இந்துக் கடவுளான விஷ்ணுவின் பன்றி வடிவமான வராஹா, தென்னிந்தியாவில் உள்ள தமிழ்நாட்டின் செங்கல்பட்டு மாவட்டத்தில் சென்னையில் உள்ள திருவிடந்தை என்ற கிராமத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள நித்யகலாய பெருமாள் கோயிலின் பொருளாகும். தமிழ் கட்டிடக்கலை பாணியில் கட்டப்பட்ட கோயில், ஆறாம் நூற்றாண்டு முதல் ஒன்பதாம் நூற்றாண்டு வரையிலான ஆழ்வார் மகான்களின் ஆரம்பகால இடைக்கால தமிழ் நியதியான நாலாயிர திவ்ய பிரபந்தத்தில் உயர்ந்தது. இது விஷ்ணுவுக்கு அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்ட 108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில் ஒன்றாகும், அவர் கோமளவல்லி தாயார், லக்ஷ்மியின் துணைவியார் மற்றும் நித்யகலாய பெருமாள் (வராக) எனப் போற்றப்படுகிறார்.[1] ஏழாம் நூற்றாண்டில் பல்லவர்கள் கோயிலின் அடிப்படை கட்டமைப்பை உருவாக்கினர், மேலும் சோழர்கள் பதினொன்றாம் நூற்றாண்டில் அதை நீட்டித்தனர்.
The Varaha, the boar form of the Hindu god Vishnu, is the subject of the Nithyakalayana Perumal temple, located in Thiruvidandai, a village in Chennai, Chengalpattu district of the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. The temple, which was built in the Tamil architectural style, is exalted in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alvar saints, which dates from the sixth to the ninth century CE. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams devoted to Vishnu, who is revered as Komalavalli Thayar, the consort of Lakshmi, and Nithyakalayana Perumal (Varaha).[1] The Pallavas constructed the temple's basic framework in the seventh century CE, and the Cholas added extensions to it in the eleventh.
