Nola needs more credit for what he's done in a Phillies jersey He's the longest tenured Phillie and always gets overlooked when the all star break comes around
Mookie’s follow up to the last fan’s question, in explaining how he feels when leaving the field now that he has kids & a family was so much more artfully said than what he said post Dodgers 2023 NLDS loss. Maybe time, therapy, reading, time with a religious figure or even experiences with his family enabled him to form better response to a loss or bad game day now. Either way, hope going forward he remembers this in his pressers. It humanizes him…which when our hero’s don’t win is what we as fans need.
Nola is one of the most under appreciated starters on that team. The fans unleash on him when he has a bad start. But even if he doesn’t have good stuff, he still grinds out about 6 innings. That’s a hell of a lot better than him missing time due to injury and having to rely on a AAA call up for a month of the season. lol. His durability alone makes him valuable. Here and there, he’ll give you 6-8 innings of 3 runs or less. Once or twice a season, he’ll go 8-9 innings in a start. 16 quality starts as of August 18 is top 5 in NL. I’ll be the first to admit that his execution and command of his entire arsenal has been off since the pitch clock came in. Been leaving that curve up a little bit, secondary pitches have been almost non existent, and missing with his fastballs around the edges of the zone, more balls. Hope he comes around and finds it because when he has it, he’s really good and a lot of fun to watch.
I can vouch for that as a phillies fan. I get annoyed whenever he goes on a good stretch they'll give him credit but the moment he has a bad start they are quick to pounce even if he rebounds the following start

I just love Mookie and everything he is doing.
One of my favorite guys on the phillies. I was glad when he signed his extension last offseason

Sick pod still missing you in Boston 😢
I love Aaron Nola
I understand Shohei Ohtani doesn’t speak English that well.
But will you do a episode of him?
31:57 i was doing bench press and he said it, i almost died😂
Mookie needs his own podcast
If he did ever get his own podcast, they could call it "On Base with Mookie Betts" - he could even interview other players while hosting it. 😉
hi Nola. Kool 2 learn about u
Pretty brite in there Mr. Betts! Pura Vida from Costa Rica!
MOOKIE 🔥🔥🔥🔥
About time Mookie got a phillie on the podcast. Should’ve been Bryce though.
Nah, Bryce is always the rep, it’s good to hear another players take…his Phillies seniority has earned him a place at the table.
14:44 Devin Williams?
Tie that sneaker Mookie!
🤣
