I'll keep this short...I love, love, LOVE this tablet. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxLNmVocUk8tnSkwWIlYSNFzWRIaFTBuzS The picture quality is amazing and there are so many features that this technodino can't wait to learn! Yes, it should have been corrected, but we were only in country for a short period of time and I didn't want to run the risk of not getting a new one in time. Surely for the first few months they will take care of the existing issues that are widely spread such as 5.0.2, but in due time the S6 will be forgotten and left behind. Regardless, it is the mentioned battery life that I know for certain will make regret the purchase in the long haul, which is realistically about a year.
1 year of normal charge cycles shouldn't impact the battery performance in a year if that is what you mean. Otherwise you imply you will get tired of charging it often? I agree, it is tedious and exhausting. I cannot blame them for releasing the phone with the latest available lollipop for the tech world would shun Samsung for waiting till 5.1 . It will be 3-6 months realistically until they provide an update assuming carriers don't hold back. Another reason I went with Nexus.
Its not its not necessarily the hassle of having to charge the phone daily. But more of being in a real world situation where you are suffering the worst case scenario and your phone is nearly depleted because it was decided to play a seldom video game on the off chance. The Nexus series and what it offers is how other phone manufacturers should treat their flagship devices. My strongest buying points in purchasing would lie in the camera, fluidity of the software, reliant updates to keep to speed and battery life. But unfortunately Nexus devices always tend to pay little attention to the camera software.
Richard Richard Yeah 5.0.1 was buggy as hell on my Nexus 5 with abysmal performance. Constant stutters, lags, background apps being unnecessarily killed, homescreen launcher redraws, app crashes etc. 5.1 is much, much better - but the infamous memory bug is still lurking there. I've had the phone completely bog down on rare occasions with 5.1 but it was a pretty much constant occurrence in 5.0.1. Lollipop's gradually getting where it needs to be, but still needs a bit more refining. The memory leak/background app killing bug needs to be obliterated once and for all.
I really enjoy the detail that goes into each Pocketnow review. The combination of the Michael's awesome voice and the diverse shots of the phone always make it an enjoyable watch!
Phillip Pugh Hell yeah bro! You will love the Galaxy S6. The Galaxy S6 is the best designed and most technologically advanced smartphone in the industry, period.
Nice Gordon Lightfoot reference there Michael. Looks like a great device, yet I feel something about it is lacking... I'm happy with my Moto X 2014 either way.
Is it just me, or does the "No SD cards or battery replacing" thing start to seem like not such a big deal the more you see it? I went from "Lol fuck that phone" to "Hmm.. I kinda want this now"
Yea I agree with you guys x) I was on the edge about the battery, since my S3's charging port busted, but I've managed to get away with charging the battery in an external charger. So my hopes is just that the charging port is just a bit tougher .-.
Lol that's what I said when I saw the video of S6 but I held the phone and everything changed. I want this ✆ now even though doesn't have ex battery & ex storage 😁
Nexus 5 user here. I've taken to carrying around small external USB power banks with me when I'm away from charger for a while. The 32GB memory is manageable but for my next phone I'll probably go for 64GB or 128GB, which will be plenty for me. The Galaxy S6 is tempting me but I'm trying to wait until the end of the year to see whether Google puts out a refreshed Nexus 5. If not I'll get whatever is best at that point in time.
Frankie Hiltz It's not just you. At first, I didn't even wanna hear about this phone. Then I actually started thinking and realized that I never needed more than 32 GB on my phone, thanks to Dropbox, and I NEVER EVER replaced, or had a spare battery. So I just decided to order this, fuck it. Wanted Note 4 at first, but better screen, better camera, better processor, better TouchWiz... Not worth it anymore.
Man people are seriously underestimating the amount of people that don't like the fact that their no sd card or removable battery. When you download app and take a lot of pictures and videos and download music all that slows your phone down. At least with and sd card you can put all you music and video, pictures, and even some apps on to your ad card so it won't clog your phone down.
***** I remember I had the motorola photon back 2011. I ordered 2 extra batteries from amazon I would leave out and be gone all day when I got home I would still have one whole battery that wasn't used. And the batteries were thin I could put three of them in my side pocket and I feel them. I have a lg g2 now with a non removable 3000mah battery but I have to carry around a ravepower battery pack and it's kind of annoying. I just don't see how people don't care about this. So you got a carry around your charger everywhere you go and look for outlet. Plus companies like samsung and htc still for some reason refuse to a 3000mah or higher in their phones. Im not talking about phablets just the flagship s series and the htc one series phones.
***** wrong I have a lg g2 no sd card slot and my phone was running slow with all the pictures and music I had and apps it was slowing it down. I did a reset and it boots up faster when I turn it off and on it cuts on faster. When I had my samsung s3 I had all my pictures ,video of family , apps and all my saved music on my sd card and because of that my s3 never slowed down or froze or anything.
Great review as always Michael. First review that I have seen that mentions app crashes and other software issues. Glad to see Samsung finally have a great flagship.
Dude, Michael. Your reviews have always been great, and they seem to just keep getting better. This is probably my favorite review from you. I can't stand Samsung smartphones, yet I was completely enamored with this review. Seriously thought anout buying one. LOL! Bravo my friend, keep up the good work!
Guys I didn't understand why you're so hard with the S5. I have the s5 and in my opinion is an amazing phone. Fast, reliable, and to me looks great. Yes the s6 might have another feeling but the S5 is great too.
I understand that... But my point is that now almost everyone is saying that S5 pretty much is crap... When is not... is a great smartphone just now the older version of something well made
leonardo zepeda I think the main reason for the praise is that Samsung finally addressed (or improved) some issues people have been complaining about for years (build, Touchwiz). Even though many didn't necessarily have a problem with the plastic before
wade18 the plastic was one of the best parts. I can drop my s5 from like 12 feet onto concrete and have a good chance it is unbroken. the s6 will be hard to match that from 3 feet.
Got to play with the S6 and S6 Edge. As a Note 4 owner, the S6 Edge is so wonderful, it's the only phone I'd considering downsizing to. It was the black (blue sapphire) color, and I was pleased to see that fingerprints didn't show nearly as bad as in the videos I've seen. TW was buttery smooth and the screen is just gorgeous! The curve looks really cool with everything you do. Viewing pics wasn't weird at all. The edge options were kind of cool, too. Easily the best phones of the year, bar none. CrApple and HighTechCrap can fuck off!
The Note 5 is going to be twice as amazing and I would bet end up being the phone of the year. This was a great evolution for Samsung. the Note 5 will benefit and improve on whats learned from the s6.
No no man don't blame android for Samsung's lag and app crashes. HTC's flagships never lag and rarely ever crashes apps. Nor does the Sony Xperia Z series. No no don't blame 'Android phones' for Samsung's mistakes.
Not many Xperia's are running 5.0.2 or higher right now, which is where the complaints come from. And unless you own an M9 you can't make the argument for HTC either.
But Michael didn't specifically relate the lagging issue with the latest software. He related it with 'Android' in general. But if he had, I would agree with you. Although I own an Xperia z3 running android 5.0.2 and it works just like it did on KitKat.
***** I own the One M8 and have never had an app crash, or home screen redraw for me since the Lollipop update. Also since a recent HTC Playstore update, RAM management has also improved.
Let me tell you why micro sd is superior to internal storage: In my country with the current exchange rate, the S6 32 gig model costs 821 dollars. The 128 gig model is 1210 dollars. The 32 gig model + a 128 gig sd card= 160 gigs of storage for 963 dollars. See? They ONLY dropped micro SD because they want more money. There is simply NO REASON AT ALL NOT TO INCLUDE A MICRO SD SLOT OTHER THAN WANTING MORE MONEY. Micro SD is superior to internal storage and anyone with a brain can see that. More storage for less money. And if the S6 had a 16 gig model, it would be 144 gigs with the SD card for about 150 bucks less. So you would pay 600 bucks and get more storage than the 1200 bucks model. And you can tell me that internal storage is faster, but that's another money bullshit. If manufacturers would start making storage as fast as they can possibly make them, they would cap out at around 400 mb/sec for sd cards. Yes, internal storage COULD go further, but at that point, it simply doesn't matter.
High quality sd cards r as expensive as higher variants.. And google doesnt allow installing apps to sd card anymore.. And it cause the phone to lag on long term.. Not really a big deal
***** Google doesn't have to allow installing apps to SD. Custom ROMs allow it just fine, I don't give a shit about how stupid Google is. It's once again, money. Google also makes more money by doing this, so they give other companies a reason to get more money. It's still stupid, pointless, money whore and sd cards are still superior, but there is A LOT of money involved in not using them.
***** 16 gigs is enough, but a 16 gig phone usually only 12 available. I personally use about 20, so my example really was just an example, not my real world usage scenario.
ok custom roms is sth very different.. i do now but wont when i buy the s6.. the quick camera is a killer feature that will make me stick to the stock rom
***** Well, some custom ROMs allow you to set actions for long press and double press. And The reason I don't buy Samsung is Knox. It makes rooting and flashing stuff stupidly difficult.
I have heard rumours about the Note 4 getting the S6 UX with the Android Lollipop 5.1 update. Thats going to be awesome, considering the Note 4 is already a fast and premium phone. It has been updated to Lollipop already but the 5.1 is going to bring an even more refined UX experience. Surprise me, Samsung.
I will. With a screen on time of only two hours I will be avoiding this. The only reason I'm ditching my S3 is because the battery is showing its age and the SD card slot is having issues. If the SD card slot was fine I would just buy a new battery and hold out for something better. Almost everything is better about the S6 over the M9 but the sound, battery life and processor. Battery life and good sound are important things to me.
I've got My s6 edge in gold and I absolutely love it (its way better than any iphone coming from a previous iphone owner) it's screen is amazing and its camera takes great pictures
Buggy and laggy, the reason why I will never permanently switch to Android. It's too bad, this is a nice looking phone. I have tried so many times but always seem to go back to the iPhone. It's so consistent and always just works. Hope it sells well though, competition is always good for everyone.
i've gotten bored of the iPhone software and hardware. This is why i want to switch to samsung galaxy S6/Note 4. In my opinion, i think they are great flagship phones.
miamicanesfan01 Switched to Android 3 years ago from iPhone and couldn't be happier. I still have an iPhone for work, and I only use it for work email. My Note 3 is neither buggy nor laggy. Sorry you had a lesser experience.
Right, looking to get the S6 but my only concern is battery life. What's the battery life like in a day with medium usage which includes messaging such as WhatsApp, internet surfing, Instagram, Snapchat, etc? These would be used throughout the day and perhaps some UA-cam as well - would love to hear everyones real life experience.
Well one thing i see from the video is software problems. My question is does this happen with a international version with no carrier bloat as much? Then One thing i don't get is why Samsung removed water resistance? Wouldn't it be easier to make the GS6 water Resistance because the back is sealed and not removable like the GS5, it would be nice to have that, for that one unlucky time in the year or 2 you own the phone.
I dont really mind the non removable battery cuz people now bring along powerbanks. But what really bugs is that models with more memory is more pricy. Its cheaper to have an expandable storage.
Good thing I'll still be using Go Launcher EX on this baby; been waiting on my platinum gold preorder for a few days. Any Galaxy fan will be excited for this phone, save for the low battery life and the app crashes. Hopefully there will be remedies for that; at least the phone will charge very fast to make up for less battery longevity. Doesn't sound too good considering we can't remove the battery to begin to if we ever need to replace it completely, but it can't be THAT bad. Only time will tell -- thank you for the unbiased video, Michael!
I don't understand why Pocketnow hasn't yet got even a million subscribers! They deserve the most subscribers for a tech channel because they're the best!
I'm not feeling the S6 mainly because it doesn't have MicroSD slot\Replaceable battery. I'm not the type that can go buy a new phone when it comes out and usually over the long haul batteries wear down and you will download more than you think you will initially. i'm disappointed that Samsung listened to tech press complaints of it having a "cheap feel" especially when majority of the people buying it won't leave the carrier without a "plastic cheap feeling" case to protect it from drops. Hopefully, the new Note will keep the "Function over Form" principles.
here's something that I just found out. if you go into the google now settings and change your language to English(UK) ...when Google now talks back, it has a pretty cool accent :)
I think a micro SD card slot wouldn't be hard to put in considering its how small the slot is. It's far cheaper than flash storage-many people can't afford the memory they need when buying phones without the slot.
I don't know if this applies to the S6, but with my old S4 I could disable the backlights for the capacitive buttons so that they never turned on. It's should be in the settings.
Great video, loved seeing the sights of home for a change.. I have a Note 4 as my own unit. my company is sending me the 6. I look forward to testing it around town. keep up the great videos! Kudos..
@Michael you can turn off the key in the power saving mode while reading in the dark, that what I do with my note 4 and I'm sure samsung included that option in the s6 as well.
Odd, I got the AT&T version and its working extremely well the battery is actually better than people have said it was going to be, and I have only run into a problem with one app crashing.
Well right now I am feeling like this is not the best phone ever :-( I wished you had talked about how to upload videos to UA-cam or how to send a video text without having to trim your video, and then trimming it makes it blurry and the Galaxy S 6 it does not have a UA-cam share app... it comes with a UA-cam app where you can go on UA-cam and look at other videos, but when you try to upload a video to UA-cam there is no app when you hit the share button so now I'm feeling a little confused think I'm going to take this phone back to the store.....
You can get a capacitive button light app, to set duration of these lights, or even set them always off. Search google play store. The app has no permissions
Own the phone, gets warm after a lot of video streaming (UA-cam) and when quick charging. And even when it gets warm it isn't uncomfortable to use and it doesn't slow down performance.
I still bought the note 4 this morning. I still want that expandable storage and extended battery switching. Well i admit that the s6 is the best looking smarthphone of 2015
CAN THE GALAXY S6 ACTIVATE ON SCREEN BUTTONS? LIKE ON THE ONE PLUS PHONE?? I NEED THIS FEATURE SO BADLY, I CANT STAND BUTTONS ANYMORE ON THESE BIG SCREENS!
At first glance realizing that this phone did NOT have a MicroSD slot.. I can handle not having to swap out the battery, however the lack of storage worried me.. But Lo and Behold, T-Mobile offered me an upgrade to the Galaxy S6 128 GIG Model with ZERO down, and I was sold.. With the Latest DOJ7 Update to Lollipop, no app crashes, my battery is better and I was originally going to get a Nexus 6P, but after looking and playing with this device.. It was an easy convincing...
The detail and the English used is amazing in this review. Love it.

DECEMBER 2022!!!!!!!!!!!! NOSTALGIA
Nice Gordon Lightfoot reference there Michael.
Looks like a great device, yet I feel something about it is lacking... I'm happy with my Moto X 2014 either way.
As always, the fairest and most comprehensive video review comes from PocketNow..Good job team!
Is it just me, or does the "No SD cards or battery replacing" thing start to seem like not such a big deal the more you see it? I went from "Lol fuck that phone" to "Hmm.. I kinda want this now"
Frankie Hiltz my sentiments exactly! especially now that there's a day one 64 GB variant
I've been using my S6 for 4 days and I'm loving it. Highly recommended
It's funny because SD cards are exactly what slow your phone down, not the phone's in-built flash storage.
Cloud buddy,cloud
MsMonster128 that cloud don't help you if you don't have good internet connection.
Great review as always Michael. First review that I have seen that mentions app crashes and other software issues. Glad to see Samsung finally have a great flagship.
Is this the new Iphone?
Yup and apple switched to Android with this one
Troy Nguyen thats not funny you're just being clueless... samsung took the design and made it even better just like what iphone 6 took from the m8...
kram !! we know we're just joking about it. Just like you did when Apple took the design of m8
Who is buying this awesome smartphone in 2016 ? :)
I bought it June 1st. :-)
got it. :)
I am waiting for it to arrive! Swapping from iPhone 5 :D
Jian Maniti is it a nice phone?
+Edgerrin Anderson yep. Really nice. It can still compete with other phones that are released this year very well.
This was most undoubtedly the most positive review I've ever seen on this channel
Even though many didn't necessarily have a problem with the plastic before
fightnight14 s5 is even better since the s6 came out. The s6 is almost a waste of time.
wade18 the plastic was one of the best parts. I can drop my s5 from like 12 feet onto concrete and have a good chance it is unbroken. the s6 will be hard to match that from 3 feet.
vcostor Exactly. I saw a drop test with the S6 edge and I'll just say you DEFINITELY need a case for it haha
Khemistry Galaxy S6 = High tech.
iPhone 6 = low tech.
The Note 5 is going to be twice as amazing and I would bet end up being the phone of the year. This was a great evolution for Samsung. the Note 5 will benefit and improve on whats learned from the s6.
This is clearly the best gs6 review i have watched. Brilliant MICHAEL FISHER
I'm a proud owner of the nexus 5, and I can attest to the occasional jank and crash since lollipop. 5.1 made it better, but not by much.
Rizwan Basir hey I have a Xperia z3 too! when did you get your update to 5.0?
***** I own the One M8 and have never had an app crash, or home screen redraw for me since the Lollipop update. Also since a recent HTC Playstore update, RAM management has also improved.
This is like the best review of a phone I have seen in my life lol. Well done man!
I'm with Windows Phone, but the Galaxy S6 is making a strong case to switch (I prefer the edge though)
Fantastic review as usual. Great shots, cuts and edits, and overall great coverage of all the key features. Thanks!
When Sony used glass .. meh. When Samsung did it....Wow Amazing
Govind Pavan The glass is a horrible idea.
sony still uses glass
***** yes they do
Govind Pavan
glass is the only reason i goed with the note 4 glass back is fucking stupid idea
***** Everybody has their opinions and BTW its "went" not "goed".
Surprise me, Samsung.
who is going to buy a HTC now?
No one :p
***** S6 stole all our money, nothing for m9
Me I still puffer the whole eco system but s6 is making it hard .lol what ever is cheaper
already did. I still think it's a better phone despite what the masses have to say about it.
Best reviewer out there. My new go-to for phone reviews. Great job Michael.
Man that occasional lag wasn't expected?!
Anish Somawar nope, but thanks to Android 5.0 it happens, thats why everyone has 5.1 and 5.2 which lag is non existent
I was using CM11 and the performance was flawless but 5.0.2 crapped my experience
Masterincommander 5.1 on a nexus 5 and 7 is still piss pooradd touchwiz and you have even worse
I've got My s6 edge in gold and I absolutely love it (its way better than any iphone coming from a previous iphone owner) it's screen is amazing and its camera takes great pictures
Ali Kazi Agree!
Buggy and laggy, the reason why I will never permanently switch to Android. It's too bad, this is a nice looking phone. I have tried so many times but always seem to go back to the iPhone. It's so consistent and always just works. Hope it sells well though, competition is always good for everyone.
Ive been using android for 4 years now, and i have never had an real crash, and with my 4 phones, i almost never had bugs
Try a HTC One M8 or M9. Their devices are the quickest and slickest in everyday use. Samsung wish their UI was as fluid
i've gotten bored of the iPhone software and hardware. This is why i want to switch to samsung galaxy S6/Note 4. In my opinion, i think they are great flagship phones.
miamicanesfan01 i use HTC M8 and i never had any lag and bug so far ! , sense ui is perfection .
miamicanesfan01 Switched to Android 3 years ago from iPhone and couldn't be happier. I still have an iPhone for work, and I only use it for work email. My Note 3 is neither buggy nor laggy. Sorry you had a lesser experience.
The app crash issue can be remedied by a factory reset, this issue is common after carrier updates.
VintageRKO cheaper yes, that's why i got my 64gb card but they are so slow...
Can't wait to get mine!
I don't understand why Pocketnow hasn't yet got even a million subscribers! They deserve the most subscribers for a tech channel because they're the best!
Great Vid, michael! Thanks for putting in the time to release polished reviews.
I'm not even a Samsung fan but that navy S6 looks very tempting
I love your reviews.. You always manage to review the elements I really want to know about.
This is the best review for the Galaxy s6!...and Android Authority is my favorite phone channel
Why did Michael say to check their full review for more info on battery life? Is this not the full review?
I think a micro SD card slot wouldn't be hard to put in considering its how small the slot is. It's far cheaper than flash storage-many people can't afford the memory they need when buying phones without the slot.
Getting this as a warranty replacement device since T-Mobile ran out of G4's. Hoping those app force closing errors are fixed.
Kudos..
Anyone know that film/show clip at 2:20 and what its from at all?
Hey Michael, why don't you post the score for the reviews anymore? No 8/10 or 9/10 or 9.5/10?
@Michael you can turn off the key in the power saving mode while reading in the dark, that what I do with my note 4 and I'm sure samsung included that option in the s6 as well.
you can actually disable the 2 lights at the bottom in the settings
Just got a refurbished one for 70 dollars. Amazing how cheap it is now
You. Make. The. Best. Reviews.
Odd, I got the AT&T version and its working extremely well the battery is actually better than people have said it was going to be, and I have only run into a problem with one app crashing.
Well right now I am feeling like this is not the best phone ever :-( I wished you had talked about how to upload videos to UA-cam or how to send a video text without having to trim your video, and then trimming it makes it blurry and the Galaxy S 6 it does not have a UA-cam share app... it comes with a UA-cam app where you can go on UA-cam and look at other videos, but when you try to upload a video to UA-cam there is no app when you hit the share button so now I'm feeling a little confused think I'm going to take this phone back to the store.....
this review though. wow. very unbiased! good job Michael!
I just love you reviews. You guys are so amazing to test a phone. Thank you.
just got mine, i noticed when you have powersave enabled, those two buttons at the bottom dont light up, for your dark room problem ;)
You can get a capacitive button light app, to set duration of these lights, or even set them always off. Search google play store. The app has no permissions
Beautiful review! Michael Fisher is the king.
Can most of these problems be fixed with software updates?
Michael, just love your reviews,
Great review! Nice work captain 2 phones!
Michael is the one who made me Buy this one.
Finally, I have been waiting for your review. Looks like I made the right choice of pre-ordering S6. Thanks Michael, a very well thought review.
love the pretty colours that the S6 comes in :)
Ι am not interested in the phone but i am watching the video while eating because i love your videos. Michael, you should make laptop reviews, too!
SimplyBergman he could review cheese and i'd listen...
How warm does this phone get? During games? Web browsing? Just normal use?
Own the phone, gets warm after a lot of video streaming (UA-cam) and when quick charging. And even when it gets warm it isn't uncomfortable to use and it doesn't slow down performance.
nice review especially the boston pics walk around
A good review, but early glitches /lag? Interesting to see how this holds up when you guys do "After the buzz"
So according to the "Tic Toc" philosophy, the stereo speakers will be on the S8?
Great review, as always! Wish I could get that beautiful white S6! Oh well. Maybe next year.
Forget about the device. I'm amazed by the way the review has been presented. ❤
i personaly love the old Galaxy ui from the Note 4 and earlier
Excellent review! Love the effort you put into it!
does anyone know why my s6 sends texts but the other people im sending them to receives them mich later than i send them
does those themes change call screens? Incoming and on call screens..
My nexus 5 camera also stops a lot, especially if you use the flashlight for a few minutes in a row
I noticed the blue version isn't available for pre order which makes me sad cos I wanted that one. Anyone know when the blue s6 comes out
I still bought the note 4 this morning.
Will the software enhancements on the S6 also be on the Note 4 eventually?
mr fisher ur the best reviewer i ever seen ...awesome
At first glance realizing that this phone did NOT have a MicroSD slot.. I can handle not having to swap out the battery, however the lack of storage worried me.. But Lo and Behold, T-Mobile offered me an upgrade to the Galaxy S6 128 GIG Model with ZERO down, and I was sold.. With the Latest DOJ7 Update to Lollipop, no app crashes, my battery is better and I was originally going to get a Nexus 6P, but after looking and playing with this device.. It was an easy convincing...
When will you do the After the Buzz on the S6 and S6 Edge???
If you could get the note 4 at a price 50 bucks lower than the s6. Which I can currently at T-Mobile. Which one is better at those prices?
Dany namou you could get a better deal than that for the note 4, but your main consieration shoud be the screen size.
