so Online is the future" is something I've been hearing and always disagreeing with. I miss screaming at the top of my lungs when 2 of my bros were botha kill away from winning the free for all. Times have changed:(
People don't have friends anymore lmao. I have like 2 and neither of them play video games. Online gaming gave me the ability to meet and have fun with people that share a love for the same games as me.
@@EmergencyChannel you mean YOU don’t have friends anymore…?
That moment you realize a teenager who makes videos in his spare time is more entertaining and has better edits than most Adult UA-camrs.
to be fair, he has more free-time than most adults do dye to jobs

I believe the physical nature of local multilayer inherently changes the dynamic of the game, especially when the game wants to be played that way. Online multilayer is sometimes necessary and has its perks, but it can feel less connected.
Yeah, is just... Not the same
Another reason why local play will never die entirely is because some games, due to their nature, just aren't built for stable online play. Fighting games, for instance, require an extremely fast and stable connection to play even somewhat decently online, and the tiniest bit of lag translates into massive lag spikes, meaning these games are built primarily with local play in mind, and with online being thrown in for people who don't have anyone to play with.
Man, your content is SEVERELY underrated.
Truee
Severely is a large understatement
Definitely

Your pfp scares me
"Always believe in starfruit" - Shyguymask (2:23)
ah yes "always believe in Starfruit" , literally top reasons I used Starfruit in our last round
I never would have known my friends would enjoy Mario Tennis Aces so much if it didn’t have local multiplayer. We played that game for hours on end one day and were cracking up the whole time
Dude that bit with Bowser’s laugh got me sentimental because if DS Bower’s Inside Story nostalgia
The most "local multiplayer" i have been is playing in a minecraft survival world with my friends who i have never met once (except 1 guy) and being in a vc with them
Dude your editing has improved so much in the past year. Jesus
Title: “The Death Of Local Multiplayer”
Me: Huh I wonder why
Simple, people rely too much on servers
@@ericwijaya2119 I meant because of the pandemic and people can risk getting the rona by just visiting friends houses
@@ericwijaya2119 Dumbass level take right 'ere. "People rely too much on servers." What is this even supposed to mean?
@@sir_granite3616 rather than going to others' houses, they just use online.
People nowadays cant seem to be bothered to walk to a friends' house, even though it's freaking next door, so what is their solution?
Simple.
Online.
@@ericwijaya2119 Ok Boomer
There is NOTHING better then inviting two friends over and doing a round of Mario Party.
Or 100% oj
me and my best friend kinda noticed this whenever we used to hangout we'd play local coop but now it's been harder for us to find local coop games
the memories...
I miss local multiplayer because you can interact with people face to face thats the beauty of life.
This video is so well made!!!! Good job Dan
After scrolling through the comments… Everybody in this audience definitely needs to look at multiplayerlocal because it goes live in a few weeks! There will be hardcore blitzing of flyers with QR codes to get people on there and get this fire started
Whst is it? Ive not heard about it
Holy smokes, you uploaded just as I finished watching your Origami King video. Swift.
3:59 cries in max lvl
I cannot comprehend how you always manage to squeeze amazing editing and a hilarious and informative script into every video
I feel like a combination of Local Co-op (Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2), Local Multiplayer (Mario Kart Wii), Online Co-op (like in Shovel Knight) and Online Multiplayer (Standard FPS but also stuff like Mario Kart Wii multiplayer but online) would be a really cool thing.
Would be cool, but no developers would be pouring this much time and money for some features that most won't use and won't help the game market better (Okay that's partially a lie, because listing that your game has all four of those things will in the least intrigue customers).
There's literally zero new local multiplayer games on pc, and that saddens me because I can't play anything with my cousins
My best split screen memories was when me and my older brother played halo 3 on Christmas. It was my first halo but he played ce and 2. We beat it the same day.
I remember playing mortal kombat and the old Dragon Ball games with my cousins and friends and screaming like a total b*tch, the tension, emotion, adrenaline, it was unique, time has passed, and the memories fade away....
I love your topics and channel in general, Keep it up! :D
Miss the early Nintendo Wii U games they were so fun to play with people
Topic aside, it's wonderful that your editing is becoming increasingly better with each video you make.
YES A NEW VIDEO, WOOOOOOO
Local multiplayer is my favorite type of game, because I have a brother and we always play together.
Ik that feeling. Local multiplayer games from back in the day felt like they were meant for it. Now it's like games are designed for online and local is an afterthought. Look how they killed Mario Kart Battle Mode, the balanced Balloon Battle for online mode and got rid of the last man last man standing approach from the old games
@@lol-ih1tl Yeah ik and they forced everyone onto teams even if wanna play locally
@@lol-ih1tl Well when people say it's the best, they probably mean in terms of the racing. Even people who like Mario Kart Wii don't like the battle mode
great content from such an underated creator!

see you at 100k subs. Your content is great.
Bro i havent even watched one minute and i know your content is top tier!!!!! ONLY 400 VIEWS!!!!?!?!?
Your videos are extremely underrated.
Lets hope we are seeing the resurgence you mentioned. I doubt it but it would be very cool :)
Dude, you're a very talented writer!
This is why the ps2/Xbox/GameCube/Dreamcast generation will forever be my favourite era of gaming
Local multiplayer is the BEST way to play video games (Imo)
There’s nothing better than playing Smash with your friends (or in my case, family since I don’t have friends) and beating each other to oblivion, yelling and having a great time.
I remember playing Smash Ultimate with my cousin, and my sister’s boyfriend in Super Sudden Death. That was one of the greatest times I’ve ever had playing Smash.
gladly, me and some Friends have a tradition to meet up every 2 weeks at least once and just Play smash for 4 hours straight, it's amazing
I found it funny that call of duty (a major online multiplayer game series) still does split screen and you can do split screen online. Very cool
That feeling of playing with your brother on cousin on the demo island of minecraft was amazing
still this man needs more subs
"if you are playing bedwars in minecraft"

this is something that my college advisor told me something along the lines those indie developers will be the ones to make these local multiplayer games. I am an artist working on a game called "Broombot Battlegrounds" that is a couch multiplayer party game. Developing online multiplayer is a pain in the ass and we simply don't have resources to development resources to do networking or matchmaking. I am not advertising my game but i feel my bit of insight into this specific genre and why there seems to be a resurgence. I feel the indie scene is where the good portion of the game industry is held.
Seems weird seeing Danerade main King K Rool and not Bowser in SSBU (the mini montage near the beginning)
bro nothing can ever compare to just getting together with the lads and goofing around on various games. Online just doesn't quite feel the same
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING UNRAVEL 2, Seriously though that game is underrated as h e l l along with the first I seriously want it to be revived or something
Funny how the halo infinite campaign thing aged
10/10 content man
2:43 that vid was nostalgic
I recently went back and played Salt & Sanctuary with my cousin by plugging in remotes in my laptop and plugging that into a tv with hdmi, and that shit was so much fun I feel link people missed this souls like gem.
honestly the one winged angel music in the intro fits well
I was expecting an Emp Lemon reference the second Dane said downward spiral.
Drinking game: every time there is a emplemon reference take a shot.
Indie-games has certainly been active supporting local multiplayer, and with indie games being multi-platform one could say that local multiplayer is thriving nowadays. Nintendo has in general always been a local multiplayer brand in my opinion, many of their first party titles nowadays have local multiplayer with up to 4 player in coop. I feel as though local couch multiplayer has got some kind of resurgence in later years.
Go Vacation was not just a party game, it was a masterpiece!!!
Went to the comments just to look for some go vacation praise lmaoo
*ME WHILE WATCHING YOUR VIDEO WHILE PLAYING APEX LEGENDS*
me: ouch.
Castle Crashers local with my cousins on PS3 years back was amazing
Danerade is kid friendly Scott The Woz
More love for this man
You need irl friends for local multiplayer which danerade has cause hes poaggers
That Shy Guy Mask match was a massacre
Wow well said
I’ll always miss when I was able to play games locally more often.
Calm down emplemon
I didn't play play FF7 but I like this music especially when it's consistent with the video or the subject
I like Apex legends.
Good video moment
I liked that part when you showed that you lost against skyguymask BTW i have a UA-cam channel. Ok it's BTW GREAT VID.
TheAppleCowProdigy video brought back memories
AIGHT YOU AREN'T TALKING SMACK ABOUT GO VACATION BRO THAT GAME BANGS
And yep here I am, I play local multi everyday with my brother
Man everytime me and my friend have sleep overs we cant play together instead we have to keep switching the controller when we die.
go vacation is a masterpiece. you wouldn't understand
Online is fun. But local is just a more fun experience. Even with friends online, local is more fun. I miss laughing with my friends at a birthday party with the xbox 360. :(
I really hope local multiplayer doesn’t go away in most games, or that it comes back alongside online multiplayer.
Mans really marked Rocket League as a local multiplayer game.
"Maybe pure graphics aren't the way to go"
*_Me playing StarCraft 1 for the 21st year straight_* -> "I concur"
There is no Mario Party
Suffer
I Remember when i was playing minecraft with my friend almost every day
Well local multiplayer requires friends so obviously as you would assume I don’t have any personal connection or nostalgia for local multiplayer
As a solo indie dev that focuses hard on local multiplayer I can pretty safely say that it's the focus on online play combined with the increase market of boardgames as well as local multiplayer being an on how they should be designed. Most local multiplayer games we get these days are heavily focused on a solo experience or a online experience, but not on a group experience. The reason something like Mario Kart work as a local multiplayer game is the ability to take victory from the person next to you, to stab them in the back or team up to screw someone else over all things you kinda miss and don't need in a solo or online setting.
The term I'd like to use in my native language, Dutch, and and that is not able to translate properly to English is "gezelschap spellen". Which is used mainly in relation to board games but is also very applicable to videogames, it roughly translates to "games played with company". And well, that's what is lacking in a lot, if not most, modern games that have a local multiplayer mode, they are made to be played in the company *OF* others, not *WITH* others. Or in more philosophic terms, being "together alone".
And even from a sheer business sense local multiplayer doesn't make much sense as a big focus of a given product, that is what gives more value for money a game you can play at any time or a game you can only play if you get some buddies together? Everybody that buys a game has time to play it alone, they can also easily find someone to play with online, but can they find the time to play it with friends or do their friends even want to play that game? Maybe.
(now the shilling, check my stuff out. my first game for my own business is nearly releasing and do some game design write-ups on my site including topics like this. If anyone is interested in any of that comment I'll give the deets)
Danerade is now making the rise and the fall of something videos
The only co-op I’ve ever done was when my brother and my sister used to play with me but now only my brother would play if he’s punished and my sister would make an excuse that I don’t let her play
Nowadays:it’s only my dads friends kids, my friends, or my cousins
this is why we miss browser games as they tend to have decent to amazing multiplayer games that me and my brothers can play together in our keyboards. good thing there are still stuffs like ssf2 out there :D
I was hoping Danerade would discuss the inbetween area, that is: LAN-multiplayer.
Picu Nicu has local multiplayer but you can’t play levels from the main game
You do realize that’s never going to happen with me in the world
A way out, it takes two. ANYONE
