    Big Sound Can Come in Small Packages...
    The MA5300 is proof that big sound can come in small packages. It is McIntosh's smallest solid state integrated amplifier - in terms of both power output and physical size - making it an ideal choice for smaller spaces or for someone just beginning to assemble a home audio system.
    It's a direct coupled amplifier that delivers 100 Watts per channel into 8 Ohm speakers or 160 Watts per channel into 4 Ohm speakers. New dual scale blue Watt meters give an accurate readout of power output for both 4 and 8 Ohm impedances.
    Highlights...
    2 x 100 watts of power amplification
    New & improved McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks
    Digital inputs are housed within an upgradable DA1 Digital Audio Module
    Analogue inputs include 4 x Line Level RCA, 1 x Balanced, 1 x MM Phono
    Digital inputs include 2 Coaxial, 2 Optical, 1 USB, 1 MCT input
    Quad balanced 8-channel, 32-bit / 192 kHz DAC
    Hi-Res digital music up to DSD256 & DXD 384kHz
    New & improved control microprocessors
    Full of McIntosh technological staples including Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Home Theater PassThru, High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD) and Power Control
    Connect virtually any source
    The MA5300's complement of 12 inputs includes 6 analogue inputs (4 unbalanced, 1 balanced and 1 Moving Magnet input for turntables) and 6 digital inputs (2 each coaxial and optical, 1 USB and 1 proprietary MCT for use with our MCT series of SACD/CD Transports).
    Upgradeable digital module
    All digital inputs are housed in the DA1 Digital Audio Module, which can be replaced by future modules as new digital audio technologies are developed.
    The DA1 comes with an 8-channel, 32-bit digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) used in Quad Balanced mode and supports up to DSD256 and DXD 384kHz for high-resolution audio playback. All inputs can be given user-friendly names to simplify system control and configuration.
    New McIntosh technology
    Included on the MA5300 are our McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks which are connected to advanced high current output transistors that eliminate warm-up time so you can enjoy the MA5300's complete sonic capabilities from the moment you turn it on.
    Powerful new control microprocessors have been used to improve overall system operation, along with some of the latest audio-grade circuit components to deliver the best possible sound. Bass and treble tone controls have been added to help you further fine tune your music to your personal preferences.
    Rounding out the MA5300 are time tested McIntosh technologies including Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Home Theater PassThru, High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD), and gold-plated speaker binding posts.

    Its funny when he uses the word cheap - these cost like nearly £7,000 in the UK lol

    • @TLPCHC
      @TLPCHC  4 роки тому

      Wow. 7000 GBP is $13,500.00 NZD. That is expensive, as this amp was $9,995 NZD when I did this video (5,200 GBP). It is McIntosh's cheapest amp though.... Their MA-9000 is $22,995 in NZD.

    Great unit. If you plan on getting bigger speaker it’s better to get the next level up or at least go to a store that has a trade in policy.

    Have you listened to the MA5300 with the XR50 bookshelf speakers? From what I have read, the XR50 seems to be an unknown gem, fed with enough power, 75+ watts. Thanks

    Can a subwoofer (or two) be connected to this integrated amplifier?

    • @TLPCHC
      @TLPCHC  Рік тому

      Not easily - but yes. The Pre-Out / In could pass through a suitable Sub. It does not have triditional pre-outs or sub outs that would make this easier. The MA-252 and above have a sub or pre-out

    I just reserved the MA 5200, the last one the dealer had. They had an open box unit for $700 US less, but i wanted a brand new never been used unit. Any difference in sound between the 5200 and the 5300 playing cd's and vinyl? Just curious.

    • @TLPCHC
      @TLPCHC  5 років тому

      The most obvious difference is the DAC modual. But there are small differences with the USB and control over the pre-amp (set up etc). Sonically, using the CD and Phono inputs I would not expect there to me a very obvious difference (IMO) but there are some small ones that 5300 owners will like.

    you do know packaging engineering is done by others, and been pretty much perfected for all products...From computers, to giant 80" tvs...AND better packaging engineering takes into account vol, for shipping costs, if you use unnecessarily large boxes you pay more for freight if you ship 1000 units, the trucking company charges weight, vol et, Packaging engineering is as much a science as anything else. The least amount of material, for protection required

    • @charlesmcguffy
      @charlesmcguffy 4 роки тому

      @glwalcott With decent floorstanders, you don't need a subwoofer. Alternatively, you can use the pre outs into an active sub.

    Looks beautiful. But the price is pretty high. Said only like 100 wpc on 8 ohms
    And 160 at 4 ohms. My speakers are 4 ohms 250 watts which i by amp. My receiver nad 7140with pre out and 2 nad 2200 amp that honestly push my speakers to limit and what i paid not even half what this thing cost. Is it worth spending this much money where you might need buy and amp for power hunger speakers????

    • @TLPCHC
      @TLPCHC  5 років тому +1

      There are many aspects to your question. Firstly Quality. Even a modest priced Arcam, Rotel or Moon would provide an overall better quality of sound compared to your old NAD. The McIntosh would sound astonishingly better (a true Holy S&%t moment). Then a question of wattage. No speaker ever responded badly to having a little more power.

    Why does this guy just toss the accessories, manuals and packing if as to say this is just garbage they don't mean anything and cost a premium to own. I know he means well but Optics just does not look well for me.

      have some fun sharing these great HiFi products, and chuck about the accessories and packaging to highlight that people often take things WAY too seriously in this industry. Nothing gets damaged. We are just trying to be relaxed about these video's. The product is always cared for, the packaging... well not so much.

      In the age of good steamers and lossless files... why would bluetooth be a good high end feature? And the specs on DAC chips only tell 1/5th of the storey. This amp sounds amazing, and well worth the money.
