Thanks sooo much mate I've had my Nokia 6 for about 7 months and I inevitably dropped it for the first time today it was in a wallet case so I didn't think anything of until I pulled it out later to answer a call and I noticed the screen wouldn't turn on I knew straight away damn it it's toast.
Id watched your stress test on the phone previously so I came back to watch the disassembly video
Figured I couldnt make things that much worse, i successfully removed the glass and LCD with out damaged and the plate that holds the battery and LCD clips in and found the LCD partially unclipped, reclipped it and the screen immediately turned back on as if nothing had happened reassembled it all, heated the remaining glue got it the re-adhere fixed for free!!! Thanks to this awesome video.

I can assure you this is a TANK! In all respects... 2 and half years going, proud of this one. I abused it a lot. It has fallen from my hand and pocket so many times, Some falls were so crazy that i was sure it wont work anymore when I turn it on, but no this beast carried on and is still going!
      Damage History
Home button gave way suddenly after a little more than a year, been adjusting with digital buttons since, but it's probably an easy repair as the video showed.
      Overheating while charging
Broke the screen, a line dividing the screen in the middle 5 months back (mind you this screen survived some very scary falls)
That too I believe it was probably because i had recently removed the cheap screen protector as it was causing touch issues.
Few artifacts have been poking their head after that
2 weeks back temporary vertical lines slowly builds up along the spot where bright white icons/labels seen. (This annoyed me the most.. probably time to change the screen but it is still usable.
A recent fall (an hour back) in a very weird angle, one third of the screen broken in lightening pattern. Again this was after I had to remove the screen protector as touch stopped working, but it was working fine after I removed it, and again this is after a lot of falls.y Touch still functional, Keyboard area visibility reduced. This is sadly the reason I came to this video.
      Updates are still coming
The comparatively older gen Processor is this phones weakest point i feel, its slowness is slowly creeping up. But nevertheless I would 10/10 recommend again over any phone at this price range as I am a huge fan of durability and love using devices to the brink of its death.

Quality built. Durable. Made to be easily repairable. Comes with stock Android and no bloatware. Nokia promises regular updates so don't expect planned obsolescence any time soon. Most importantly, a flagship device that is affordable and below $300. This is what smartphones should've been if Apple haven't brought the idea quality stuff has to be expensive and Samsung that you need to upgrade devices after 1-2 years because no more software updates will roll out. Finally a great alternate that isn't Chinese bs.

    • @acoffeewithsatan
      @acoffeewithsatan 7 років тому +3

My sister needs a new smartphone and she doesn't need anything expensive or that great so we're planning to get either a Nokia 3 or 5 for me (I'm more towards the 5 because I wouldn't need a new phone any time soon while the 3 lacks power; taxes in my country makes them quite more expensive and each of these is almost the same price of the following model) and I give her my one year-old J3 2016 that although being a great budget phone hardware wise and on par with the Nokia 3, Samsung screwed me up once more by releasing a new version instead of updating it's Android 5.1. I decided I wouldn't want to stick with Samsung anymore yet I don't want to get Chinese branded phones for safety concerns, neither paying a big buck for something to get either broken, stolen or obsolete after 2-3 years and I want to stay on Android (customization, not wanting to be mostly bound to Apple services and using options not available there make iOS not an option for me, Win10 mobile is dying and even MS gives more support to their apps on the competitors' OS rather on their own mobile OS, so it's far from being a viable option), making these smartphones by Nokia the perfect way to go.

So very glad, though not surprised at all, to see that Nokia has not forgotten how to make superbly built phones. All you kids these days need to listen to old farts like me who have been around cell phones for 25+ years - most companies back in the day, but IMO especially Nokia, actually cared about making products that could last more than 1 year...this whole pre-planned obsolescence and yearly product refresh trends are some of the most anti-consumer strategies contemporary tech companies employ.
There were many, many reasons why Nokia dominated the cell phone market for so long - which has allowed it to remain in the public consciousness even in today's iSheep/Samsung world. Nokia, like Blackberry, were both slow to react to changing market conditions and consumer preferences. But let's see how Nokia does this time around.
I for one am delighted to see Nokia back in the handset game. Makes perfect sense for them to dip their toes back into the consumer retail space with a well-built, par-quality mid-ranger. I can't wait to see what they can do with more high-spec devices - and I really hope to buy Nokia again.
cheers Zack! You just can't make a lousy vid can you? ;)

    • @joesatchton212
      @joesatchton212 7 років тому +6

Hey guys...thanks for replying :) Indeed, I think many people are hoping that Nokia can really make this comeback successful - I think the market is crying out for a new-old face in the game to upset the current status quo a bit. Especially for Nokia, who really enjoys very fond consumer memories from when they were basically the only game in town. So many years ago, but I honestly cannot remember too many Nokia devices that the public hated. Nokia always had a great reputation in the retail space.
Apple [and Samsung] have gotten way too fat over the years - high time for them to be worried a bit again, with Nokia's return. Really cool, interesting features are nice, but what use are they if they come inside devices that are perhaps too fragile for real-world use? I honestly think a significant portion of the consumer cellphone base value great battery life, durability, rock solid reliability and storage expansion as among their most important criteria for phones.
Hell, I don't care if Nokia puts 100 screws inside their phones. Just so long as the resulting product is rock-solid and truly durable.
Let's see how Nokia plays it.. :)
      cheers!

That glass already exists; There is glass that is harder than ceramic. The only problem right now is with manufacturing. The glass tend to cool down and stick to its mold very quickly, which makes manufacturing it on a large scale almost impossible. Recently a group of Japanese researchers were able to make the first slab of that hard glass using "air sheets." But the process is expensive. If you can figure a way to mass manufacture this glass without having it stick to its mold then call me. We will become billionaires together :D

The Apple "Geniuses" are the people that work in their retail stores which repair broken Apple devices... They have nothing to do with the people that actually design the devices, Blame Jonny Ive.

Aaron Doe I'm very aware of who the "geniuses" are my friend thanks for trying. I was actually referring to the fact that everyone at Apple call themselves "innovators" "geniuses" and so on. I think that the "geniuses" name for those employees is a little over the top as well... they are regular people that sometimes don't even know what they're talking about. Thanks again for the correction in such a classy way 👌

Agreed!!! Up until MS took over, I was very satisfied with each and every single Nokia device to come in my possession... and then along came Microsoft with the desperate attempt at rescuing their mobile platform... Not only did they fail, but they also took the proud Nokia down with them! I'm really exited to see what else HMD have prepared for us in the future cos if they enter the flagship market the way they did the budget one, then OH BOY!!! Samsung, Apple and everyone else WILL really get a run for their money!!!

I have switched from Windows and now own a Nokia 6. Lots of phone for the money and still has the classic build quality Nokia was known for. It would be great if Nokia gets all the tech back they had for Windows into android.

After seeing this tear-down... Next phone will be a NOKIA 6 with the new Snapdragon 630 out in May 2018.
My brand new Apple iphone 6s kept getting slower after only two years use. Seriously this thing is now unusable. Cannot multitask. Constant iOS (bloatware) updates which reduced the clock speed of the processors are to blame... you cannot turn updates off.
Built in redundancy should not be a company tactic, and is environmental unforgivable. My son will nag me for a new iPad but that will be point blank refused. Environment first... Apple profits last!
The biggest plus though is pure Andoid (Andoid One) where I can TURN OFF all updates. That is a feature of Android. Apple should could have this??????
I bet the NOKIA 6 phone will last at four and most likely six (6) years with a good armour case. RIP iPhone, you won't be missed.

Proud owner of not one, but *two* Nokia 6.1 64GB phones! I saw them on sale at $124 each and I saw how classy they are so I got an extra second unit for the time when the first unit dies. I wanna hold on to standard rectangular displays, you see: No stupid notches and mile-long aspect ratios or those ghastly punched holes on the display! And after just a few moments into this video it just goes to show how good Nokia really is when it comes to design! And with Android One, the second unit will still get updates years from now. Incredible deal for $124!!

Nice teardown. Great build quality. Not surprised, of all the phones I've had in my life, from Sony, Apple, Samsung, Nokia, ALL the big players... My favorite to this day was the Nokia E71. That thing was incredible. I still miss it, 9 years later. Google the pics and it doesn't even look old school almost a decade later! The keyboard was stellar. I'd love a modern day version of that phone. This phone replaced a Samsung Blackjack and killed it in every way. Made of real steel.

I remember that game haha. I went on to an iPhone 4 after that one - not my cup of tea - and then went Note 1, to Note 4, to my current Note 7. Never looked back once I went to the Note series but still remember the E71 fondly. My Nokia 8260 was a great phone, too. Modded the green backlight leds to white ones... Snake never looked to good! Hahahaha great times, those days.
Side note: You can still get E71's on ebay as actual phones to use! Haha that's crazy.
