    After the success of my first video Taipei, Taiwan-5 Things You Should Know Before You Visit I felt there was definitely a demand for more videos about some of the little things, and some bigger things that would help someone get the most out of their stay in Taipei. So here we go!
    5.Women Cleaners in Men's Washrooms-Trivial for someone but shocking for others, particularly from Western countries where in many cases public washrooms are closed while they're being cleaned. Not in Taiwan and many other countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
    4.Taipei Is Very Safe-But be careful of the drivers! Now not everyone is a bad driver in Taipei but there is definitely an aggressive driving culture. Be careful of motorbikes everywhere, including in morning markets, on sidewalks, where they park.
    3.Currency Exchange-I hope I covered off everything. Also if you need to exchange cash for your next destination beyond Taiwan then change your cash at The Bank of Taiwan in Taipei. You'll save the NT$100 service charge at the airport counters.
    2.Busy Weekends-Something you should be prepared for. Of course hotel rooms are at a premium, and that's the case in most cities in Taiwan when most people on the island travel.
    1.I always get comments from followers, especially when I livestream, on how clean Taipei always looks. It's true, the city is very clean. Children in school learn from an early age to keep things clean and tidy by being assigned cleaning duties for their classroom. Janitors do not clean inside the classrooms in Taipei schools.
    Thanks so much for watching! Please let me know what kind of content you're interested in seeing on my channel. I'm always making travel plans for trips around Asia and I'd love to hear where you think I should travel next.

    Taipei and all its people are so kind and interesting, you have nothing to be careful before going. There’s nothing to be wary about. People are very good people. I’ve been there many times for months at a time. I love the place. Safe. Friendly. People speak English everywhere. Highly educated and respectful.

    Excellent, informative video about a wonderful place. When I came to Taiwan this past October, I regretted having exchanged currency at AAA (in the US)--I exchanged some more at the Taoyuan airport and found I received a better deal there. // I was also here in 1981, and cars were always honking their horns; however, during my recent trip I rarely heard a horn.

    • @iamjohnsaboe
      @iamjohnsaboe  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks very much Bob! I understand the traffic was horrendous up until the MRT started running in the mid 90’s. On exchanging money yes one of the few places where you don’t pay a penalty for changing money at the airport.

    • @iamjohnsaboe
      @iamjohnsaboe  9 місяців тому

      I lived in Taipei for 5 years. October will be hot but the rainy season will have ended. Only summer clothes are needed. Either of those locations are good for staying. Ximen is an entertainment district that many young people visit. I think your tweens would like that that more than Daan. Airport is a good place to exchange currency. No difference in rates.

    • @iamjohnsaboe
      @iamjohnsaboe  4 роки тому +2

      No problem! Days start out sunny usually in Taipei and then by the afternoon most likely there will be showers. Plan outdoor activities in the morning, indoor activities in the afternoon. Maokong gondola near the zoo usually shuts down in the afternoon because of wind and rain. You can’t stay outside too long without melting in Taiwan in August anyways. Download the Taiwan weather app for typhoon warnings and updates.

    I second the currency exchange. It’s a pain. Why is Taiwan so behind with this? thanks for pointing this out I had to learn the hard way. I was lucky that the bank teller was very helpful and was able to pull through for me. I needed my passport to exchange currency

      jake lee you are welcome! Yes I know it can be frustrating especially if you are used to the convenience of changing money in Southeast Asia. Perhaps it’s to curb money laundering but I’m not 100% sure of that. Hopefully getting the word out will help others. It’s just a matter of more preparation but with this info most everyone should be able to manage without too much inconvenience.
