  • We are 1 month into our big trip of Australia and there have certainly been some learning curves! Over the month we have slowly gone from Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay where we had scheduled maintenance for Vance so took things slowly and checked out all the little nooks and crannies along the way.
    So here it is, our first impression of life on the road in our tiny home on wheels, our VW T3 Vance!

    I traveled from Sydney to Cairns 1995 and sometimes I dreaming back to this part of my life. Many pack packers don’t stop I Coffs Harbour but I like the town and the whole journey was fantastic.

    Hi guys, just came across your channel and find it quite enjoyable! Having camped in my Westy (1980) with a family of 5 in rainy weather I can relate. I wish you guys luck on your journey. You did a very nice job on Vance, and its nice to see your choice in vehicles! I have owned my Vanagon Westfalia for just under 40 yrs, and its had its periods of idle storage, but now I drive it almost daily, and have such a smile on my face each and every time I do with all those years of memories. Your videos are done well, love the drone shots! Have fun, and I look forward to new adventures! Thanks!

      slim pickins so glad you found us, love connecting with fellow Westy owners! :) we can only imagine how crazy it would’ve been as a family of 5, but what an adventure! It sure is a special feeling to own these beautiful vans. Thanks so much for following along! x

      Me too. I've taken my blended family of 5 camping, and we took extra tents for people to have extra space. I installed a jump seat for more seating. We could have slept 4 in the van, but that is tight, and then you've still got one out in a tent. It was easier to just put the kids out in the tents. I've done 3, one adult and two kids and that was easy. Loved the quick weekend getaway of it, toss some canned food in the bins, fill the water an gas tank, and drive off. Leave Friday afternoon, back on Sunday. Now it's just the two of us, so it's easier to sleep in the van. However we are at the stage that 14 days of rain would have put us in a hotel for some of it!

    Just started following you loving the videos so far.Breakdowns are part of classic Vw life but all part of the journey, our current bus is 46 years old and has only broken down 1 in the last 3 years since we put it back on the road.Our previous one was a vanagon like yours and she only broke down 2 times in 8 years and both were on the same say.We travelled all over the UK and took her to France, Holland and Germany.

    On a rainy day I reckon just put on the butterfly effect and swig some absinthe. Can do on sunny days too

    Off course it’s worth it, when you look back after a lifetime ahead of walking the hamster wheel like the rest of society, this will be the time & experience that you dream about & remember .. all the cliches seem to come true, like ‘it’s the small things in life’ , ‘love & the love of nature are the greatest things’ ‘less is more’ ect ect .. you possibly already know these.
    Lay down on the Jungle floor in the Daintree Rainforest & watch the wonders of the insect world & the penny drops for you.. it’s Just like Einstein said. ‘imagination is more important than knowledge’ So ‘yes’ definitely ‘yes’ it’s worth it.

    Hey guys, awesome videos they're really useful and great filming. I'm just wondering - how did you guys cook while it was pouring out? Was it hard to keep the wet out? Thanks!! 😎

    • @KendallandGlenn
      @KendallandGlenn  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much! In the case of constant rain every single day it makes it very hard, often resulting in meals that aren't cooked, or can be warmed up with our little single burner hiking stove inside the van (like soup). There were still a few small opportunities for cooking in between the rain, but honestly during this time we really didn't eat well as a result. Normally there are plenty of breaks in the weather and the odd day of rain is easy to work around but when its constant every single day it makes it much more difficult. Hope that helps!

    binging your videos because my dream is to buy a vw t3! my question is however: have you experienced a lot of rust with an old van like that? is it hard to fix?

    • @KendallandGlenn
      @KendallandGlenn  3 роки тому

      Aww yay! T3s are so beautiful if they’re done right! We do have some rust issues, which we wish we dealt with right away. So if you are getting one, check for major rust spots and get them fixed right away! 😊

      Hey Banjax! Glad to have you following along :)
      The first time Vance needed a new fuel pump, and the second time he was just booked in for scheduled maintenance which turned into a lot of troubleshooting and tidying up.
