  • In this video, we dive deep into the captivating yet controversial themes of two popular movies: "Rockstar" and "Kabir Singh." Both films portray the journey of protagonists who seek pain and hardship in the name of love and artistic greatness. But are these messages something we should celebrate?
Join me as we explore the transformation of Janardhan/Jordan in "Rockstar" and how the movie romanticizes pain as a catalyst for great art. We’ll also examine Kabir Singh's obsessive love and self-destructive behavior, and the implications of portraying such intense emotions as devotion. This video delves into the psychological and social impact these narratives can have on young and impressionable audiences, highlighting the fine line between cinematic storytelling and real-life consequences of seeking motivation from the wrong things.
Additionally, we'll discuss healthier, more constructive ways to find inspiration and achieve greatness without resorting to self-destruction. If you’re a fan of these movies or curious about how media influences our perceptions of love and success, this video is for you! Let’s critically analyze these stories and understand the true cost of glorifying pain and suffering.

I think Indian audiences really lack media literacy. It's not the fact that these movies promote such harmful and self destructive methods, it's that the audience idolizes these characters and start to imitate their actions, I personally find Rockstar to be the rather better movie between the two. Yes Jordan does indeed start off his whole relationship with Heer based upon the philosophy that he needs pain to become a great artist but when that doesn't work he does find himself in a healthy friendship with Heer and it's pretty obvious at that point that Jordan doesn't actually love her. But when she goes away and he starts to miss her and gets thrown out of his house. I believe it is in the Nizamuddin Dargah that he realizes that he is in love with Heer and goes away, as the film goes on we see Jordan slowly start to hate his life as an artist which is why he doesn't attend his own concerts and is always pissed at the paparazzi, in his own words he doesn't want this anymore. He doesn't want his Heart Broken at any cost. But when that fails, he just stops caring. He burns his guitar which is also a motif for love and passion or music, denoting that he has started to enjoy this pain, by the end he just turns soulless.
Kabir Singh, on the other hand, is a movie which I personally do not like for the impact it left on our culture, it's not that the movie actively tried to glorify any of those toxic actions in the movie, but the problem is that it was subtle. Indian audiences do not understand subtleness. I think Kabir had always had some family issues which may be the reason why he turned out the way he did but I honestly feel that all of Vanga's protagonists are mentally troubled, if that was explored more in the movie then maybe it wouldn't have been as glorified as it is.
also great video btw, i really like having meaningful and detailed discussion on movies, especially well made Bollywood movies, i will be looking forward for your next video!

yeah, but you don't learn things from movies. if you want to, School, colleges, your own home is present. why is the writer or director is criticized for making the movie, it is his choice to show his craft. we have to take it as a source of entertainment not for learning. ik audience don't understand this but they have to. btw great video

It is upto the audience what they interrupt the craft as, i believe you can learn from almost any movie. Watching media and consuming media are two very different things

Yeah absolutely! reality and film characters are completely different, but even after knowing this difference, people tend to seek pain and become hopeless romantics :(

Lmene dono film dekhi h. Or dono k lie hi meri thinking different h. Rockstar me intense love ko dikhaya h or jo salah khatana bhai ne di thi usse logon pe koi impact nhi hua hoga. But kabir singh nigayti bekwas film lgi mujhe. Usme ladki b doc ban sakti thi but usne kya hi kia? Bass sex n us ladke k thappad khae insult karwai. Seedhi sadi ladkiyon ki alag hi image bna di. 3rd class film.

Bat feminist ki nhi h. Yehi agar ladke k sath hota tab b main yehi bolti. Animal movie me b husband ka dusri ladki k sath sona sahi dikhaya gaya h jisse bht logon pe galat asar padega. Usme wo ladki b to galat hi thi na.
