    Definitely! Decide on the length you want the skirt, double that measurement and add an inch for the knot. For example, if you wanted a skirt that is 16", you would double that (32") and add an inch for the knot - so you'd end up cutting your tulle 33" long.

    It would depend on the length you want the skirt to be. For each piece of tulle you would figure on doubling the length of the skirt plus one extra inch to tie the tulle around the waistband. For every 2" of waistband, you need about 5 pieces of tulle. Hope that helps!

  • @NashvilleWraps
    @NashvilleWraps  12 років тому

    Just untie the ribbon & retie around the waist! If you wanted a stretchy waistband, you could use elastic instead of a ribbon, but you would have to sew the ends of the elastic together.

  • @NashvilleWraps
    @NashvilleWraps  11 років тому

    Hi Melissa! It depends on the size of the tutus you want to make. :) Start with the waist size and length of skirt. To figure out the length to cut each piece of 6" tulle, double the length of the skirt plus one extra inch to tie the tulle around the waistband. So for a 10" skirt, you'd cut each piece 21" long, and for every 2" of waistband, use 5 pieces of tulle. For a 22" waist, that's 11 sections x 5 pieces=55 pieces. So 21" x 55 pieces=1155" or just over 32 yards of tulle. Hope that helps!

    Aww, that sounds adorable! A 6" skirt might be cute for a newborn - so you'd cut your tulle pieces 13" long - but that's just a guess. :) Let us know how it turns out!

    I think if you mist it lightly with water it should help with the wrinkles.

    I think the bow looks cuter at the back, actually - and yes, you're right, there might be a slight gap. But if you fluffed the tulle out more you wouldn't notice as much. Hope it works for you! :)

  • @NashvilleWraps
    @NashvilleWraps  11 років тому

    Hello! Just see some of the other comments for more info. I haven't made a dress before, but maybe you could simply make a much longer skirt?

  • @NashvilleWraps
    @NashvilleWraps  12 років тому

    i'm sure you could - the skirt would definitely be fuller if you used the same number of pieces. you might even be able to get away with using fewer pieces of tulle. :)

    I love it very nice and I love the idea of the ribbon instead of elastic. One question when making the tutus do you leave the knots in the ribbon when do making the tutu?

    • @NashvilleWraps
      @NashvilleWraps  9 років тому +1

      Hi Jesenia! I do leave the knots in the ribbon, to keep the tulle from sliding off. :)

    Nothing added to the ribbon, except on the ends to prevent fraying - the knots of tulle make the waistband kind of stiff. :)

    What measurements would you use for a newborn tulle tutu?

    • @NashvilleWraps
      @NashvilleWraps  9 років тому +2

      Hi Rachel! I've never made a tutu for a newborn, but I just did a quick search and it seems like a newborn waist size might be 12-14" and the skirt drop would be 4-6". Hope that helps!

    • @NashvilleWraps

      Hi Steph! The product I used on the ends of the ribbon is called Fray Block. I can't remember what size cutting mat I used though - I'm sure any mat that fits your workspace would be fine. :)

    I was wondering how many yards total of tulle did you use for the skirt?

    • @NashvilleWraps
      @NashvilleWraps  8 років тому

      +Life's Randomness I think it would be about 32 yards for this tutu (55 pieces x 21" each piece = 1155" total ÷ 36" in a yard)
