The diesel is by far the best option out of towns. It has the new 8 speed DCT transmission, a 2.2 turbo engine that is a match in performance to the Volvo XC90 D5 which is directly comparable. Moreover it gives a consistent average fuel economy here in hilly West Wales of 38mpg with 42 easily achieved on longer journeys with 50mpg on motorways driven within the speed limit. To put this in perspective it is only 2mpg less than I get with my Honda CR-V 1.6 twin turbo 9 speed automatic that has 50hp less to pull nearly half a ton lighter car. The Sorento really is a superb vehicle, every bit as good as the XC90 in my long term experience of both models. A bonus being that my monthly business contract hire is nearly down to half the monthly cost of my previous XC90. It costs me £16/day including the initial payment spread over all 36 month hire period for business use, which to put into perspective is only £3 more per day than a single packet of 20 cigarettes. The diesel option is not as tax efficient as either hybrid, which is the only downside for me. However a 600 mile range from its modest approximately 15 gallon fuel tank is worth its weight in gold and matches that available from diesel XC90 and Q7 models, the Q7 diesel having a 25% bigger tank to achieve it.
I think plug ins will die a death because really they don't make much sense compared to self charging hybrids imho of course. This man does such a great and comprehensive review, he's very good indeed.
Who would have thought that KIA were better than Mercedes Benz land rover Audi and BMW. Well they are. A lot of car for the money and probably less troublesome than the other brands mentioned

When the seats in the back are all flat a length and width measurement in cms would be more useful than litres!
Thanks for the feedback, Tim! Are you interested in getting a new Sorento?
Isofix is on the 3rd row seats you see it on the video 😂
Unfortunately it has low ground clearance

The Korean Hyundai Kia have trumped the Germans. [Often wondered why the British prefer a country which they fought in two World wars?]
